What is NATA?

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is a national level undergraduate exam which is organised by Council of Architecture (COA) for admission to 5-year B.Arch program. NATA is conducted by COA for the Admission of Undergraduate Course in the field of Architecture.

The Council of Architecture (COA) is a body corporate by the Government of India under the provisions of the Architects Act, 1972, enacted by the Parliament of India, which came into force on 1 September 1972. The Act provides for registration of Architects, standards of education, recognized qualifications and standards of practice to be complied with by the practicing architects.

  • NATA Exam is usually conducted in 2 phases the first phase was conducted in the month of April and the second phase is to be conducted in the month of July.
  • The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability that have been acquired over a long period of time, and that are related to a specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.
  • NATA 2019 is a National level aptitude test conducted in all the major cities across India. NATA 2019 is conducted in both online i.e. Computer-based Test (CBT) and offline i.e. Pen & Paper-based Test (PBT). National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA 2019) would be held twice from the academic year 2019-20.
  • There is no age limit to apply for NATA. Candidates should have completed their SSLC and 12th with the aggregate of minimum 50% and one who has completed their diploma should have secured minimum 50% to be eligible for NATA 2019 Examination.

What Is The Eligibility Criteria For NATA?

The candidates who are Applying for NATA 2019 should have graduated class 12. It is mandatory to have mathematics as the main subject in class 12.

The below-given eligibility is given by the Council Of Architecture (COA). Only if the candidates satisfy these criteria they can apply for NATA 2019 Exam.

Minimum Marks

 Candidates should have a minimum of 50% marks and should have studied mathematics as one of the main subjects.

Syllabus

Candidates are supposed to prepare on the syllabus prescribed by the Council of Architecture (COA) for NATA. NATA 2019 syllabus consists of Mathematics, General Aptitude, Drawing Test.

The subject like General Aptitude and Drawing test is given 80 marks each and Mathematics is given for 40 marks. There are various topics under each subject.

Candidate should focus on the syllabus to score well in NATA 2019 examination. 

How To Register For NATA?

The candidates will have to follow these steps to register for NATA 2019:

  • Step 1: Visit the official website
  • Step 2: Candidates need to register themselves by clicking on the Register button.
  • Step 3: The candidates are required to fill details like Name, Date of Birth, E-mail ID, Phone Number, etc. The applicants have to create a strong password. After entering the required details click on the "Sign up" button.

How To Apply for NATA?

  • Step 1: Enter the credentials you have provided while registering NATA 2019 Application Form.
  • Step 2: Upload a recent photograph and signature in the required format.
  • Step 3: Pay the application fee of Rs 1800/- (Rs 1500 for reserved categories)
  • Step 4: Print the application form and fee receipt for future use.

Exam Pattern

Admit Card

The admit card will be available in the online mode. NATA 2019 Admit card will be released on the official website on June 24, 2019.

The candidates will have to log in and download the Admit card on the official website.

It is mandatory for the candidates to carry the admit card to the exam center along with one of the photo IDs like Voter ID/Pan Card/Aadhar Card/Driving Licence/e-Aadhar.

NOTE: If there is any discrepancy, it must be brought to the notice of exam authorities immediately.

How To Download NATA Admit Card?

To download the Admit card from the official website candidates will have to follow the below-given steps:

  • Step 1: Visit the official website.
  • Step 2: Click on "Download NATA 2019 Admit Card" link. 
  • Step 3: Enter the required login credentials (Application number and Password).
  • Step 4: Download and take a print out of it.

Exam Centers

NATA 2019 will be conducted in 136 centers, out of which 135 centers are in India and one Exam center is in Dubai. Exam center will be allocated based on the preference of the Candidates.

Candidates are advised to reach NATA 2019 Centre on or before the reporting time (will be printed on the admit card). No late entry in the examination premises will be allowed.

NOTE: The candidate cannot place a request for change of allocated center and it will not be entertained by the conducting authority under any circumstances.

Documents Required On NATA Exam Day

The following are the documents candidates should carry to the Exam Hall:

  • Admit card
  • Photo Id Proof
  • Passport size photograph

Results

Results will be declared only on the official website of the conducting authority. The NATA 2019 Result will be announced on July 21, 2019. Use your registered details and Exam/test Roll number to access NATA 2019 results. The score will be valid only for admission in the academic session 2019-2020.

The scorecard contains details regarding candidate's Name, Roll Number, Marks, Merit secured, Percentile secured, etc.

Qualifying marks: The qualifying marks for NATA 2019 will be based on following rules such as:

  • At least 25% marks must be scored in MCQ type Questions (30 out of 120).
  • At least 25% marks must be secured in Drawing Questions (20 out of 80).
  • Overall qualifying marks (out of 200) will be based on post-exam statistics & at the discretion of the Council.

How To Download NATA Result?

The candidates will have to follow these steps to download the NATA result from the official website:

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of NATA 2019.
  • Step 2: Click to generate the scorecard.
  • Step 3: Read the instructions given and enter the required details.
  • Step 4: Click on the Download button to download the result.
  • Step 5: Candidate can download the original mark sheet from the official website of NATA 2019.

