JCECE 2018 Introduction

  • History: Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board is a self-financed, autonomous incorporated body of State Government. The Government has constituted the Member of Board for taking decisions on policy and organizational matters in light of Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board Act. 2000. 
  • About: Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination is commonly known as JCECE and it is conducted by Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (J.C.E.C.E.B). 

  • The entrance exam is for getting admission into first-year professional courses like engineering, medical, architecture & agriculture in government & private affiliated colleges through JCECE board. 

  • Conducting Authority: It is conducted by the Government Of Jharkhand.

  • Courses: The Board conducts exam for granting admissions into undergraduate courses like B.Tech (Dairy Technology, Agriculture Engineering), B.Sc. Agriculture, B.V.Sc. & Animal Husbandry in Jharkhand. The application form is to be filled and submitted online.

  • Level: It is a state level entrance examination. The applicants, particularly from Jharkhand, who have taken up the PCM exam or PCB exam as part of their intermediate studies can take the test.

  • Frequency: It is conducted once a year, probably at the end of the month May and results are expected to be released by the end of June.

  • Subject Groups: There are mainly three different subject groups:

    • PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) for Engineering, Agriculture, Dairy Technology and Forestry courses.

    • PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) for B.V.Sc Courses.

    • PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology) for both Engineering and Medical courses.

The candidates who have qualified or are appearing for class 12th or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as well as Mathematics as an extra subject, and want to appear for JCECE 2018 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology will fall under PCMB Group.

JCECE 2018 Important Dates

  • Application Form: . The dates for application form submission is from 16th April 2018 to 10th May 2018 (few days after the PCM exam result 2019).

  • Admit Card: The JCECE admit card can be downloaded by the eligible candidates on the official website from 16th May 2018.

  • Exam Date: The examination schedule to conduct JCECE exam is from 28th May 2018.

JCECE 2018 Eligibility Criteria

  • Residential Criteria: The candidate should be an Indian national and also a local/permanent resident in the State of Jharkhand.

  • Age Limit: Candidates should belong to the bbelow-mentionedage group.

  • Education : Candidate must have passed in the 12th standard or equivalent  with a minimum aggregate of 45% in PCM Exam or PCB(Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology) and reserved categories should have 40% to qualify for the examination. Candidates must produce necesssary documents as proof of their PCM exam result.

  • Candidates should produce a resident certificate at the time of counselling process.

JCECE 2018 Application Form

  • Application Form Release Date: Application form will be available online to all candidates from 16th April 2018.

  • Application Form Fee: The application fee for PCB and PCM groups belonging to general/ BC-I /BC-II category is Rs.900 and those belonging to SC/ST category and female candidates is Rs.450.

Note : Applicants who are applying online need not send the hard copy of the application form to the conducting authority, JCECEB.


JCECE 2018 Admit Card

  • Availability: The applicants can download the admit card from the official website from 16th May 2018.

  • Admit Card Download: To download the admit card, the candidates are required to enter the application number, password and a security pin in order.

  • Mandatory: Applicants should carry the admit card to the exam centre , without which the entry the will be denied. 

  • Print Out : Candidates are reqiured to take a print out of the admit card for future reference.

JCECE 2018 Exam Pattern

  • Question paper: The exam pattern consists of 150 Multiple choice questions (MCQs) and will be given in both Hindi and English languages.

  • Exam Mode: Exam will be conducted in Offline Mode (pen and paper-based test).

  • Marking scheme : 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for the wrong answer.

  • Duration of the Exam: 1 hour is alloted for mathematics and 2 hours for physics and chemistry having 50 questions from each subject.

JCECE 2018 Syllabus

  • Syllabus:  The Question papers will be based on class 11th and class 12th of CBSE syllabus. 

  • Subjects: Syllabus consists of 4 subjects with topics related to  Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology. It would be helpful for the candidates if they can go through the reference books for exam preparation.

JCECE 2018 Exam Centre

  • Exam Centres : Entrance exam is conducted at various locations in Jharkand. Some of the centres are Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Dumka, and Hazaribagh of Jharkhand.

  • Centre selection : Applicants can choose any two centres from the list to appear for this merit exam and final allotment of the centre will be made by the Board.

  • Information on Admit Card: The JCECE exam date and address details of exam centre will be printed on the admit card.

JCECE 2018 Results

  • Result Date : JCECE Board will evaluate the answer sheets of the exam and declare the results on the official website on 11th June 2018.

  • Scorecard : The scorecard will have both the subject wise score and also the total score obtained by the candidate, along with the rank secured by the candidate in the entrance exam. 

  • Merit List : JCECE Board will release both the Combined Merit List and Category wise list on its official website.

  • Print Out : Candidates should take a printout of the score card as it may be required in the counselling purpose or correspondance, if any.

JCECE 2018 Counselling

  • Counselling Mode: JCECE Board will commence the counselling process from 29th June 2018.

  • Merit-list: After the results are declared, a merit list will be prepared which contains the candidate's name who are eligible to attend counselling process.

  • Number of Rounds : Counselling is conducted in two Rounds. If seats remain vacant in the first round, second round will be conducted.

  • Verification : Document verification will be done on the day of counselling and candidates are required to get all the necessary documents for verification.

JCECE 2018 Eligibility

  • Eligibility criteria regarding Nationality: The candidate should be the permanent resident of Jharkhand or Indian.

  • Eligibility criteria for the B.Tech course: The candidate should have passed their SC/10+2 or any equivalent examination with 45% marks. The applicant should be a resident of Jharkhand. There is no age limit.

  • Eligibility criteria for the MBBS course: The candidate should be 17 years old as on December 31st, 2018 to be eligible for the MBBS course. The applicants should have fulfilled the educational criteria according to the guidelines of M.C.I., Delhi. The candidates should have passed with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually.

JCECE 2018 Application Process

  • Registration fee: The registration fee for the General/BC-1/BC-2 category candidates for the PCM group(Engineering) is INR 1100, PCB group(Medical) it is INR 1200 and for PCMB(Medical and B.tech). The registration fees for the SC/ST category candidates for the PCM group(Engineering), PCB group(Medical) is INR 550 and for the PCMB(Medical and B.tech) group, it is INR 650.

  • Online process: The candidate has to visit the official website and click on the application form link. Candidates have to fill in their details. They will get an SMS with their registration number and login details. They have to log in and enter the details received. Candidates have to upload their scanned photograph and signature and pay the fees. Finally, they should click on the submit button to submit the form.

  • Date: The JCECE 2018 results will be declared in the month of July 2018.

  • Required: Candidates will be able to get the result from the official website using roll number or registration number.

  • The eligibility criteria in Birsa Institute of Technology, Dhanbad is you must be a PCM student and you must apply for JCECE. The best college through this exam is Birsa Institute of Technology which has discipline. 
  • The Entrance examination for Birsa Institute of Technology is JCECE.
  • I got 85 /150 and took Chemical engineering but Information Technology was also available. In order to get mechanical or electrical engineering, The cutoff for General category is 95-100 marks.

The Application Form Fees to JCECE differs by the former science group and caste set as criteria's. They are:

  • The Application Form fees for JCECE 2017 for the SC/ST group for PCM is Rs. 550 and for PCB is Rs. 650.

  • The Application Form fees for JCECE 2017 for the General/BC-1/BC-2 for PCM is Rs. 1100 and for PCB group is Rs. 1200.
