Latest Update: The closing date for the CUCET 2020 online registration has been extended to June 6, 2020.
The exam that was to commence from May 30, 2020 has now been deferred due to the extension of the lockdown. The new exam dates will be announced soon. 

What is CUCET?

The full form of CUCET is Central Universities Common Entrance Test. CUCET Exam is a national level entrance exam to provide single window opportunity to students seeking admission into various UG, PG & PhD programmes offered by 14 Central Universities of India.

CUCET Information

Central Universities of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kashmir, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, South Bihar and Mahatma Gandhi University (Bihar) along with Bengaluru Dr B.R. Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) jointly participate in Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET 2020).

The Central University of Rajasthan has the absolute right to conduct CUCET 2020 examination and to decide about admissions and allotment of seats. CUCET 2020 exam is a National Level Entrance Examination which will be conducted in 119 exam centres across India and one centre in Nepal.

CUCET helps candidates to seek admission into undergraduate, integrated, postgraduate and research programmes in various educational and professional fields in these 14 central universities. Admissions through CUCET 2020 are handled at the level of each of these Central Universities and BASE, for their respective programmes.

CUCET 2020 Eligibility

Eligibility criteria vary for different programmes so, candidates need to check eligibility criteria on participating universities website before filling Application Form. Only candidates with Indian citizenship can apply for CUCET 2020.

Candidates who have completed or are appearing in class 10+2 level examination or equivalent qualifying examination from a recognized University or Board, are eligible to apply for Integrated and Undergraduate courses in CUCET 2020 exam. Candidates need to have a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university to be eligible to apply for postgraduate courses through CUCET entrance exam 2020.

Candidate should be having age less than 19 years for undergraduate courses and less than 25 years for postgraduate courses. This age limit is only there in the Central University of Kerela and is not there in any other university.

CUCET 2020 Syllabus

As CUCET exam is there for admission at various levels, CUCET 2020 Syllabus varies for each level. Candidates need to undergo all of the syllabus section for detailed study related to CUCET 2020 and must meet eligibility criteria for CUCET to appear in CUCET exam. For part A of all courses syllabus is same and will be general and will be similar for aptitude test of any other entrance exam.

CUCET UG Syllabus

For CUCET 2020 UG, majority of the syllabus will be similar to the qualifying examination of 12th standard. The syllabus includes normal sections of CBSE of class 12th for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

CUCET PG Syllabus

Candidates need to undergo specific subject for Domain Knowledge of Part B of CUCET 2020 PG.

How to Prepare for CUCET 2020?

CUCET is an exam conducted for candidates studying at various levels. CUCET Syllabus 2020 is different, however, preparation techniques remain the same. Following steps can be undertaken for a full proof preparation.

Time Management: Candidates who are willing to give CUCET exam should plan for the time during the exam smartly and efficiently. Adequate time slot should be assigned for every subject. Candidates should make a realistic and achievable timetable and apart from this candidates should make sure that topics will not be left undone.

Keeping Record: Candidates should keep a record of regular work, and ensure that there is an improvement over yesterdays work.

Priority: From the beginning of Preparation candidates should make note of points which they find difficult and should give more focus on weaker topics and should make it strong. Candidates need to prepare systematically.

Revision: Candidates should revise topics daily to become perfect in all sections related to CUCET Exam 2020. Apart from this candidates should practice mock/sample tests papers for self-evaluation regularly. As a result of solving the mock test, the candidate can become aware of the areas that are taking more time and thus require more practice.

CUCET 2020 Entrance Exam Pattern

CUCET 2020 examination will be conducted in offline mode i.e. pen and paper-based (PBT) where students have to mark on OMR sheets which will be provided during the exam.

For all programmes under CUCET 2020 except for Programmes like Integrated Programme/MCA/B.Voc./LLB/MBA or any other general Programme, the paper will be divided into 2 parts, Part A will consist of 25 MCQs and Part B will consist of 75 MCQs. For other Programmes, CUCET 2020 will have only one paper comprising of 100 MCQs covering English language, reasoning, data interpretations/numerical ability, general awareness and analytical skills.

Part A consists of English Language, Mathematical Aptitude, General Awareness, and Analytical Skills whereas Part B will be based on Domain Knowledge. Part B will have 3, 4 or 5 sections with 25 questions per section. A candidate is required to answer a set of any three sections (75 questions) relevant to course he/she is applying for.

Candidates are awarded one mark for a correct answer and 0.25 mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for the research programme.

CUCET 2020 Registration

Interested candidates must go through eligibility criteria for CUCET 2020 first before registering for CUCET exam. Before appearing for CUCET exam candidates must fill CUCET Application Form end to end such that it will be very easy for candidates to take part in remaining procedures for the exam.

