  • October 10, 2020: The second round of the PESSAT 2020 Counselling process is postponed and will be conducted in the third or fourth week of October 2020. Earlier, it was scheduled to be held on October 17 and 18, 2020.

  • August 24, 2020: The PESSAT 2020 examination will also be conducted on September 2 and September 3, as a buffer examination. The results for the same will be announced on September 7, 2020, tentatively.


What is PESSAT?

PESSAT stands for the People's Education Society Scholastic Aptitude Test. PESSAT 2020 is a National-level online entrance exam conducted by the PES University, Bangalore, in the state of Karnataka to screen candidates for intake into various courses offered by it. PESSAT is the foremost step for candidates who want to get admissions into PES University for Under-Graduate (UG) and Post-Graduate (PG) programs.


Based on the candidate's performance in the PESSAT 2020, PES University offers admissions to its various courses. Application forms will be available for students on the PESSAT 2020 official website from October 4, 2019

Engineering exams will be conducted at various exam centres which are located all over the country for PESSAT. But, the test centres for all other courses will be conducted in the PES University Bangalore campus only. Candidates who wish to get admission into any of the above-mentioned courses in the PES University have to appear for the PESSAT Exam. PESSAT 2020 Exam Date

The PESSAT 2020 application forms were released on the official website on October 4, 2019. The exam is usually held in May 2020 and the results were to be out by the end of May 2020. The Exam happens on multiple dates. Later, buffer exam is also held. The announcement of result is done at once. Post declaration of PESSAT 2020 results, more than one counselling rounds are conducted.

PESSAT 2020 Eligibility

Candidates who are interested in appearing for the PESSAT 2020 must ensure that they fulfil all of the eligibility criteria set by the PES University. PESSAT 2020 Eligibility varies from course to course, so candidates are required to check the eligibility for the course that they are interested in applying to.

PESSAT 2020 Exam Pattern

PESSAT 2020 will only be conducted in online mode and each of the courses has a different exam pattern. PESSAT 2020 exam pattern for B.Tech courses is very simple where the candidates will have 3 hours (180 Minutes) to complete the examination. Exam duration for other courses is 2 hours (120 Minutes).

There will be about 180 MCQs for 180 marks (1 mark for each question) and there will be no negative marking. Candidates can take full advantage of the no negative marking system and attempt all the questions. Candidates can refer to the PESSAT sample papers from the previous years to have an idea of the exam pattern.

PESSAT 2020 Application Form

PESSAT 2020 Application Form will be made available by the PES University on their official from October 4, 2019.

Candidates can apply for PESSAT 2020 only through online mode using Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card. PESSAT exam fee is INR 1050 which can either be paid through a debit/credit card online or offline by issuing a demand draft drawn in favour of 'PES University General Fund' which is payable in Bangalore, or through challan.

Uploading Documents

The candidates are required to upload the scanned images of their photograph and signature. They should be of the prescribed format which is JPEG/JPG or PNG only. Make sure that the photograph is a recent one.

Important Notes:

  • There is no facility for correction of the PESSAT application form once it is submitted. Then, check twice before submitting the PESSAT 2020 Application form.
  • You can find your lost PESSAT Registration Number on the official website using your email and other credentials.
  • You can also check your PESSAT Registration Status on the website. Click 'Check Registration Status' for the same on the website.

PESSAT 2020 Application Process

Candidates who are interested in taking the exam should visit the official website and register. Follow the steps given below to register for the exam.

  • Visit the official website of PES University.
  • Enter the necessary details such as Course, Name, Gender, Date of Birth, and Email.
  • The Login ID is generated and sent to your email address.
  • Using that login ID the candidate needs to log into the website and fill in the application form.

Note: Any error during application form filling may result in cancellation of candidature whether it might be intentional or otherwise. But such candidates can apply through another application and this will be considered.

PESSAT 2020 Admit Card

PESSAT Admit Card 2020 will not be sent to candidates individually and is only available on the official website of PES University. PESSAT Admit Card 2020 for B.Tech and B.Arch can be obtained from the official website. Candidates are required to download it and take print of it to carry at PESSAT Exam Center. 

Steps to download PESSAT 2020 Admit Card

Step 1: Go to the official website of PESSAT 2020

Step 2: An admit card tab/link will be visible on the screen, click on it.

Step 3: A login window will appear, use your credentials.

Step 4: A slot booking section will appear on the screen, book your date and time

Step 5: After successful completion of slot booking, PESSAT 2020 Admit Card will be displayed on the screen

Step 6: Review it, and download.

Step 7: Take a print of your Admit Card

Note: The candidate will not be permitted into the exam centre without admit card, so it is a compulsory document to be carried along on the date of the exam.

PESSAT 2020 Results

Results for PESSAT 2020 will be announced by the conducting authority, PES University. For every course other than B.Tech, the PESSAT Results will be declared after 3 days of exam. A merit list and individual scores will both be declared. Results for every slot will be declared at once. For PESSAT 2020, the date of results is September 7, 2020.  

PESSAT 2020 Results can be checked on the PES website by entering the candidate's registration number and date of birth. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their exam scores and performance in the interview. A PESSAT #yearmerit list depicting ranks of candidates will most likely to be declared around the result Date. Students clearing the cutoff will be called for the counselling.   • A login page will appear, use your date of birth and roll number to log in.
  • Click on the submit tab, and the PESSAT score card will appear.

PESSAT 2020 Cut Off

The exam authorities declare the PESSAT Cut Off in few weeks after the exam. The result and the cut off of the PESSAT will be available on the official website. Shortlisted candidates are asked to attend the counselling process of the PESSAT. The PESSAT Cut Off will differ for every course offered at the university.

PESSAT 2020 Counselling

The counselling process is done to allot seats in PES University. Only those who have made it in the merit list are allowed for the Counselling Process. Candidates who are selected based on merit will be required to fill an application online with their details and secured marks.

The Date of PESSAT Counselling for this year has been announced. The counselling will be conducted in two rounds. The first round will happen between September 09, and September 11, 2020. While the second round will happen in the last week of September, 2020.

PESSAT 2020 Counselling Process usually begins from June and the first round of counselling was to be conducted in June 2020. And the second round of counselling regularly conducts in July every year. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their scores and the number of seats available. All the shortlisted candidates will be called for the counselling session according to their allocated dates.

PESSAT 2020 Reference Book

The preparation for PESSAT requires a thorough revision of High School Concepts. For instance, the PESSAT for B.Tech will cover a syllabus similar to JEE Main, So NCERT of Physics, Chemistry, and Maths will make your base for study, Along with this, you can use books like HC Verma, ABC, DC Pandey, RS Agrawal etc. For Logical Reasoning and Verbal Ability, you can prepare from Lucent and Manorama Books. For PESSAT preparation, the idea is to have strength in the basics with a blend of practice.

PESSAT Scholarship

PESSAT offers multiple chances of scholarships for the aspirants. The aspirants who show excellence and belong to specified criteria of scholarship are awarded fee-waiver or cash reward. Corporate Scholarships: Final year PSE students get the chance to avail this Scholarship, there is a number of corporate/private companies that offer scholarships to candidates. 

MRD Scholarships: A tution fee waiver (Upto 40%) is provided to the candidates who secure rank in top 20%.

Distinction Awards: Students with 7.5 above CGPA get a distinction. 

Rural Scholarship: A selected number of PESSAT students hailing from rural background get free education in engineering.
