Located in Heslington, The University of York (UoY) came into existence in 1963. A wide variety of undergraduate research and postgraduate courses are offered by UoY in fields like sciences, computers, archaeology, management, mathematics, medicine, arts, psychology, and sociology, among others. Undergraduate Admission at the University of York 

Over 160 undergraduate courses are offered at the University of York in various divisions. Along with the regular courses, it also provides pre-sessional English and pathway courses. Pre-sessional English courses are for those students who lack the required proficiency in English. In contrast, pathway courses are for students who may fail to meet the academic or English language requirements. The following are the requirements for undergraduate admissions.

Post Graduate Admission at the University of York 

The University of York offers more than 300 postgraduate courses to its students every year. For PG courses such as MSc, PGCE, MA, PG Cert, PG Dip, etc., applicants must have a degree equivalent to a UK upper second class honors degree (2:1). However, for some of the courses, the lower second-class honors degrees are also accepted (2:2). The following are the requirements for postgraduate admissions.

University of York Application Process for International Students 

Undergraduate and postgraduate courses have different application processes. However, the general requirements for international students applying for both these courses remain the same. About 25% of international students study at the University of York, representing around 140 countries across the world. Given below are the required documents for admission at UoY.

Required Documents

  • All academic transcripts from the previously attended institutions
  • English proficiency proof (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE)
  • The last college attended transcript in English
  • An updated resume
  • At least 2 Letters of recommendation

How to Apply?

  • To apply for undergraduate courses at the University of York, international students need to apply through the UCAS portal. The application fee is 20 GBP for one course and 25 GBP for more than one course.
  • Students should apply at least 6-9 months in advance so that the visa process can take place easily.
  • You can apply independently or with the help of a university agent available in your country.
  • For postgraduate courses, you need to visit the official website of UoY and create an account. 
  • Fill in your personal details as well as other sections of the form. Upload necessary documents.
  • Review the application and submit it.
  • The University of York reverts according to UCAS timelines for UG applications. For PG applications, the results are announced within six weeks.

University of York Application Deadlines

The University of York offers undergraduate courses in the fall intake, and the PG taught programs in the Fall and Spring intakes. For undergraduate admissions, the deadlines decided by the UCAS portal are taken into consideration by UoY. The deadline has been extended to 29th January, 2022 (Closed) from 15th January 2022 for UG courses. The deadline for late submission of undergraduate applications is 30th June 2022, in case seats are vacant. Research-related courses do not have fixed deadlines, whereas PG taught courses to have different deadlines according to the course chosen by the student. Admission Procedure of the University of York

If you are an offer holder at the University of York, then you need to consider the following points:

  • First, you need to accept your offer on the UCAS track
  • The next step is to apply for a Tier 4 student visa at least three months before the course starts
  • The application fee is 348 pounds for international students
  • The decision of visa takes three weeks from the date of application
  • You should have the offer letter and should be able to speak, read, write and understand English
  • Applicants will have to pay 400 pounds per year as a health surcharge
