CEED 2020 Introduction

  • About: Full form of CEED is the Common Entrance Examination for Design. The objective of the Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) is to assess the candidate’s aptitude for design involving visual perception ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity, communication, and problem-solving skills. CEED is a joint entrance exam, annually conducted by IIT Bombay as a qualifying examination for eligible students to obtain admission to Master of Design (M.Des) and Ph.D. programs for particular colleges.

  • Background: CEED 2020 is a qualifying examination for Design programmes at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIITDM Jabalpur, and IIT Kanpur, and to Ph.D. programmes in Design at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad,
    and IIT Kanpur.

  • Authority: IIT Bombay has the complete rights for conducting CEED 2020 and to decide about modalities of admissions and allotment of seats.

  • Level: CEED 2020 is a National Level Entrance Exam which is conducted across 24 cities in India.

  • Courses: The courses offered through CEED 2020 are Master of Design (M.Des) and Ph.D.

  • Frequency: CEED conducted once in every academic year. Frequently in the month of January.

  • The CEED examination takes place in two phases namely

    • Part A- computer-based screening test which evaluates visualization and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language and creativity, observation and design sensitivity.

    • Part B- evaluates drawing, creativity, communication skills and analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Scorecard Validity: CEED 2020 Scorecard will be valid for a period of one year from the date of the declaration of the result.

  • Application Form Dates Released: 

    • Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay has released the CEED 2020 Application Form Dates.

    • CEED 2020 Application Form will be available from 9th October 2019 till 9th November 2019 on the official website.

    • Candidates are advised to submit their Application Form before the last date. The candidate will get 1 day extra to submit their Application form (with late fee).


CEED 2020 Important Dates

  • Availability: CEED 2020 Application Form will be available from 9th October 2019 (Tentative) till 9th November 2019 (Tentative) on the official website.

  • Admit Card: Admit Card will be released by the conducting authority on the official website (i.e. http://www.ceed.iitb.ac.in) on 1st January 2020 (Tentative).

  • Exam: CEED 2020 conducted by IIT Bombay will be held in online and offline mode on 19th January 2020 (Tentative). 

  • Results: Results for CEED 2020 will be announced by the conducting authority in the official website on 4th March 2020 (Tentative).

CEED 2020 Eligibility

  • Qualification: Candidates must have passed a Diploma/ Degree/ Postgraduate degree programme of minimum 3 years, or must be appearing for the final examination of such a program by July 2020 or must have passed the GD Arts Diploma programme (10+5 level) by July 2019.

  • Eligibility: Before applying for CEED, candidates are advised to check whether they meet the required eligibility criteria for admission to various institutes.

  • Age: There is no age limit for CEED 2020 and candidates can appear for the exam any number of times.

CEED 2020 Application Form

  • Availability: Application Form for CEED 2020 will be available on the official website from 9th October 2019 till 9th November 2019 (Tentative).

  • Mode: The payment of the Application Form for CEED 2020 can be done online using Credit/ Debit Card or Net Banking. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. If the candidate failed to submit the form on the last date then a late fee is applicable.

  • Application Fees: Application Fees will be INR 2600 for all category candidates and INR 1300 for (SC/ ST/ PWD/ Women) candidates.

CEED 2020 Exam Pattern

  • Question Pattern: Question Paper will consist of 2 sections- Part A and Part B.

    • Part A contains objective type questions (Multiple-Choice Questions, Multiple Select Questions and Numerical Answer Questions).

    • Part B consists of questions that are aimed at Testing Design, Drawing, and Writing Skills.

  • Duration: The time duration of the CEED 2020 exam is a totally 3 hours (Part A- 1 hour + Part B- 2 hours).

  • Mode: CEED 2020 will be conducted through Online and offline mode.

CEED 2020 Admit Card

  • Admit card: Candidates who have successfully submitted the CEED 2020 Application Form can download the Admit Card from the official website on 1st January 2020 (Tentative).

  • Credentials: The candidate can download the Admit Card by entering the credentials such as Application Number, Date of Birth.

  • Admission: The candidates need to preserve the CEED 2020 Admit Card till they get the admissions.

  • Printout: Take a clear printout (in color) of the Admit Card before coming to the Exam Centre.

CEED 2020 Syllabus

  • Sections: According to CEED 2020 Syllabus, the question paper will be divided into 2 parts.

    • Part A: Online objective paper consisting of topics in Visualization and Spatial Ability, Environmental and Social Awareness, Analytical and Logical Reasoning, Language and Creativity, Observation and Design Sensitivity. 

    • Part B: It will be an offline paper-based test that evaluates Drawing, Creativity, Communication Skills, Analytical and Problem-Solving skills.

CEED 2020 Results

  • Declaration: CEED 2020 Results will be announced on the official website on 4th March 2020 (Tentative) by the conducting authority.

  • Scorecard: After the declaration of the Result the Scorecard will be available for the candidate to download on the official website i.e. ceed.iitb.ac.in.

  • Validity: CEED 2020 Scorecard is valid for a period of one year from the date of the declaration of the result.

  • Merit List: After the preparation of the merit list, CEED 2020 Counselling process will begin.

CEED 2020 Counselling

  • Commencement: Candidates whose names are on the CEED 2020 Merit List will be eligible for Counselling conducted by IIT Bombay after the declaration of CEED 2020 Result.

  • Counseling Call Letter: To appear in the counseling, qualified candidates must download the counseling call letter from the official site of CEED 2020.

  • Admission: After seat allotment by the candidates in their respective colleges according to their marks, applicants will have to report to the allotted college to complete the admission process.

General Instruction for CEED 2020

  • Candidates can download admit card till the test day from the official website

  • Only admit card and original ID proof will be allowed inside the examination hall

  • Obtaining and providing help during the exam is not allowed

  • Candidates should reach the examination center one hour prior to the commencement of exam

  • Candidates can only enter the examination hall 30 minutes prior to the commencement of exam

  • No conversation in the examination hall is allowed

  • Candidates found with a barred item will be disqualified

  • Candidates are not allowed to leave the examination center before the conclusion of the exam

  • No electronic gadgets like calculators, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, digital watches are allowed in the examination hall.

  • No extra sheets, pages, rough sheets are allowed in the examination hall by the candidates.
