The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) has designed the MBOSE class 12th grading system comprises grades from A1 to F, where the A1 grade is considered the top grade, while F is the lowest grade. Students who receive a grade of F are considered to have failed in that subject.

While students who fail to obtain the required passing marks in a subject or two can appear for the MBOSE HSSLC supplementary exam, students who fail in more than 2 subjects will have to repeat the class. The grade D is the minimum passing grade, which translates to marks between 34 and 40. The grades, grade points, and marks are mentioned in the students' mark sheets. Students will also receive grades in internal assessments and practical exams.

MBOSE HSSLC passing marks for practical exams are 10 for subjects in which practical or internal assessments are conducted of 30 marks. The following are some exam-related details under the MBOSE HSSLC Grading System.

Each exam will be conducted for a total of 3 hours and of total 100 marks.
The exam paper will consist of definitions, fill-in-the-blanks, multiple-choice questions, and diagram-based questions.
The exam of language papers will also be of 3 hours and 100 marks.
The vocational stream has four papers in total, out of which two papers are of 45 marks. The question paper does not contain any multiple-choice or objective-based questions.
