AIIMS PG is a national level entrance exam conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi, for admission in Postgraduate courses. Through this entrance exam, admission will be offered in MD/MS/M.Ch.(6 years)/DM(6 years)/MDH courses.

Candidates qualifying the test will get admission in various AIIMS, New Delhi and six other AIIMS (Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur & Rishikesh). This exam is conducted twice every year in the month of January and July.

What is AIIMS PG?

About AIIMS PG exam: The full form of AIIMS PG is All India Institute of Medical Sciences Post Graduate Entrance Exam. The AIIMS PG entrance exam is a gateway for admission into MD, MS, M.Ch., DM, and MDS. It is a National level exam conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

About AIIMS: The AIIMS colleges are a group of autonomous government public medical colleges in India, which was established in 1956. All these institutes are declared as institutes of national importance by an Act of Parliament. Currently, there are 15 AIIMS in India. 8 more AIIMS institutes are expected to be established till 2025.

Level and Frequency: The AIIMS PG is a National Level Entrance Examination which is conducted in the month of January and July every year.

AIIMS PG 2021 Registration

The AIIMS PG 2021 Application form filling is a 6 step process. Candidates should mandatorily finish all the steps before the deadline in order to appear for the examination. The step by step process is mentioned below.

Basic Registration (Step 1 and 2)

  • Step 1: Candidates should fill basic details such as full name, DOB, category, gender, email ID, contact number to get the credentials. The login credentials will be sent to the email ID and mobile phone.
  • Login with the credentials received and change the password. Remember the credentials till the end of the admission process.
  • Step 2: Candidates care required to upload the scanned copy of their recent photograph, signature and left-hand thumb impression in JPEG format. Candidates who have successfully completed the basic registration can move towards the final registration as given below.

Final Registration (Step 3 - 6)

  • Step 3 - Qualification and Address Details: Candidates need to enter the details of their qualifications like qualifying exam name and status of the exam, and also provide the communication address.
  • Step 4 - Fee Payment: Payment can be done through online mode only using Debit card/Credit card and net banking. Take the printout of the payment receipt for future correspondence.
  • Step 5 - City Choice: Candidates should select the examination centre. The real-time seat availability will be shown at the time of choosing the exam city.
  • Step 6 - Print application form: In the final step, candidates should take the printout of the fully filled application form. Make sure there are no errors or discrepancy in the application form.

AIIMS PG 2021 Eligibility

Candidates aspiring to write the AIIMS PG 2021 must check the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. The detailed criteria to be eligible for the exam is mentioned below.

Educational Qualification

  • For MD/ MS degree, a candidate needs to hold an MBBS degree from any university duly recognized by the Medical Council of India or State Medical Councils.
  • For MDS degree, a candidate needs to hold a BDS degree from any university duly recognized by the Dental Council of India or State Dental Council.
  • The candidates must have secured 55% marks for General/ OBC category candidates and 50% marks for SC/ ST category candidates.

Rotatory Internship

A candidate must have completed his or her 12-month rotating Internship/ Practical Training by July 30, 2021. Candidates who cannot complete the said internship within the period till July 30, 2021, will be ineligible for registration of this examination.

Citizenship

The candidates applying for AIIMS PG 2021 must be an Indian citizen to satisfy AIIMS PG 2021 eligibility criteria. Anyone other than an Indian is not allowed to apply for AIIMS PG 2021 Registration.

Age Limit

There is no restriction on the age limit for the candidates who are willing to apply for AIIMS PG.

Number of Attempts

There is no limit on the number of attempts made by the candidates.

AIIMS PG 2021 Application Form

Registration Date

AIIMS PG 2021 Application Form was available on the official website from January 1, 1970 and the last date to submit the AIIMS PG 2021 Application Form was January 1, 1970.

Registration Fee

The category-wise registration fee for AIIMS PG 2021 is as follows: 

  • For General & OBC: INR 1500 + Transaction Charges as applicable
  • For SC/ ST: INR 1200 + Transaction Charges as applicable
  • The person with Benchmark Disability (PWBD): There is no Application Fee for PWBD category candidates.

Payment Mode

Candidates must pay the registration fee through Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking. Offline payment is not available for AIIMS PG 2021.

AIIMS PG 2021 Exam Centres

Centre: AIIMS PG 2021 will be conducted in 63 centres of the cities across India.

Choice: Applicants should indicate his/her choice of the city of examination at the time filling the Application Form.

Chance of Centre: The city of examination once chosen and allotted will not be changed and any request in this regard will not be entertained. Applicants should, therefore, indicate the choice of the city with the utmost care.

Cancellation: The conducting authority has the right to cancel or change the Exam Centre if necessary. Candidates have to accept the changes.

Exam Day Guidelines

Candidates appearing for the AIIMS PG 2021 exam must keep the following guidelines in mind on the day of the exam.