Cutoff

NATA is an Eligibility Test for Admission to Architecture course. It is conducted by The Council of Architecture. The NATA 2019 Scores will be considered by various Reputed Institutions like NIT, IIT, etc.

The NATA 2019 Cutoff will be released on the official website after the results have declared.

The NATA Cutoff Determining Factors are as follows:

  • The total number of candidates taking up the exam.
  • Level of difficulty of the exam.
  • The total number of seats available.

Selection Process

The selection process and allotment of seats to the candidates will start once the merit list of NATA 2019 Exam is out. Only the candidates who qualify the NATA Exam will be called for the counseling process.

Counseling

The Counselling procedure of NATA 2019 will commence after the declaration of NATA 2019 result. The counseling dates for Second Phase of Exam are yet to be announced. Candidates will have to submit Original Certificates/Documents at the time of NATA 2019 Counseling.

Admit Card NATA 2019, Score Card, Class 10 and 12 marks sheets and pass certificate, Category Certificate (if applicable), Medical Certificate for PwD Certificate. In the case of any invalid documents, the candidates would be disqualified from NATA 2019 counseling.

How To Prepare For NATA?

  • Plan it before: Plan your study time in an effective and efficient way. Allot sufficient time for all the subjects. Prepare a timetable for your everyday tasks.
  • Get an idea: Next, check the NATA 2019 Question Papers and get an idea about the exam pattern and the type of questions asked in the NATA exam.
  • Keep a record: Keep a record of everyday work, and make sure that today’s work done is better than yesterday's work done.
  • Divide the time: Candidates should make a proper timetable by dividing the time, allotting more time for the important sections in the exam.
  • Study Materials: Lot of study materials are available online as well as offline and even candidates should check out the reference books to get knowledge about the exam topic. Apart from a reference book the most effective material to study is NATA Question papers.
  • Priority: Firstly, work on the topics which you feel tougher and give more focus to those topics, and don't neglect any of the topics.

There is a seperate enterence test for getting enrolled for Btech and other courses except management courses. Eligibility criteria for architecture course in Bharti Vidyapeeth c.o.architecture were, we have to score more than 70 marks in NATA, and only the students who have given the NATA exam were eligible for this course. I gave the entrance exam called NATA for this architecture course and secured 90 marks in it. In our college (b.v.c.o.a.) cutoffs was little bit high, as college intake is 120 students, merit score cutoffs were around 126 to 127.

 Architecture is a branch very few know about so let's start with what's architecture. Architecture is a branch which provides knowledge in desigining and aesthetics of the building and enchances your creativity. NATA is the separate entrance exam to get into architecture and it is mandatory to qualify in this exam for the admission to architectrure. NATA stands for National Aptitude Test in Architecture. NATA includes sectors like mathematics , general aptitude and drawing. NATA is conducted by COA - Council of architecture. COA sets the minimum standards to qualify as an architectural insitution and moniters in maintaining this standards and can make recommendations to the Government of India with regard to recognition and de-recognition of a qualification. Anyone who is entitled as an architect should be registered under COA. NATA cutoffs varies depending on the colleges.

For admission in b. Arch at GEHU, you need to clear 12 with science & mathematics and NATA with more than 80 marks. Also, you can Have your scorecard of Jee paper 2. There is no cutoff for the admission procedure. It depends on the number of seats available. So You must contact the university on time, that is during May-June.

Hello Babita,

All Architecture schools in India must accept the NATA score. They use the NATA scores as admission criteria. For these schools, 50% weightage is given to the NATA score and 50% weightage to the 12th Standard board exam scores.

Yes, the Council of Architects has stipulated the NATA Test as a mandatory pre requisite for any applicant seeking admission into an architecture college in India. All applicants must clear the NATA exam by securing a minimum of 20/80 marks in Aptitude test and 30/120 in the drawing test. Overall qualifying marks (out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics and at the discretion of the Council.

Candidates will be required to pay “processing charges” while paying an online payment.

  • Domestic Credit Card:- 1.25% of the NATA Fee plus service tax as applicable
  • Domestic Debit Card:- 0.75% of the NATA Fees plus service tax as suitable
  • Domestic Multiple Bank Net Banking Payment Gateway:- Rs.15 per transaction
  • Collection through PAN India ICICI Branches in cash (through challan):- Rs.30 per transaction
  • For International Credit Card / Debit Card, the charges may apply as per the policy of the Bank.

The last date for submitting your duly filled NATA Application Forms is on the 11th of February.

The Board provides and an extra day to upload your photograph/signature/thumbprint or any other images to your NATA Application Form, which will be until the 12th of February.

The NATA Application Form Fees can be paid until the 13th of February.

A Window of Correction for the Application Form will be provided by NATA for anyone who needs to make any necessary corrections to specific fields on their NATA Application Form from the 20th to the 24th of February.

The NATA Application Form Confirmation Page will be available for Download on the Official Website of NATA until the 28th of February.
