The Manipur HSE grading system works on a 9-point scale. When a student scores in the marks range of 91 to 100, he/she will be allotted an A1 grade (highest grade).   • The Council of Higher Education, Manipur follows a CCE pattern. In such a pattern, there are 2 term exams and 4 periodic tests (annually)
  • The final assessment contributes to 80 percent of the marks. The internal evaluation contributes to 20 percent of the remaining marks. 
  • In most of the subjects, students will have to appear for the practical assessment. Hence, the focus should be on clearing both, the theory paper and the practical/internal assessment test. 
  • For 100/70 marks theory paper, the duration will be 3 hours, for 50 marks theory paper it will be 2 hours 30 minutes, and for 40/30 marks theory paper, it will be 2 hours. For practical exams, 3 hours will be given to the candidate. 
  • The question paper will consist of long answer questions, short answer questions, and multiple choice questions. There is no provision for negative marking for an incorrect answer.
  • To pass a subject, a minimum of 33% is required. 
  • The overall aggregate required to pass is 165 marks out of 500 (this is for 5 compulsory subjects). Hence, the aggregate pass percentage is also 33%. 
  • When a student clears the Manipur HSE exam, the mark sheet and pass certificate can be collected from the school itself. 

Calculating CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) as per the Manipur HSE Grading System

To calculate the CGPA, add the grade points obtained in 5 compulsory subjects. Then divide the total figure by 5. Let’s say, a student has grade points of 9, 7, 8, 9, and 8 in five main subjects. Hence the CGPA would be (9+7+8+9+8)/5 = 8.2. In this way, students can easily calculate their CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average).
