What is AILET?

Full form of AILET is All India Law Entrance Test. It is a national level entrance exam to offer various courses in the stream of Law. AILET 2020 examination is conducted by National Law University, Delhi which has the complete authority to conduct the examination and to allocate the seats to the applied candidates.


The main objective of the university is to evolve and impart interdisciplinary and comprehensive legal education that is socially relevant. AILET 2020 Important Dates/ Schedule

  • Application: The AILET 2020 Application form will be released on January 4, 2020 and the candidates have to submit the filled application form within July 11, 2020.

AILET 2020 Eligibility Criteria

  • Qualification: Depending on the reservation for the category or according to the general merit cut-off of AILET, the candidate needs to have scored 50% of aggregate marks in the 10+2 qualifying examination for LLB, in the LLB qualification exam to apply for LLM and similarly in the LLM examination to apply for P.h.D.
  • Scoring: Candidates need to have scored a minimum of at least 50 percent marks in 10+2 to seek admission for a five-year integrated law programme. To aim for admission into LLM program at NLU Delhi, the candidates need to have scored at least 55 per cent marks in aggregate of the subjects in the LLB paper to qualify for LLB degree or equivalent.
  • AILET 2020 Eligibility Criteria to be reviewed carefully by the candidate before filling the application form, to avoid the risk of application form getting rejected during the admission process.
  • Age Limit: Candidates above 18 years of age are eligible for AILET 2020.

AILET 2020 Admit Card

The admit card notifications are given out via push notifications from the Getmyuni website for the registered candidates. The applicants are advised to subscribe to the notifications to keep abreast of the release of important details.

  • Availability: The candidates can download their Admit Card for the AILET exam from July 27, 2020 on the official site.
  • Credentials: To download the Admit Card, the candidates have to enter their Login ID/ Application Number and Password.

AILET 2020 Application Form

  • Application Process: The candidates have to enter the personal, contact, and academic details while filling the Application form for the AILET exam.
  • Payment: The fee amount for AILET 2020 Application form is INR 3050 however, for SC/ST/PwD candidates the fee is INR 1050. Candidates have to take utmost care while filling out the application form to eliminate the possibility of causing any errors.

AILET 2020 Exam Pattern

The AILET 2020 Exam will be conducted in Remotely Proctored Test Mode but usually, this is an offline test. The NTA will be providing students with instructions and a mock test before the AILET 2020 Exam. The candidates should check the official website for any new information.

The AILET 2020 Exam has negative marking. For every incorrect answer given, the applicant will be losing 0.25 marks. The majority of the scores for the AILET exam is from the MCQ's. The applicants will also have to write an essay and the split of marks is given below:

  • For BA LLB: The AILET 2020 exam for BA LLM will be conducted for 150 marks which will be conducted for a total of 90 minutes.
  • For LLM: The exam for LLM will be conducted for a total of 150 marks in which there will be 100 MCQ's each carrying one mark and an essay for 50 marks.

The syllabus for the exam will give the candidates a clear idea of how to prepare for the law entrance exam and gives an edge over other applicants who are unaware of such criteria.

  • Topics: The candidates should concentrate on topics such as English, General Knowledge, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning etc.
  • Reference Books: The candidates can refer to the reference books as prescribed by the board.

Yes, the AILET Exam has negative marking. There is a penalty of 0.25 for every wrong answer which means students will lose 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

There are a total of 80 seats available for the AILET Exam out of which 70 seats are for direct merit basis and the rest 10 are reserved for foreign nationals on merit basis [5 seats are for foreign nationals and 5 seats are for OCI/PIO]

The AILET Exam Application Fee is different for each category. For the General category, it is INR 3050, For candidates belonging to SC/ST category, it is INR 1050 and for the PWD candidates, it is INR 1050.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

 The eligibility criteria are a minimum of  60% in 12th, and yes I took up an entrance exam of CLAT, AILET, SET. In CLAT it depends on the cutoff, sometimes the cutoff is very high and sometimes it is very low. But we can assume around 135 from 200 minimum cutoff for general category.
