Soka University of America (SUA) was established in 2001 by Daisaku Ikeda, the founder of the Soka Gakkai International Buddhist movement, but maintains a secular curriculum that emphasizes pacifism, human rights, and the creative coexistence of nature and humanity. It is a private university in Aliso Viejo, California. It is located in a suburban area with a campus size of 103 acres. SUA was founded on the Buddhist principles of peace, human rights, and the sanctity of life, and the school maintains no religious affiliation.
