Introduction to VITEEE 2019

  • About: The full form of VITEEE is Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam, is an entrance exam for admission in various campuses of VIT. VITEEE 2019 is conducted by one of the popular engineering institutes, Vellore Institute of Technology. VIT University, formerly known as Vellore Engineering College, is a private deemed university located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. VIT offers 34 postgraduate, 20 undergraduate, four research and four integrated programs.

  • Level: VITEEE 2019 is a university level examination conducted in 116 cities across India.

  • Frequency: VITEEE is conducted once every year in the month of April and May.

  • Courses: Candidates can get admissions in the B.Tech programs offered by VIT, if they qualify the entrance exam that includes Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. 

  • Schedule: VITEEE 2019 exam date is 10th April 2019, candidates can book slot and download the admit card from 5th April 2019.

VITEEE 2019 Answer Key:

  • VITEEE 2019 Answer key will be released once after the results have been declared.

  • Answer key and cutoff of VITEEE 2019 gives candidates an estimate of their results and also helps them to calculate their probability of getting made to the merit list and to admission.

  • Only on basis of VITEEE 2019 Result, eligible candidates will get a chance for admission to VITEEE participating institutes, which are based in Vellore, Chennai, Amravati and Bhopal.


VITEEE 2019 Slot Booking Guide:

  • OTBS: Candidates, whose applications are accepted by the institution can book their slots online for VITEEE 2019 exam through Online Test Booking System (OTBS).

  • Slot dates: Slot booking for VITEEE 2019 starts from 1st November 2018. To get access to slot booking system, VITEEE candidates need to enter their application number and password given by VIT University. 

  • Slot selection: Candidates can select VITEEE 2019 Exam Centre, Date and Timings according to their preference. It is recommended to choose your slots carefully as slots once submitted cannot be changed again. If slots are not selected by students, then the conducting authority will allocate slot as per the application details.

  • Download: After successful completion of slot booking, candidates can download their VITEEE 2019 Admit Card. Admit Card will be released 10 days prior to the VITEE 2019 examination. Admit card should be checked by candidates for any mistakes. Admit card/ Hall ticket has to be printed out in an A4 size sheet.

VITEEE 2019 Important Dates

  • Application Form Date Extended: Last date to submit VITEEE 2019 Application form is 28th February 2019.
  • Admit Card: Candidates can book slots and download admit card on 5th April 2019 from the official website. After downloading applicants has to check the details in the admit card.

  • Exam Date: VITEEE 2019 will be conducted on 10th April 2019. The number of days the exam will extend will depend on number of applicants and number of exam centres available among other reasons.

VITEEE 2019 Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum marks for General: Candidates should have an aggregate score of 60% in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics/Biology in their 12th. Candidates from NIOS are also eligible to appear in VITEE 2019. The PCBE/PCME Combined marks should be above 50%.

  • Minimum marks for SC/ST: Candidates from SC/ST caste or North East India should have an aggregate score of 50%.

  • Age Limit: Candidates born on or after 1st July 1997 are eligible for VITEEE 2019. Candidates must have completed 17 years of age as on 1st July of the Admission year(2019).

VITEEE 2019 Syllabus

  • Difficulty Level: Questions asked in VITEEE 2019 are from X and XII syllabus. VITEEE 2019 will focus on testing the candidates understanding and analytical approach in the subjects of X to XII.
  • Subjects: Subjects for VITEEE 2019 are Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology, and English.

VITEEE 2019 Exam Pattern

  • Mode: VITEEE 2019 is purely computer-based and comprises multiple-choice questions.

  • Duration: Duration of VITEEE 2019 is 2 hours 30 minutes.

  • Sections: Paper consists of 40 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics. The English section has only 5 questions.

VITEEE 2019 Application Form Details

  • Application Availability: Application forms will be issued from 1st November 2018. Eligible candidates should submit an online or offline application form, which is available on official VIT University website. Deadline for submitting application form is 28th February 2019. 

  • Application Fee: Application Fee of INR1150 can be paid online or INR 1200 can be paid in cash at the post offices listed on the official website.

VITEEE 2019 Exam Centres

  • Exam Cities: Over 116 Cities across India will act as an Exam Centre host for VITEEE 2019. It has been reduced from 119 to 113 this year.

  • Overseas: VITEEE 2018 were held in 4 overseas countries namely Muscat, Qatar, Dubai and Kuwait. This year, VITEEE will not be held in any international cities because of operational costs.

