5The University of Hertfordshire (UOH) is a public university and is one of Hertfordshire's largest employers and has over 2,700 staff out of which 812 are academic members of staff. UOH has 11 schools and is proud to be a member of the University Alliance, Universities UK, and the European University Association. When was the University of Hertfordshire Established?

UOH was originally established as Hatfield Technical College that was founded in 1952. Later in 1992, Hatfield Polytechnic was granted university status by the British government and was renamed the University of Hertfordshire.

The University of Hertfordshire Campuses

The University of Hertfordshire imparts quality education to the students through its 4 campuses namely College Lane, De Havilland, Bayfordbury Campus, and Meridian House. The key features of the University of Hertfordshire campuses are listed below:

College Lane: This campus houses the original Hatfield Technical College building and is home to UOH's Learning Resource Centre, a combined library, and a computer center. The headquarter of the University of Hertfordshire Students' Union is at the College Lane campus.

Bayfordbury Campus: The Bayfordbury Campus houses the University of Hertfordshire's astronomical and atmospheric physics remote sensing observatory, Regional Science Learning Centre, field stations for biology, and geography programs. The Bayfordbury Observatory is one of the largest astronomical teaching observatories in the United Kingdom.

Meridian House: The Meridian House houses the eight clinical skills laboratories designated for the nursing and midwifery programs of the University of Hertfordshire.
