According to the new CBSE grading system 2024, students must receive 33% passing marks in all subjects to progress to the next class. The CBSE grading system for classes 10 and 12 will assign grades to students rather than showing their pass or fail status.
A student appearing in the CBSE class 12 exam 2024, scheduled from 15th February to 2nd April 2024, will receive their cumulative grading point based on the total percentage earned for all subjects. The CBSE class 10 exam 2024 will also follow a similar grading process as well and the exam is ready to take place between 15th February to 30th March 2024.

Regular CBSE Grading System 2024 for Class 10th and 12th
The board will declare the CBSE Class 12 Result in the Second week of May 2024 (tentative) and the CBSE Class 10 Result will be available on a similar timeline tentatively. The grades present in the results for both classes will follow the recent guidelines of the CBSE 2024 grading system.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has implemented a new grading system. Candidates must have sound knowledge of the grading system to be able to calculate their marks. Check the table below for an overall understanding of the grading system for classes 10th and 12th.

CBSE Grading System 2024 for Arts, Health, and Physical Education
The CBSE introduced a 5-point grading scale (A to E) for class 9th and class 10th, with no specified indicators, to assess the activities related to the arts, health, and physical education. The evaluation of the students would take place in the areas of Art Education, Health, and Physical Education. In physical and health education, work experience is also taken into account. There won't be any grade scaling in these subjects.

Points to Be Noted Regarding the CBSE Grading System 2024
Below are some points that need to be kept in mind before referring to the CBSE grading system provided above:
- Minor variations in the proportion of candidates will be made to adjust ties.
- In case of a tie, all the students getting the same score will get the same grade.
- If the number of students at a score point needs to be divided into two segments, the smaller segment will go with the larger one.
- If the number of candidates who have passed exceeds 500, the board will use grading methods for the subject.
- Regarding subjects where the total number of candidates passing is less than 500, the grading would be adopted from other similar subjects.

CBSE Passing Criteria
The CBSE grading system is based on a five-point scale, from grades A to E, ensuring that the raw scores are no longer shown. CBSE used the Continuous Comprehensive Assessment (CCA) for classes 9th and 10th, a ten-point assessment scale. The CBSE passing criteria is as follows:
- CBSE has dropped the "pass" and "fail" terms from the 10th and 12th mark sheets.
- In the external examinations, the grades will be determined from the scores.
- For internal assessments, the grades will be awarded by the school.
- The passing mark for each external assessment is 33%.
- To qualify for a subject requiring practical work, students must score 33 percent in theory and 33% in practical separately.

Calculate CBSE Class 12th Percentage
CBSE awards numerical scores for both theory and practical papers by the grading system. Candidates can calculate the total sum and divide by 5 to calculate the CBSE class 12 percentage.
- Students can use the formula - Subject-wise percentage = Grade point (GP) obtained by the student x 9.5 to calculate the percentage.
