The University of Manchester (UoM) is the first civic university in England formed after the merger of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) and the Victoria University of Manchester in 2004. University of Manchester Application Process for International Students 

The application process for undergraduate and postgraduate courses is different. The documents required to be submitted during the application process should be in original drafts and English. How to Apply?

  • To apply for undergraduate courses at the University of Manchester, you need to apply through the UCAS website and track your application status.
  • For postgraduate courses, you need to visit the official website of UoM and create an account. There is a separate application portal provided on their website.
  • Post that, students need to choose their desired course from the list and click on ‘Apply.’
  • The next step is to enter all the necessary details related to test scores and personal profiles. Complete all the nine sections and review the application before submitting it
  • It is important to read the instructions properly before applying on the website, as your application will get deleted after 28 days of inactivity.
  • The results are revealed after a month of the application submission for undergraduate courses. The admission committee reviews your application and generally reverts by the UCAS deadline. However, there are no fixed timelines for PG courses and are declared as soon as possible. 

University of Manchester Application Deadlines

The University of Manchester offers the UG programs only in the fall intakes. In comparison, PG programs are offered in fall as well as spring intakes. For international students, the deadline for most of the courses is 30th June, 2022. For Medicine and Dentistry courses, the deadline for applications is October. There are no official deadlines for the PG courses, but the University recommends the aspirants to apply as soon as possible. Students should visit the university website to know more about the deadlines of specific courses.

Admission Procedure of University of Manchester

Once you have accepted the admission offer and paid the mandatory deposits for your program, the following steps need to be taken.

  • UoM starts the CAS process after you have accepted the offer. The Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a unique reference number issued by the University of Manchester. Students must have a CAS to apply for a visa
  • You need to plan your fee payments before applying for CAS
  • UOM will send a CAS draft mail to the students to confirm their acceptance. The CAS will be processed at least six months before the start of the program
  • Students can obtain student route visa before the commencement of the course, even if they intend to delay their decision to study in Manchester
  • An ATAS certificate is also required for some of the postgraduate and undergraduate courses. If you applied for a student route visa to study in the UK, then you need to have ATAS clearance before applying for a visa
  • Tuberculosis screening has been made mandatory in some countries by the UK. You must refer to the UKVI website to find out if you are required to take a certificate of the same
  • Do check with UoM if any other documents are required
  • Once your visa has been approved, you are all set to travel

Acceptance Rate at the University of Manchester

The University of Manchester has an acceptance rate of more than 50% for undergraduate courses and around 35% for postgraduate courses. The University is very selective for some of its courses, and thus it becomes a tough competition for students to get admission at UoM.
