What is CUCET?
Full form of CUCET is Central Universities Common Entrance Test. CUCET is a national level entrance exam to provide single window opportunity to students seeking admission into various Integrated/UG, PG & research programmes offered by the 14 Central Universities of India.
The Central Universities of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kashmir, Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi University (Bihar), Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and South Bihar along with the Bengaluru Dr. B.R. Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) jointly participate in Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET 2019).
The Central University of Rajasthan has the absolute right to conduct CUCET 2019 examination and to decide about admissions and allotment of seats. CUCET 2019 exam is a National Level Entrance Examination which will be conducted in 119 exam centres across India and in one centre in Nepal.
CUCET helps the candidates to seek admission into undergraduate, integrated, postgraduate and research programmes in various educational and professional fields in these 14 central universities. Admissions through CUCET 2019 are handled at the level of each of these Central Universities and BASE, for their respective programmes.

CUCET applications are notified in the month of March. The exam is conducted in the month of May and the results are out in June. The CUCET 2019 Important Dates are as follows:
- CUCET Registration Window: CUCET 2019 Application Form is available since 13th March 2019 and the registration process will end on 13th April 2019.
- Admit Card Release date: Candidates can download the CUCET 2019 admit card from 10th May 2019 onwards, from the CUCET official website.
- Exam Date: The CUCET 2019 exam will be held on 25th May 2019 and 26th May 2019 at various exam centres all over India.
- Result Date: According to the official notification, CUCET 2019 results will be released online on 21st June 2019, on the official website of CUCET.
- Counselling: Each university conducts separate counselling for programmes offered by them. After the release of the results, respective Universities will declare their counselling and admission schedule.
The eligibility criteria vary for different programmes so, candidates need to check the eligibility criteria on participating universities website before filling Application Form. Only candidates with Indian citizenship can apply for CUCET 2019.
Candidates who have completed or are appearing in class 10+2 level examination or equivalent qualifying examination from a recognized University or Board, are eligible to apply for Integrated and Undergraduate courses in CUCET 2019 exam. Candidates need to have a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in order to be eligible to apply for postgraduate courses through CUCET 2019 examination.
The candidate should be having age less than 19 years for undergraduate courses and less than 25 years for postgraduate courses. This age limit is only there in the Central University of Kerela and is not there in any other university.
As the CUCET exam is there for admission at various levels, the CUCET 2019 Syllabus varies for each level. For part A of all the courses, the syllabus is the same and will be general in nature and will be similar to aptitude paper of any other entrance exam. The syllabus for part B is:
For CUCET 2019 UG, majority of the syllabus will be similar to the qualifying examination of 12th standard. The syllabus includes the normal syllabus of CBSE of class 12th for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
For Domain Knowledge of Part B of CUCET 2019 PG, candidates have to prepare their respective subject specific syllabus.
Interested candidates must go through the eligibility criteria for CUCET 2019 first before registering for the exam. The application form should be filled and submitted by the candidate on or before the 13th April 2019.
How to apply for CUCET?
Candidates can apply through online mode only. For applying candidates need to go to the official website of CUCET. The various steps in applying for CUCET 2019 are:
- The first step is registration. After registration, the candidate will receive an Applicant ID.
- For Logging in, the candidate needs to enter the Application ID and his/her Date of birth.
- The candidate now has to enter personal and educational details.
- After adding personal and education details, the candidate has to upload scanned images of his/her photograph and signature.
- Finally, application fees have to be paid by the candidate.
CUCET Application Form was available since 13th March 2019 on the official website and the last date to apply was 13th April 2019. The CUCET application form can only be filled online. The process consists of three steps: Registration, filling of personal and educational details and finally payment of Application fee. The personal details include the email ID, mobile number etc.
The application fee varies from one category to another. It can be paid through online means or through Bank Challan. The candidates can apply for 3 participating universities at maximum and three programs within each participating university. The application fees for various categories are:

Documents Required to apply for CUCET
Before filling CUCET 2019 Application Form online, candidate is required to have scanned images of:
- Candidate's recent photograph: Candidates need to upload the scanned images of their recent colour photograph taken on a white/light background.
- Signature as per given specifications: The signature should be made on a white paper using a black ink pen.
CUCET 2019 examination will be conducted in offline mode i.e. pen and paper-based (PBT) where students have to mark on the OMR sheets.
For all the programmes under CUCET 2019 except for some Integrated Programme/MCA/B.Voc./LLB/MBA or any other general Programme, the paper will be divided into 2 parts, Part A will consist of 25 MCQs and Part B will consist of 75 MCQs. For other Programmes, the CUCET 2019 will have only one paper comprising of 100 MCQs covering English language, reasoning, data interpretations/numerical ability, general awareness and analytical skills.
Part A consists of English Language, Mathematical Aptitude, General Awareness and Analytical Skills whereas Part B will be based on Domain Knowledge. Part B will have 3, 4 or 5 sections with 25 questions per section. A candidate is required to answer a set of any three sections (75 questions) relevant to the course he/she is applying for.
Candidates are awarded one mark for a correct answer and 0.25 mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for the research programme.
Candidates who have completed the registration process and are meeting the eligibility conditions will receive the admit card in the first or second week of May. The admit card will have the candidate's personal details, the exam centre details and the language selected for the exam.
How to download CUCET Admit Card?
Candidates can download their CUCET Admit Card 2019 from 10th May 2019 from the official website. To download their CUCET 2019 Admit Card, candidates have to login by entering the necessary details like registration number and password. Afterwards, they will be directed to the page where they will be able to download their admit card.
CUCET 2019 will take place in 119 different centres across 22 states in India and in one centre in Nepal. Kathmandu in Nepal is the only CUCET 2019 test centre outside of India.
Exam Centre Selection: At the time of filling the CUCET 2019 Application form, candidates will have the option to select two different states and cities. Candidates should select any two cities from the exam centre drop-down list based on candidates' convenience. (If less than 100 candidates registered for a particular CUCET 2019 Exam Centre then, in that case, that particular CUCET 2019 exam centre will be cancelled and the applicant will be allocated with the new CUCET 2019 exam centre which is nearby.)
Candidates should reach their allotted CUCET 2019 exam centres 15 minutes before the actual time and they must carry the admit card and photo ID with them. Failing to do so, the candidate will not be allowed in the examination hall.
Candidates can check the CUCET 2019 answer key from the official website two days after the exam. If the candidates have any grievances with respect to the official answer keys, then the candidate can contact the CUCET helpdesk. CUCET Results 2019 will be announced on 21st June 2019 on the official website of CUCET.
How to Download CUCET Result?
To view the CUCET 2019 Result, candidates should enter the Application Number and Password. CUCET 2019 scorecard will contain the following information, candidate's name, roll number, marks obtained, rank in the merit list.
The Cutoff is the lowest marks possible to get admission into the institution. As the exam is concerned with various universities, the cutoff of each university for each course is different. Also, the cutoff will vary from one category to another. The various cutoffs are published online by the participating universities.
The candidate has to first give the written exam. Based on the cutoff decided by each participating institution, the candidate can appear for counselling which will be completely online. After getting the desired institution in counselling, the candidate has to report to the institution with all the required documents, pay the fees and admission will be given to him/her.
After the declaration of the CUCET 2019 results, candidates need to register themselves on the official website of the concerned university. Then respective participating Universities will declare the counselling/admission schedule and merit list based on the weightage on CUCET 2019 and other criteria.
The CUCET 2019 Counselling/allotment of seats will be done online. The seats for the qualified candidates will be allotted on the basis of the candidate’s rank and availability of seats for the preferred course at the preferred University.
How to prepare for CUCET?
The CUCET is an exam conducted for candidates studying at various levels. The syllabus is different, however, the preparation techniques remain the same. The following steps can be undertaken for a full proof preparation:
Time Management: Plan for your time during the exam in a smart and efficient manner. Assign adequate time for every one of the subjects. Candidates should make a realistic and achievable timetable. Also, candidates should make sure that the topics they find will not be left undone.
Keeping Record: Keep a record of regular work, and ensure that there is an improvement over yesterdays work is done.
Priority: From the beginning, make note of the points which you find difficult and give more focus to those topics, and don't neglect any of the subjects.
Revision: For a better outcome, a candidate must regularly revise the topics already done.
Previous Year Question Papers
Check the Previous year question papers of CUCET exam to understand the difficulty level and the type of question asked in the exam topic wise to ease you in evaluating yourself later.
Practice the mock/ sample tests papers to self evaluate, regularly. As a result of solving the mock test, the candidate can become aware of the areas that are taking more time and thus require more practice.
A lot of study materials are available online and when in doubt, candidates can go through the CUCET Reference books.
Various coaching centres are available for different courses and for different levels. The candidate can join the coaching centre based on the course he/she wants to join.

Guidelines for CUCET
The guidelines below are added for the appicants of CUCET. Before going to exam on exam day, do have a look at the following instructions to avoid any hassle.
Admit Card Details: Candidates need to check their Admit Card carefully for their Name, Paper, Date of Birth, Gender, Exam Centre Name, City, State.
Reporting Time: Candidates are advised to reach the venue well before the commencement of the examination so as to complete the registration formalities well before the commencement of exam. The registration desk will close 5 minutes prior to the examination.
Relaxation under PWD: A copy of PwD certificate in the prescribed format must be carried by the candidates to claim relaxation under PwD category.
Question Paper Medium: Candidates should ensure that the question paper available on the computer is as per their choice of medium. The concerned invigilator should be notified in case the question paper is in the medium other than their choice.
- Seat Allotment: Candidates are not allowed to enter the JEE Advanced Exam Centres 2019 after the commencement of the examination. A seat indicating roll number will be allocated to each candidate. The candidature will be cancelled if the candidate is found to have changed their room/seat allotted.
Prohibited Items: Candidates are not allowed to carry any textual material, calculators, docu pen, slide rules, log tables, electronic watches with facilities of calculator, printed or written material, bits of papers, mobile phone, pager or any other device.
No Smoking & Eating: Smoking or eating is strictly prohibited in the JEE Advanced 2019 exam hall. No edible item is not allowed inside the examination hall.
No Leaving Before the Allotted Time: Candidates cannot leave their seat or the examination hall until the standard duration of the exam without the permission of the Centre Superintendent or the Invigilator.