  • It is mandatory for all test-takers to carry a valid photo identity proof with them on the day of the examination.
  • AIIMS PG exam centres will not have provisions to keep bags or other valuables.
  • Eatables/ beverages/ water bottles are not allowed inside the examination hall.
  • The candidate must be present one hour before to the AIIMS PG 2021 Exam Centre for the verification, if not the candidates won't be allowed to write the examination.
  • Candidates have to carry Admit Card along with any Government Id to the Exam Centre on the day of the examination.
  • Other accessories (any Electronic devices, other papers, Any kind of folder, water bottle) will not be entertained at the exam hall.

AIIMS PG 2021 Admit Card

The All India Institute of Medical Science will release AIIMS PG 2021 admit card for the January session online, on November 10, 2021. The admit card contains details such as candidate's name, roll number, date of birth, photograph, signature, examination date and time, exam venue. No candidates will be allowed inside the examination hall without the AIIMS PG 2021 admit card.

How to Download the AIIMS PG 2021 admit card?

Follow these steps to download the AIIMS PG Admit Card:

  • Candidates need to first visit the official website
  • On the homepage of the website, select “Academic Courses” and click on “MD/MS/MCh/DM”
  • A new page will be redirected where candidates need to log in using the registration ID, password and captcha.
  • The AIIMS PG 2021 admit card will be displayed on your screen. Candidates must check all the details mentioned in the admit card. In case of any discrepancy, the candidate must contact the AIIMS authority.
  • Candidates should download the AIIMS PG 2021 admit card and keep it safely for future use.

AIIMS PG 2021 Result

Result Date: The Results of AIIMS PG 2021 were declared on May 15, 2021 on the official website. All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi is the authority that declares the AIIMS PG 2021 Results.

Scorecard: The scorecard is uploaded on the AIIMS official website. Applicants have to take the printout of the scorecard for their future use.

Merit List: AIIMS, New Delhi is responsible for publishing the merit list on its official website. AIIMS separately prepares the two types of merit list i.e. overall rank wise and roll number wise.

Cut-off: Cut-off marks are the minimum marks that are required by the candidate to appear in the merit list and shortlisted for counselling. The cut-off marks will be decided by the examination authority of AIIMS, New Delhi. Different categories have different cut-off scores.

AIIMS PG 2021 Counselling

Counselling Dates: The counselling for AIIMS PG 2021 dates will be announced soon. The counselling was conducted in 3 different rounds. 

Open Round of Online Seat Allocation: An open round of seat allotment for AIIMS PG 2021 will be organised online,  Candidates will be given a chance to exercise their choice (college and specialization/branch). 

The seat allocation of the open round was announced on August 19, 2021. After an open round of seat allocation, no further/extra round of seat allocation will be conducted by the AIIMS, New Delhi.

Counselling Process: All the shortlisted candidates will be called for AIIMS PG 2021 Counselling according to their rank in the merit list. A student’s final admission will depend upon their performance in the AIIMS PG 2021 exam. The points given below shows the counselling process for this year.

  • Firstly, students will be called for the counselling process based on their ranks in the merit list
  • Secondly, the reserved category candidates will be called for counselling to fill the seats
  • Students must be physically present at the time of counselling. They will be allocated seats based on their rank and order of preference.

Documents required during counselling

The following are the documents that candidates should carry with them for the AIIMS PG 2021 counselling:

  • Final Registration Slip
  • Admit card issued by AIIMS
  • Proof of deposit of original document or DD/RTGS/NEFT of INR 3 Lakh
  • Mark sheets of MBBS/BDS 1st, 2nd and 3rd professional examinations

  • An internship completion certificate from the head of the institution or college that the candidate will be completing the internship by July 31, 2021

Having knowledge of the exam pattern and books is not enough. There are some tips for the best preparation as well. These incorporate:

Time Management

Time Management is one of the significant factors that help in better results. Before planning for the examination, candidates must schedule their timings for each & every topic. They must spend 10 hours per day learning. A daily revision of at least two hours for each subject will be quite enough. AIIMS PG 2021 Exam Instructions

Candidates need to keep the following exam instructions in mind when appearing for the AIIMS PG 2021 exam:

  • The mode of examination is an online i.e. Computer-based Test (CBT). AIIMS PG aspirants should take a few mock tests as experience.
  • The test will begin exactly at the time mentioned on the AIIMS PG Admit Card. A prior announcement will be made by the invigilator.
  • The duration of the exam is 3 hours for MS/ MD and 1.5 hours for MDS.
  • All questions will carry equal marks i.e. 1.
  • There will be only one correct answer for each question from the given four options.
  • A negative marking scheme will be employed for evaluating the answers. Applicants should only answer the question if they are sure about it.
  • Unanswered questions will not affect the total marks
  • One mark will be allotted for each correct answer while 1/3rd marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • Applicants are required to sign the attendance sheet.
  • Admit card should be carried along with photo identity proof.

Candidates should upload a digital image of their photograph, left thumbprint and signature[scanned] at the time of registration along with the necessary documents asked.

The total number of seats available for the AIIMS PG 2020 January session examination is 548 as per the latest seat matrix released by the Institute.

The application fee for AIIMS PG 2020 is INR 1500 (general and OBC category) and INR 1200 (reserved category). There is no application fee for PWD Category candidates.

The final date for downloading the admit card was June 3, 2020.
