ISC class 12 Physics syllabus 2024 For Practical Paper
The practical paper under the ISC class 12 Physics exam 2024 will contain 15 marks. The practical paper consists of observations and experiments. The following are important points regarding the ISC 12th Physics syllabus 2024 for the practical paper.
- The laboratory and practical work is divided into two groups.
- The first group consists of experiments based on ray optics and the second group consists of experiments based on current electricity.
- Observations are required to be recorded in a tabular form.
- Students are required to draw graphs correctly and include them as per relevance.
- Calculations are required to be rounded up to proper decimal places or significant figures.
- Short answer type questions in exams can be included from experiments to test understanding of the subject matter.
Experiments Under ISC class 12 Physics Practical Paper 2024
The practical paper under the Physics syllabus class 12 ISC 2024 consists of a list of experiments that students need to cover before appearing for the exam. The syllabus also includes a list of demonstration experiments that teachers should cover.
The following provides the list of experiments and demonstration experiments as instructed by the ISC Physics syllabus 2024.
Experiments
- To find the focal length of a convex lens by using the UV method (no parallax method)
- To find the f of a convex lens by displacement method
- To determine the focal length of a given convex lens with the help of an auxiliary convex lens
- To determine the focal length of a concave mirror by using two pins (by u-v method)
- To determine the refractive index of a liquid by using a convex lens and a plane mirror
- To determine the focal length of a convex mirror using a convex lens
- Using a meter bridge, determine the resistance of about 100 cm of (constantan) wire
- Verify Ohm’s law for the given unknown resistance
- Plotting a graph of potential difference versus current
- Calculate the resistance per cm of the wire from the slope of the graph and the length of the wire
- To determine the internal resistance of a cell by a potentiometer
- From a potentiometer set up, measure the fall in potential (i.e. pd) for increasing lengths of a constantan wire
Demonstration Experiments
- To convert a given galvanometer into (a) an ammeter of range, say 2A, and (b) a voltmeter of range 4V
- To study I-V characteristics of a semiconductor diode in forward and reverse bias
- To determine the refractive index of a glass slab using a traveling microscope
- Identification of diode, LED, transistor, IC, resistor, and capacitor from a mixed collection of such items
- Use of a multimeter to (i) identify the base of the transistor
ISC class 12 Physics syllabus 2024: Project Work & Practical File
The project work under the ISC class 12 Physics exam 2024 will contain 10 marks and the practical file will contain 5 marks. The Project work and practical file will be assessed by a council-approved examiner. The following are important points regarding the project work as per the ISC Physics class 12 syllabus 2024.
- Candidates must complete one project under the direction and supervision of the class teacher.
- Candidates can undertake any project from the following types:
- Theoretical project
- Working Model
- Investigative project
- Candidates are required to prepare a technical report.
- Technical reports should be curated with the following instructions set by the board.
- Title, abstract, some theoretical discussion, experimental setup, observations with tables of data collected,
- Graph/chart, analysis and discussion of results, deductions, conclusion, etc.