How to apply for CUCET?

Candidates can apply through online mode only. For applying candidates need to go to the official website of CUCET. Various steps in applying for CUCET 2020 are as follows:

  • The first step of Application is Online Registration and after registration, the candidate will receive an Applicant ID.
  • For Logging in, the candidate needs to enter Application ID and his/her Date of birth.
  • Next step is that the candidate has to enter personal and educational details.
  • Then after adding personal and education details, the candidate has to upload scanned images of his/her photograph and signature.
  • Finally, application fees have to be paid by the aspiring candidate.

CUCET 2020 Application Form

CUCET Application Form was made available since March 16, 2020 on the official website and the last date to apply is June 6, 2020. CUCET application form can only be filled online. The process consists of three steps: Registration, filling of personal and educational details and finally payment of Application fee. Personal details include email ID, mobile number etc. Candidates can check exam dates of CUCET such that they should not miss out on any important events related to exam dates.

Application Fee varies from one category to another and it can be paid through online or through Bank Challan. Candidates can apply for 3 participating universities at maximum and three programs within each participating university.

Documents Required

Before filling CUCET 2020 Application Form online, the candidate is required to have scanned images of following specific things:

  • Candidate's recent photograph: Candidates need to upload scanned images of their recent colour photograph taken on a white/light background.
  • Signature as per given specifications: Signature should be made on a white paper using a black ink pen.

CUCET 2020 Admit Card

Candidates who have completed the registration process and are meeting eligibility conditions will receive CUCET 2020 Admit Card 2020 once the dates have been announced by the officials. CUCET admit card will have candidate's details, exam centre details and language selected for the exam.

How to download CUCET Admit Card?

Candidates can download their CUCET 2020 Admit Card from the official website. To download their CUCET 2020 Admit Card, candidates have to login by entering necessary details like registration number and password. Afterwards, they will be directed to downloading page where they will be able to download their admit card.

CUCET 2020 Exam Centres

CUCET 2020 will take place in 119 different centres across 22 states in India and one centre in Nepal. Kathmandu in Nepal is only CUCET 2020 test centre outside of India. Details for Exam Centre is given below:

Exam Centre Selection: At the time of filling CUCET 2020 Application form, candidates will have the option to select two different states and cities. Candidates should select any two cities from CUCET exam centre drop-down list based on candidates' convenience. (If less than 100 candidates registered for a particular CUCET 2020 Exam Centre then, in that case, that particular CUCET 2020 exam centre will be cancelled and the applicant will be allocated with new CUCET 2020 exam centre which is nearby.

Candidates should reach their allotted CUCET 2020 exam centre 15 minutes before actual time and they must carry CUCET admit card and photo ID with them. Failing to do so, the candidate will not be allowed in the examination hall.

CUCET 2020 Result

Candidates can check CUCET 2020 answer key from official website one or two days after the exam. If candidates have any grievances concerning official answer keys, then-candidate can contact CUCET helpdesk. CUCET Results 2020 will be announced on the official website of CUCET.

How to Download CUCET Result 2020?

To view CUCET 2020 Result, candidates should enter Application Number and Password. CUCET 2020 scorecard will contain the following information, candidate's name, roll number, marks obtained, rank in the merit list, etc. Results will be declared in the official website and candidates need to check CUCET 2020 Results to have a better understanding of the format of CUCET result section.

CUCET 2020 Cut off

The cutoff is the lowest marks possible to get admission into the institution. As the exam is concerned with various universities, the cutoff of each university for each course is different. Also, the cutoff will vary from one category to another. Various cutoffs are published online by participating Universities.

CUCET 2020 Counselling

After the declaration of CUCET 2020 results, candidates need to register themselves on the official website of concerned university. Then respective participating Universities will declare counselling/admission schedule and merit list based on weightage on CUCET 2020 and other criteria.

CUCET 2020 Counselling allotment of seats will be done online. Seats for qualified candidates will be allotted based on the candidate’s rank and availability of seats for the preferred course at preferred University.

Based on cutoff decided by each participating institution, the candidate can appear for counselling. After getting the desired institution in counselling, the candidate has to report to the institution with all required documents and need to pay fees and admission will be given to him/her.

Guidelines for CUCET 2020

Guidelines below are added for applicants of CUCET entrance exam. Before going to an exam on exam day, candidates need to have a look at the following instructions to avoid any hassle.

