Tamilnadu Teachers Eligibility Test (TNTET) is conducted to recruit aspiring candidates to the role of teachers in the primary (class 1 - class 5) and higher primary sections (class 6 - class 8) of the schools of Tamilnadu. What is TNTET?

About TNTET Exam: The full form of TNTET is Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test. Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) of Tamil Nadu conducts the Teacher Eligibility Test to determine the eligibility of the candidates as teaching professional to teach students of classes one to eight. The candidates who will qualify the TNTET exam will be awarded an eligibility certificate with a validation period of seven-year and will be considered eligible for Primary & Upper Primary Level posts of teachers in the state of Tamil Nadu

Earlier the TNTET 2020 Exam was scheduled for June 27 and 28, 2020 but because of the growing threat of COVID-19, the exam was postponed. It is a state-level competitive exam for the recruitment of candidates into the teaching field. In TNTET there are 2 papers which are TNTET Paper I and Paper-II.

TNTET 2020 Exam Dates

The TRB released the official notification of TNTET exam on May 04, 2020. In the notification, it provided various information about application form date, eligibility criteria, etc. Later, it announced the TNTET 2020 Exam Dates and admit card release dates separately. The TNTET exam was supposed to be conducted on June 27, 2020 and June 28, 2020. However, due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, the exam dates have been postponed. 

The correct dates will be published here as soon as the official notification from the conducting authority is out. The dates given below are tentative.

TNTET 2020 Eligibility

Candidates aspiring for the TNTET exam must check the eligibility criteria before appearing for the exam. The Teachers Recruitment Board has set the eligibility criteria for TNTET Paper-I and Paper-II. Candidates should fulfil all the eligibility criteria in terms of age limit, nationality and educational qualifications, else they will be subjected to rejection under the authority of TRB.

Nationality

Candidate must be an Indian citizen to be eligible for the TNTET exam.

Age Limit

Applicants should be older than 18 and shouldn't cross the age limit of 40. For the reserved & special category, there will advantage of age relaxation.

Educational Qualification

The academic qualification required for both the papers are given below:

Minimum educational qualifications for applicants to attend the Paper-I are:

  • Candidates should have done higher secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks. And he/she should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or any other name it is known by.

or

  • Applicants should have passed higher secondary or it's equivalent with at least 45% marks. Along with this candidates should have passed in a two-year diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with the NCTE regulations 2002. Final year candidates also can apply.

or

  • Students should have done Higher Secondary education or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks. They should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of 4 years Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).

or

  • Aspirants should have cleared Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks. Along with it they should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

or

  • Candidate should be doing graduation and passed/appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

or

  • Applicants should have done graduation with 50% marks and passed/appearing in the final year of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)

Note: Candidates should note that if they have passed in D.T.ed./D.Ele.Ed. from other stated than Tamil Nadu then they should submit an evaluation certificate.

Minimum educational qualifications for applicants to attend the Paper-II are:

  • Candidates should have done graduation and passed/appearing in the final year of two years of Diploma in Elementary Education.

Or

  • Applicants should have done graduation with at least 50% marks. And they should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

Or

  • Students should have done graduation with at least 45% marks. They should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), in accordance with the NCTE Regulations.

Or

  • Aspirants should have passed Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks. They should have also passed or should be appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).

Or

  • Students should have passed higher secondary with at least 50% marks. They should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed.

Or

  • Candidates should have done graduation with at least 50% marks. They should have also passed or should be appearing in the final year of B.Ed (Special Education).

Or

  • A candidate who has B.Ed qualification from an institute which is recognized by the NCTE eligible to appear in TET.

Or

  • Students who are pursuing any of the teacher education courses which are recognized by the NCTE or the RCI.

TNTET 2020 Application Process

The TRB will release the application form soon at the official website. Once the application form is released, candidates need to fill the TNTET 2020 application form details and submit it before the last date. Candidates can go through the following step by step process to complete the TNTET 2020 application form.

How to apply for TNTET?

Once the Teachers Recruitment Board releases the online application form, the candidates can follow these steps to fill the application form:

  • Step 1: Candidates need to visit the official website of the Teachers Recruitment Board - trb.tn.nic.in
  • Step 2: On the homepage of the website, click on "Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) – 2020". A new page will be redirected. 
  • Step 3: Fill in all the mandatory details in the TNTET application form. Candidates must provide their personal details such as parent's name, gender, religion, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, category etc and education details such as graduation degree, year of passing, CGPA/percentage obtained etc.
  • A unique user ID and password will be generated at the time of form filling. The valid email address and phone number will be used for communication until the announcement of results.
  • Step 4: Upload the recent passport size photo of the candidate and the scanned image of the signature. The specifications of the document are given in the TNTET 2020 application form section
  • Step 5: In the final step candidates must pay the fee online through Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card. You should remember that there is no option to pay the fee through any offline modes.
  • Step 6: Submit the application form before the mentioned date. After the application form is duly submitted, the candidate must download and take a printout of the completed TNTET 2020 application form for future references.