VITEEE 2019 Admit Card

  • Availability: Admit card for the exam will be available to download immediately after the slot booking confirmation from 5th April 2019.

  • ID Proof: Candidates should carry a photo ID proof along with the VITEEE 2019 Admit card at the examination centre.

VITEEE 2019 Results

  • Result Date: Candidates can check VITEEE Results by entering their application number and password on official website. VITEEE 2019 results will be declared on 29th April 2019.

  • Notification: Candidates will get notified through SMS about their VITEEE 2019 Result.

VITEEE 2019 Counselling

  • Scores: Cut-off score is decided on the basis of the marks scored by candidates in VITEEE 2019.

  • Counselling: Candidates will be called for counselling from #counselling date depending on their ranks. Counselling will be done in 3 slots per day. A total of 8,000 students will be called for counselling per day.

VITEEE 2017 Statistics

  • Inference: In the above graph, you can see that the students registered for VITEEE Exam are gradually increasing from the year 2013 to 2017. Students who have registered for VITEEE in the year 2017 is 2, 23,156. However, the number of students who actually appeared for VITEEE 2017 examination was 2,02,000.

VITEEE 2017 Registration Trend according to the State


  • The highest number of students: In the graph above, Uttar Pradesh has got the highest number of students registering for VITEEE in 2017, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 27,427 candidates.

  • State wise Registrations: Bihar came next with 18,463 registrations, while Maharashtra accounted for 15,584 registrations. But Tamil Nadu, where the main campus of VIT is located, got only 13,867 students.

  • City wise Registrations: If we see it as a city wise, most numbers of registrations have come from Hyderabad and New Delhi. Chennai had 6,530 registrations, whereas, Vellore got only 2,361 registrations. There were over 500 NRI candidates registered for VITEEE exam. VITEEE 2017 was held in 145 centres in 118 Indian cities.

Guidelines for VITEEE 2019

  • Reporting Time: Candidates should be present in the assigned exam centre at least 30 minutes prior to exam time, with the e-admit card.

  • Admit Card: The E-Admit card is an important document and it must be preserved and produced at the time of exam hall/ counselling/admission.

  • Duration: The duration of the examination will be 2 hours 30 minutes.

  • ID Proof: Candidate should report to the selected test centre with an e-admit card and valid ID proof for the verification.

  • Registration: Candidates have to register their name in the registration counter and must carry the e-admit card and a valid ID proof for the verification.

  • Seating: The candidate has to sit only in the allotted seats in the examination hall.

  • Signature: Candidate must sign the attendance sheet and e-admit card in the presence of the invigilator.

  • Latecomers are not allowed: Candidate will not be permitted to enter the exam hall after the commencement of the examination and will not be allowed to leave the exam hall before the end of the examination.

  • Prohibited Items: Electronic Devices like calculators, tables, side ruler, pager and cellular phones are strictly not allowed in the exam hall.

  • Tampering is not allowed: The candidates should not tamper with the computer and the related hardware provided in the examination hall. Candidates found to have tampered with these willfully will have their candidature cancelled immediately. In addition, appropriate legal action will be initiated against such candidates

  • The eligibility criteria for the admission process is -
  • 1) The student must be clear in all the subjects in 12th standard
  • 2) The student must score minimum 50% in in 12th standard Appearing in IIT-JEE is the most obvious but important exam. I gave the following exams - IIT-JEE (mains) , VITEEE (for VIT University), SRMEEE (for SRM University), BITSAT (for bits Pilani),Where I successfully scored 83 in IIT-JEE (cut-off 100) rank 28,254 and rank 12,486 in VITEEE and SRMEEE respectively and a score of 124 in BITSAT.
  • For the admission in medicaps university the score of IIT-JEE plays an important role as the cutoff for the branches is been fixed on the basis of IIT-JEE cut-off and number of applicants for that branch Example - the cutoff of the branches in 2016 was Conputer Science - 85 IT - 80 Electronic and Comunication- 65 Electronics and Electrical - 60 Automobile - 45 Mechanical - 50 Civil - 35 For the 1st counseling where as the cutoff may increase or decrease for the branches in 2nd or 3rd counselling depending on the number of applicants for that branch.

  • Candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology taken together in 10+2 or equivalent exam

  • Candidates belonging to SC/ ST categories and North-East should have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology.

Yes, there is a chance that both JEE Main and VITEEE may fall on the same date.

If it happens so, the candidates are advised to get in touch with the Board of VITEEE as soon as possible to get a clear view on what to do next.
