The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national level Board of education in India that conducts examinations for the public as well as private schools in the country. The Union Government of India controls CBSE. All schools affiliated with the CBSE Board are required to follow the NCERT curriculum.

Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, private schools, and many of the schools approved by India's central government come under CBSE. Every year, the Central Board of Secondary Education conducts Board examinations for Class 10th and 12th students in March and declares the results for both the classes in May.

Earlier, the Board used to conduct other exams such as AIEEE for admission into undergraduate courses in engineering and architecture institutions. In the year 2013, the AIEEE got merged with the IIT-JEE exam, and the common exam is now called JEE (Main) conducted by National Testing Agency. CBSE also conducts other exams like the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) for admission into major medical institutions in India.

The Board's prime focus is on creating innovative techniques in teaching-learning methodologies by devising student-friendly and student-centred paradigms, reforms in examination and evaluation practices, and skill learning by adding job-oriented and job-linked inputs. Regularly updating the teachers' and administrators' skills by conducting various training programs and regular workshops on various topics are also the main functions of CBSE.
