About TNTET 2025
The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) is the conducting authority for the Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test (TNTET). Candidates who want to teach classes 1 to 8 in the government schools of Tamil Nadu must appear for this state-level exam. Selected candidates are allotted the posts of Primary and Upper Primary Level teachers.

TNTET 2025 Eligibility Criteria
The TRB sets the TNTET 2025 eligibility criteria for the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET). The eligibility criteria for both papers are different. Furthermore, only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can appear for the TNTET 2025 examination.

TNTET Paper 1 (Classes 1 to 5)
- Candidates should have done higher secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks. He/she should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or any other name it is known by.
- Applicants should have passed higher secondary or its equivalent with at least 45% marks. Along with this, candidates should have passed a two-year diploma in Elementary Education by the NCTE regulations 2002. Final-year candidates can also apply.
- Students should have done Higher Secondary education or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks. They should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor's in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
- Aspirants should have cleared Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks. Along with it they should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- The candidate should have passed graduation or be appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Applicants should have graduated with 50% marks and passed/appeared in the final year of the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
NTET Paper 2 (Classes 6 to 8)
- Candidates should have graduated and passed/appeared in the final year of two years of a Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Applicants should have graduated with at least 50% marks. They should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
- Students should have graduated with at least 45% marks. They should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of Bachelor's in Education (B.Ed.), as per the NCTE Regulations.
- Aspirants should have passed Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks. They should have also passed or should be appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor's in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
- Students should have passed higher secondary with at least 50% marks. They should have passed or should be appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.A/B.Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed.
- Candidates should have graduated with at least 50% marks. They should have also passed or should be appearing in the final year of B.Ed (Special Education).
- A candidate who has a B.Ed qualification from an institute which is recognised by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET.
- Students who are pursuing any of the teacher education courses which are recognised by the NCTE or the RCI.
Note: Candidates should note that if they have passed in D.T.ed./D.Ele. Ed. from other states than Tamil Nadu, then they should submit an evaluation certificate. Candidates applying for TNTET 2025 Paper-2 can have either of the qualifications listed below.
TNTET Application Form 2025

General Instructions
The following are the general instructions that the candidates should consider during recruitment.
- Candidates who have scored marks 60% or above in TNTET in either of the papers will receive a pass certificate. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories will get a relaxation of 5%.
- The TNTET score is valid for 7 years.
- A TNTET certificate does not guarantee a job. It merely serves as one of the factors in appointment as a teacher.
- According to the School Education (TRB) Department, as per G.O.(Ms)No.149 dated 20.07.2018, candidates who pass the TNTET will have to appear for another competitive exam for recruitment.
