  • The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing a BA LLB Course is Pass in the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system with aggregate not less than 50% of the total marks or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Applicants who have obtained + 2 Higher Secondary Pass Certificate or First Degree Certificate after prosecuting studies in distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for admission.

  • The maximum age for seeking admission into a stream of integrated Bachelor of a law degree program is limited to 20 (twenty) years in case of general category of applicants and to 22 (twenty-two) years in case of applicants from SC, ST, and other Backward communities.

  • Admission to the First Year of the 5-Year BA, LLB Degree Program is made strictly on merit, based on the Entrance Examination. An interview may be conducted as well.

  • National-level Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) / State Level Law Entrance test scores are accepted, they provide extra weight-age in some institutes, while in others, these are not mandatory.

  • Most of the institutes reserve a certain number of seats for foreign candidates.

  • Certain numbers of seats are also reserved for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, along with reservation for Persons with Disability.

    • CLAT: Conducted on a rotational basis by 19 NLUs in May, this exam is meant for admission in law course. The syllabus for this test encompasses Current Affairs, English, Reasoning, Mathematics, and Legal Aptitude.

    • LSAT: This paper pencil bases entrance test is conducted by LSAC for admission in various law programs across the country for Nearly 76 colleges. The syllabus for this test encompasses Analytic reasoning, logical reasoning, and reading comprehension.

  • The applicant has to go through individual entrance exams conducted by the universities/colleges in accordance with the university's admission procedure.

Anyone who is willing to take admission can do so by giving IP University law entrance Exam. Admission in the college is done through IP University only. Student having 50% or more marks in 12th board exam is eligible to take CET Exam.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

Getting admission into an NLU is not an easy task. You need to write the Common Law Admission Test that is CLAT for getting a seat in a law school. The eligibility for CLAT is that the student should have passed 12th class examinations from a recognized national board, with more than 45% (general) & 40% (reserved) There are 21 national law universities (19+NLU Delhi+ NLU Shimla), For securing a seat in the top 5 NLUs you need a rank below 500, with marks ranging from 130 to 145 depending on the level of paper.