  • Admit Card Details: Candidates need to check their Admit Card carefully for their Name, Paper, Date of Birth, Gender, Exam Centre Name, City, State.
  • Reporting Time: Candidates are advised to reach exam venue well before the commencement of examination to complete registration formalities well before the commencement of exam. The registration desk will close 5 minutes before the examination.
  • Relaxation under PWD: A copy of PwD certificate in prescribed format must be carried by candidates to claim relaxation under PWD category.
  • Question Paper Medium: Candidates should ensure that question paper available on the computer is as per their choice of medium. Concerned invigilator should be notified in the case question paper is in medium other than their choice.
  • Seat Allotment: Candidates are not allowed to enter the examination hall after the commencement of the examination. A seat indicating roll number will be allocated to each candidate. Candidature will be cancelled if the candidate is found to have changed their room/seat allotted.
  • Prohibited Items: Candidates are not allowed to carry any textual material, calculators, pen, slide rules, log tables, electronic watches with facilities of calculator, printed or written material, bits of papers, mobile phone, pager or any other device.

Note: Smoking or eating is strictly prohibited in the exam hall. Candidates cannot leave their seat or examination hall until the standard duration of exam without permission of Centre Superintendent or the Invigilator.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are different programs that are offered which varies from one participating university to another. Also, different programs are there at different levels whether it is undergraduate, postgraduate or P.hd level in these universities. Thus, there a several options and disciplines to choose from 

Age is no bar for a candidate applying for CUCET Exam. The only exemption is the Central University of Kerala where a candidate should be less than 19 years old for undergraduate courses and less than 25 years old for postgraduate courses. 

Tuition fees vary from one participating university to another, and from one course to another. 

Results will be out in last week of May. These dates will vary in 2020.

The eligibility criteria for B.Sc Economics is that we should have opted for both maths and economics in our senior secondary education. Normally, to take admission to CU there is an exam mainly known as CUCET but I didn't give that exam. I have just filled the form online with required documents and after some days I got the call from CU confirming my eligibility for this course. There are no cutoffs but you should have a good score and even an opportunity that if you are having more 80% then you can get some sort of relaxation on the academic fees (commonly known as scholarships).

Chandigarh University Common Entrance test has three phases namely CUCET-I, CUCET-II, and CUCET-III. Each phase will be running one by one and early comers be availed extra benefits. During the time of application, the candidate will have to select the active phase which would be necessary for admissions into Engineering and Management courses and scholarships for all the programs.

- Register by filling your Name, Email, Contact Number and City

After logging on to CUCET’s official website, the candidate has to register by filling in his details such as Name, Email, Contact Number, and City. The required information is to be filled on the registration columns available on the homepage of CUCET’s website.

- Choose your interested discipline and program

After providing the above information, the candidate needs to select the discipline and program of his interest that he wishes to apply for and then register.

- Create your profile after registration

After the above process has been completed, the candidate needs to complete his profile after logging into it using the User ID and password sent through Email and SMS. A candidate may also use registered Email ID as a username to log in.

- After successful registration, a confirmation message is sent through SMS/Email

The candidate will receive the confirmation for successful registration on his/her registered contact number and Email address through an Email or SMS.

Eligibility criteria for all Integrated UG+PG program are minimum 55% marks in 12th board. For PG program minimum 55% in 12th board and 60% in graduation. For admission, you have to clear the CUCET exam. Typical Cutoff for IMBA program was minimum 120+ out of 300.

  • Timetable: Create your own timetable which is convenient to your schedules and giving required amount of time for all the subjects to Follow Proper Time Table
  • Paper solving: Go through the previous year question paper and solve all the papers to get practised of facing exam and time pick up.
  • Among choices: Try to find correct answers among the choices after analysing questions by ignoring the other options present in the list.
  • Revision: Even though you are well prepared with the topics there is a chance of forgetting the topics so make the revision of topics often and try to make remember it in free time.
  • Preparation: Take mock test paper and solve it by yourself by setting time and learn how to maintain time for each question and how to analyse the questions.

Individuals who wish to get enlisted for a PhD Degree through CUCET must fulfil either one of the following Eligibility Criteria as per the CUCET Board:

  • M.Phil degree.
  • Qualified: UGC/CSIR-JRF/NET or SLET (Equivalent to NET/JRF as per UGC norms) or a holder of Teacher Fellowship.
  • Teacher in a constituent/affiliated college/department of the university & research experience for at least two years.
  • Is an in-service candidate with three years’ experience and has master’s degree with at least 55% of marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in the relevant subjects.

No, you are not eligible to pursue a PhD degree from the Central University of Haryana.

In order to be eligible for PhD through CUCET, the candidate should hold an M.Phil of his own.

Is it possible for me to gain admissions to a Central University based on my scores in JEE Main?

CUCET is an exam for admissions to various Central Universities for multiple streams across India, while JEE Main provides chances for an individual to get accepted to all Engineering Institutes across India.

But, JEE Main scores are not applicable for admissions to any Central Universities for that matter.
