The WBBSE Madhyamik exam is conducted for 90 marks for the theory exam of each subject and 10 marks for the internal assessment. The WBBSE Board Madhyamik pass marks per subject are 34 marks. As per the prescribed West Bengal Madhyamik Exam Pattern 2026, there are 8 compulsory subjects, comprising three language papers along with Maths, Life Sciences, and so on. Students are assessed through written papers as well as oral assignments in the West Bengal Madhyamik Pariksha 2026. 

  • Students have to take an oral in Mathematics in the 2nd Unit test.
  • The West Bengal Board Madhyamik total marks are 90, including 20 marks in Mathematics objectives.
  • All second languages will have a 10-mark oral test for the Board exams.
  • The Boards will also assess the performance of students in the optional elective subjects; however, the marks for these subjects will not affect the overall score.

West Bengal Madhyamik Marking Scheme 2026 PPR/PPS

As per the WBBSE Madhyamik marking scheme 2026, the board will accept only the online application for the P.P.S./P.P.R of the H.S. examination. 

  • Students appearing for the board exam may apply for an online post-publication review within 15 days from the results publication date.
  • Applications for PPR/PPS are restricted to theoretical papers only.
  • Failed students may seek a review, provided they obtain at least a grade C in two compulsory subjects (Language or Elective)– for regular & continuing.

A student with overall consistency in the result reflected in securing the same grade O or A+ or A or B+ B or C or P in all subjects, including optional elective subjects, will not be eligible for review. Students must note the following instructions with utmost importance according to the West Bengal Madhyamik Marking Scheme.

  • The duly filled online applications for post-publication review, along with the fees, have to be submitted within fifteen days from the publication date of the result.
  • The council will reject any incomplete or incorrect applications for PPR/PPS and will not make any further inquiries in this regard.
  • Results of PPR/PPS have to be communicated to the institutions concerned by the council.
  • The student may also know the results from the council’s website.

West Bengal Madhyamik Grading System 2026

West Bengal Madhyamik grading system 2026 refers to a 7-scale grading system awarded to students based on their scores. AA is the highest grade awarded to students with 90 marks and above. D is the lowest grade that is awarded if a student does not pass a subject. Students must achieve at least a C grade to pass a subject.

The grades range from AA to D, with AA being the highest and D being the lowest grade. The grades are awarded to students in their scorecards based on their scores in theory and practical exams. Students with 90 marks and above are awarded an AA grade, while less than 25 marks are for a D grade.

The board exams will be held for 100 marks for each subject in the West Bengal Madhyamik Syllabus 2026, and to pass the West Bengal Madhyamik board exams, students have to secure a minimum of 34 per cent. However, the West Bengal Madhyamik passing marks also vary for theory and practical exams.

Madhyamik Pass Marks Out Of 700 West Bengal Board

Students appearing for the West Bengal Madhyamik exam must secure 272 marks out of a total of 800 marks. Students must secure the pass marks in Madhyamik, which is 34 percent overall in all subjects.

Students must ensure they score a minimum of marks in the theory and practical exams. The letter marks in Madhyamik for any subject are 80. To secure the passing status, students must have at least a 'C' grade in all the subjects. 

West Bengal Madhyamik Division Marks 2026

The WB board awards students with first, second, and third divisions based on the marks scored in the exam. Students who score between 272 and 360 will be awarded the third division. A student who can secure 75% marks and above will be awarded a star. 

The West Bengal Madhyamik number division system is as follows.

The WB board Madhyamik 1st division number is 480 and above. A student has to obtain a minimum of 60% overall to secure a first division.

West Bengal Madhyamik Second Division Marks

The WB board Madhyamik 2nd division number is 360 and above. A student has to score a minimum of second division marks in Madhyamik, which is 45% overall.

Important Points Regarding Madhyamik Marks Division 2026

The WB 10th board will include an oral test in Mathematics for the second unit test. As per the West Bengal Madhyamik marking scheme 2026, the Mathematics paper (written) comprises objective questions (carrying 20 marks) and subjective questions (carrying 90 marks).

  • An oral test in a second language carries 10 marks.
