The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has distinct exam registration methods for regular and private candidates. Regular candidates must carry out the CBSE 12th board exam registration process through their respective schools, whereas the private candidates could register themselves via the official website. The registration dates were extended because of the delay in exam time table.

For the 2021 board exams, CBSE started the online application procedure for class 12th private candidates in October 2020. The last date to register for the exams with the late registration fee was 21st November. However, on 3rd December 2020, the board released a notification regarding the extension of registration dates. As per the latest announcement, the left out candidates could register until 9th December 2020. Moreover, CBSE had extended the application admission date for private candidates till 25th February 2021. The link to fill out the form was available till 5 PM.

As per the notification released on the CBSE website, already registered candidates could make the corrections on the registration form from 10th December 2020 to 14th December 2020. CBSE 12th Exam 2021 Registration Procedure for Private Candidates

Private candidates had to register on the official website to appear in the board exams 2021. Follow the steps mentioned below to perform the online exam registration.

Step 1: Visit the official website of CBSE -

Step 2: Click on the "Submission of Examination Forms by Private Candidates Class XII" link under the recent announcements section.

CBSE 12th Exam 2021 Registration Procedure for Regular Candidates

Regular candidates could not register by themselves on the official website for the board examination. Therefore, candidates were advised to approach their school authority once the CBSE released the exam registration notification. The school authorities perform the step-by-step procedure mentioned below for each candidate to register for class 12th board exams.

Step 1: Visit the official CBSE website of the board –

Step 2: Select the "Click for CBSE Website" link on the landing page.

CBSE Class 12th Registration 2021 Fee Details

CBSE had increased the registration fee for both the 10th and 12th classes. The board increased fees for all different categories ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 1200. As per the latest announcement, "General category" candidates had to pay Rs 1500/- whereas "ST/SC" candidates were required to pay Rs 1200/- for five subjects.

The fee was applicable for both class 10th and 12th. Earlier, general category candidates just had to pay Rs 150/- for additional subjects, but now they had to pay Rs 300/- for the same.

CBSE 12th Registration Fee Payment

CBSE was accepting fees only through digital payment methods such as Netbanking, Debit/Credit card (both national/ international). Applicants could deposit the fee via digital payment methods. No fee will be accepted via offline mode, i.e. DD/Postal Order/Money order/ cheque, etc. No registration form is to be accepted without a fee.

The fees paid were updated by the respective bank on the CBSE server within 24 hours of payment. In the case of bank-related transaction problems of the fee on the server, the candidates had to contact the respective bank. Contact details of the banks are given on the website of CBSE. The following information is to be notified to the bank for queries regarding payments:

Classification of CBSE 12th Candidates

Candidates appearing for the CBSE 12th board exam 2021 must be aware of the CBSE evaluation procedure. The following guidelines will give you insights into the vital steps before and after the CBSE 12th final examination.

Compartment Category Applicable to those candidates who could not pass in the main examination held in May and placed into the compartment and appear only in compartment subject in the coming examination. This is applicable for class 12th candidates. The candidate needs to give previous main examination details for applying. Candidates wishing to appear for all subjects should apply under the Failure category.
Improvement Applicable to those candidates who passed the main examination held in May (immediate previous main examination) and want to improve their performance. The candidate needs to give previous main examination details for applying. Candidates can select the varying subject(s) for improvement.
Failures Applicable to those candidates who could not pass in the Main examination and subsequent compartment chances. The candidate needs to give the previous main (May) examination details for applying and must select at least five subjects. Candidates placed in the compartment category in the previous main examination can also apply in this category. However, in that case, they have to appear in all selected subjects and will be treated as full subject failures.
Additional Subject Applicable to those candidates who passed the main examination held in May and want to study additional subjects (except those already passed). Candidate needs to give previous main examination details in which they passed for applying. Candidates can select any non-practical subjects, excluding those already passed.
Female/PwD Applicable to women or PwD candidates is a bonafide resident of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Candidates can select non-practical subjects.

Important Points to Note for CBSE 12th Board Examination 2021

Keeping in mind certain specific guidelines will help candidates appear for the board exams without facing any challenges. Here are some important points that candidates should note before appearing for the CBSE 12th board exams 2021:

  • Once allotted, the examination center is final, and no request for a change of examination center will be accepted. The board will allow the examination center based on the current residential address of the applicant.

  • Candidates will only be able to apply for subjects that are auto-generated by the system.

  • The board will allow a new roll number for candidates appearing for the examination in the current year. In no case will the candidates be allowed to appear with their past roll number.

  • Admit card: Eligible candidates can download their admit cards from the official CBSE website.

  • Dispatch of original mark sheet/certificate: The regional office will send the original mark sheet/certificate to the examination center where the candidate had appeared for the board examination. Candidates can collect the mark sheet/certificate from the examination center upon submitting the original admit card.

  • Issue of Marksheet/Certificate:

(a) The original mark-sheet and certificate of the previous year's examination should not be surrendered to CBSE.

(b) Marksheet for the 2021 examination will be issued to all the candidates who will appear for the examination in February/March/April 2021 immediately after the declaration of the result.

  • Candidates appearing for Improvement of Performance or Compartment subjects will be issued a separate marksheet reflecting only the marks obtained in the said examination.
