The Indian Institute of Management Shillong offers courses in management at the postgraduate and doctorate level. The courses offered include PGP, PGP for Executives (PGP Ex), MBA for Working Executives (MBAWE), PhD (regular), and PhD for Working Professionals. Admission to these courses is based on exams like GMAT/GRE/CAT/GATE. Overseas candidates, those are not able to appear in CAT due to their place of residence have the option to apply for admission to PGP based on GMAT scores.

The new urban campus of IIM Shillong has an area of 120 acres and was declared an "institute of national importance" after passing the "Indian Institutes of Management Act of 2017". The infrastructural facilities at IIM Shillong include classrooms, IT Infrastructure, health and sports, among many other things. 

IIM Shillong also offers quality placements to students. In 2023, the highest package offered to PGP students was INR 71.50 LPA, and the average package offered was INR 26.10 LPA.  IIM Shillong students have to undergo an on-the-job training programme, irrespective of whether participants have past working experiences or not. The internship in the participating corporates/organizations is scheduled at the end of the first three terms in the first year and is approximately eight weeks in duration.

• The candidates must register for the CAT or GMAT 2025 exam.
• Apply for the desired course on IIM Shillong's official website.
• Appear in the CAT 2025 exam and score well.
• The institute publishes the list of shortlisted candidates to appear in the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) based on academic and CAT scores.
• Final seat allotment is done based on the candidate's performance in the WAT and PI.

IIM Shillong offers admission to management courses like PGP, PGPEx, PhD, PhD (WP), and PGP (WE) based on the CAT, GMAT, GATE, GRE, and JRF scores.

Ph.D Admission Process

The admission process for PhD 2025 will involve the following process:

• Fill in the application form by the candidate. This includes a tentative research proposal, wherein the candidate will have to present the tentative research problem proposed to be researched.
• Shortlisting of candidates for the Personal Interview/Interaction based on the profile and tentative research proposal. The applicants will be informed about this process, once they are shortlisted for the process.
• Each applicant is expected to select three venues for this, in the order of their preference. The Institute will inform the applicants about the final venue and schedule of this process.
• Personal Interview/Interaction with the candidate.
• Offer of admission extended to selected candidates.
