IDAT 2018 Introduction:

The Indian Institute of Art and Design conducts IDAT(IIAD Design Aptitude Test) an eligibility test,for admission in IIAD'S undergraduate programmes. IDAT was held on 14th April 2018 in New Delhi and 23rd April 2018 in Bengaluru, Kolkata, Lucknow and Bhopal. IDAT is the first stage of the selection process for IIAD undergraduate programmes followed by Portfolio assessment and studio simulation. IDAT 2018 Sample question papers are available here.

  • About: IDAT is the entrance examination that checks the eligibility of the students to join in the courses offered by the Indian Institute of Art and Design in collaboration with Kingston university, London. The IIAD campus is located in New Delhi.

  • Conducted by: The IDAT exam is conducted by The Indian Institute of Art and Design in several centres across India. The institution has the supreme right to cancel any centre, that does not have enough number of applicants.

  • Level of exam: The IIAD's Design Aptitude Test is a national level entrance exam taken up by many aspirants across the country through several centres available.

  • Frequency of IDAT: IDAT is conducted once in an year, before the academic year starts for checking the eligibility of the students. It is generally held in the month of april.

  • Courses: IIAD offers three undergraduate courses in collaboration with the Kingston university, London. B.A.(hons) in Fashion Design, B.A.(hons) in Interior architecture and Design , B.A.(hons) in Communication Design.

  • Mode of exam: The IDAT entrance exam is conducted only through offline mode. Answer sheets and test papers will be given only by the IIAD exam centres on the day of exam.

  • Counselling: After the declaration of results, IIAD conducts the second round of selection process i.e. Portfolio assessment and Studio Simulation. After this the final list of candidates is announced by the institution.

IDAT 2018 Important Dates:

  • Applications: IDAT 2018 Applications were available from 15th October 2017 till 31st May 2018. To know more about Applications click here.

  • Date of examination: The IDAT 2018 exams were conducted on 14th April 2018 in New Delhi and on 23rd April 2018 in Bengaluru, Kolkata, Lucknow, Bhopal.

  • Second Round: Portfolio Assessment and Studio Simulation took place between 15th April 2018 and 17th April 2018 in New Delhi and between 23rd April 2018 and 24th April 2018 in Bengaluru, Kolkata, Lucknow and Bhopal.

IDAT 2018 Exam pattern:

  • Sections: IDAT 2018 has two main sections. One is Logical Reasoning and the other one is creative thinking and visual ability.

  • Marks: IDAT exams are given for 100 marks. Each question is based on a specific attribute.

  • Attributes: An IDAT question paper is based on the following attributes Lateral Thinking, General knowledge, Storytelling, Remote Association, Transformation, Alternative object use, Logic, Visual skills, Colour and geometric exploration.

IDAT 2018 Application Form:

  • Fee: The application form of an IDAT costs INR.2000. This fee can be paid through cash or Demand draft if applied through offline mode. Demand drafts should be made in the name of Teamwork education foundation payable at New Delhi. If Applied through online mode then INR 2000 can be paid through debit card or credit card or through netbanking facilities of al major banks.

  • Application: Applications can be filled either by online mode or by offline mode. The online application contains two categories, one is the application form and the other one is the fees and refund policy. Offline applications can be taken from IIAD Campus and ISBF campus in New Delhi.

  • IDAT Admit cards are available for download in the official page of Indian Institute of Arts and Design.

  • Application number and Date of birth need to be entered in the page to generate admit cards.

IDAT 2018 Guidelines:

  • Things to bring: Pen/Pencils, A gluestick, A ruler, A Pen, A small pair of scissors, Dry colours(Pencils/Pastes).

  • Other provisions: Answer sheets and Test papers will be provided by the exam centre on the day of exam.

  • Application Checklist: Application form must have a recent passport sized photograph, Application form with cash or demand draft, Photocopies of certificates, Scholarship application properly filled, if applied and statement of essays.
