The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the official CBSE 10th Time Table for 2026 on October 9, 2025. As per the official date sheet, the practical exams in the CBSE affiliated schools will be held from January 1, 2026, to February 14, 2026. Similarly, the CBSE practical exams in winter-bound schools will be held from November 6 to December 6, 2025. Students must note that passing the practical exams is a requirement for passing class 10. In order to pass the tenth grade, you must receive at least 33% on both the theory and practical exams. You must receive at least 33 percent in both the theory and practicals of the CBSE class 12 exam 2026 to pass the year.

The CBSE decided this year to conduct exams twice a year in order to reduce stress and align with NEP 2020. The phase 1 exams will now be held from February 17 to March 10, 2026, followed by the phase 2 exams from May 5 to May 20, 2026.

Unit

Experiment No.

Aim/Objective

Unit III – Light

1

You have to measure the focal length of a concave mirror and concave lens to obtain the image of far object

2

To measure the angles of incidence, refraction, and emergence as well as to observe lateral displacement and interpret the results, trace the path of light through a rectangular glass slab.

3

Draw incident, refracted, and emergent rays, trace the rays' path through a glass prism, and watch for refraction through the prism.

Unit IV – Electricity

4

Examine a resistor's V-I relationship to calculate resistance, measure potential difference and current, and create a V-I graph.

5

Calculate the equivalent resistance of two resistors connected in parallel and series. Then, measure the total resistance in each connection type and compare the findings.

Tips to Prepare for CBSE Class 10 Practical Exams 2026

Given below are some of the pointers to prepare for CBSE Class 10 Practical Exams 2026:

  • Review all of your experiments’ aims, methods, and expected outcomes to help you perform well and with confidence on exam day.
  • Practice drawing accurate and properly labelled diagrams for optics, circuits, the setup of Chemicals and biological experiments.
  • Keep your practical experiment records neat and organized so they will be ready for signing by your teacher long before the examinations.
  • Be able to explain the science behind every experiment, not just recite the different experiment steps, because viva exam questions often involve testing someone's understanding of where they learned knowledge as opposed to just proving that they could memorize a list of items.
  • Train yourself on using some of the different types of laboratory equipment that you will be expected to work with, including lenses, mirrors, resistors, test tubes, litmus paper, and indicators.
  • Do your math calculations again, such as those for focal length, resistance, PH reading or displacement, because if you make a calculation error on exam day, you could lose points for it.
  • During chemistry lab experiments, pay close attention to your observation of the color changes that you see take place and be sure to answer the viva questions based on that observation.