Note:

  • Candidates need to use separate applications for Paper I and Paper-II.
  • Any application form without image and/or signature will be rejected.
  • Candidates have to fill in the application form with utmost care. Else if they make a mistake then TRB won't entertain any correspondences regarding such matters and will reject the application form.

TNTET 2020 Application Form Details

Candidates can apply for the TNTET through online application form only. Candidates need to access the application form at the official website- trb.tn.nic.in. Candidates have to visit this website and click on the TNTET 2020 application form link. The application date for the TNTET online application will be released soon. 

Examination Fee: The TNTET 2020 examination fee for the general category candidates is INR 500. If you belong to the reserved category (i.e. SC, SCA, ST and Person with Disability), then you have to pay an examination fee of INR 250. Candidates must enter their category details properly at the time of filling the TNTET 2020 application form, since the TRB has announced that there is no refund policy.

Note: Once all the candidates have submitted the application form, the Tamilnadu Recruitment Board (TRB) will not allow any correction in the TNTET 2020 application form. So they have to carefully fill all the details and proofread once, before submitting the form.

TNTET 2020 Exam Pattern

When an aspirant is preparing for the TNTET 2020 exam, they need to know the exact paper pattern along with the syllabus which will help them to plan ahead and prepare for the exam. The question paper will consist of only MCQs type of questions. This means the candidates have to select one correct answer out of given multiple options.

TNTET 2020 Paper-I Pattern

The Paper-I comprises 5 sections and each section carries 30 questions. Paper-I will have 150 Multiple Choice Questions and the total time duration is 180 minutes. The Exam pattern for TNTET Paper I is as follows:

TNTET 2020 Paper-II Pattern

The paper-II comprises of 4 sections in which 3 sections carry 30 questions and 1 section carries 60 questions. The paper-II will have 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and the total exam duration is 180 minutes. The exam pattern for TNTET Paper II is as follows:

TNTET 2020 Syllabus

Candidates should be aware of the TNTET 2020 Syllabus which is prescribed by the Teachers Recruitment Board. This will help them plan and prepare well for the exam. The syllabus of TNTET has remained the same for the past couple of years. There was no change in the syllabus of TNTET Paper I and Paper-II. Syllabus for Paper I and Paper II varies and they are as follows:

TNTET 2020 Admit Card

Candidates need to visit the official website of Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) to download the TNTET 2020 Admit card. It is tentatively expected to be released 2 weeks before the exam day. If a candidate has applied for both paper 1 and paper 2, he/she has to download both the admit cards separately. The release date of TNTET 2020 admit card will be updated once the notification is out.

Steps to download TNTET Admit Card?

Candidates can follow these steps to download the admit card

  • Step 1: Candidates need to visit the official website of TNTET 2020 - www.trb.tn.nic.in
  • Step 2: In the homepage, candidates need to click on the "log in" button.

  • Step 3: Next, candidates have to login by entering their Email ID/User Name and Password which was filled at the time TNTET 2020 application form submission.

  • Step 4: After the successful login, candidates should click on “Generate Admit Card”. The admit card will be displayed on the screen.

  • Step 5: Candidates are advised to download the TNTET 2020 admit card and take the printout of the same.

NOTE:

TNTET 2020 Exam Centres

The Teachers Recruitment Board will conduct the TNTET 2020 in all districts. The TNTET 2020 Exam Centre details will be mentioned on the admit card along with other important details. Candidates must choose the exam city of their preference at the time of filling the TNTET application form.

TRB reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of exam centres depending on the number of seats and applicants. It also reserves right to re-allot candidates due to administrative reasons.

TNTET 2020 Results

  • TNTET 2020 results will be published on the official website (trb.tn.nic.in). After the one month of the TNTET 2020 exam, results will be announced on the official website. 
  • TRB will release notification on the official website which will contain details about TNTET Result 2020 Date. Once it is released we will update the result date and other information.
  • Candidates have to clear both Paper-1 and Paper-2 with an average mark of 60%.
  • The scorecard of TNTET exam 2020 will be valid for a duration of 7 years.

Steps to download the TNTET Result

Candidates can follow the steps given below to download the TNTET 2020 Results:

  • Step-1: Candidates have to first visit the official website of TRB.

  • Step-2: On the homepage of the website, candidates need to click on the ‘TNTET 2020 Result’. A PDF will appear with the roll number of shortlisted candidates.

  • Step-3: Download the PDF file of TNTET 2020 result.

  • Step-4: Search your roll number in the given list carefully to check your result.

TNTET Recruitment

TRB does not offer recruitment through TNTET. Candidates should take another exam related to recruitment. TNTET will give a Score which will be valid for 7 years. This score will be used as one of the factors for recruitment.

General Instructions

  • Candidates who have scored marks 60% or above in TNTET in either of the papers will receive a pass certificate. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will get a relaxation of 5%.
  • TNTET Score is valid for a duration of 7 years.
  • TNTET certificate doesn't guarantee you a job as a teacher. It merely serves as one of the factors in appointment as a teacher.
  • According to School Education (TRB) Department, as per G.O.(Ms)No.149 dated 20.07.2018, The candidates who have qualified TNTET will have to appear another competitive exam which is related to recruitment.
