Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam Pattern 2024 (Released): Check Subject-Wise Exam Pattern

The Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka, has released the Karnataka 2nd PUC exam pattern 2024 for various subjects. The subject-wise exam pattern will help the students to understand the paper pattern and the difficulty level of the paper.  

Furthermore, the Karnataka 2nd PUC exam will be conducted for 100 marks. For some papers, 80 marks will be for theory and 20 marks for internals. Students can also access and check the subject-wise blueprint of the exam on the official website.

Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam Pattern 2024: Marks Distribution

Students must score at least 24 marks as passing marks in the 2nd PUC board examination. As per the recent notification, the board has considered the 20 marks as internal marks to evaluate the students.

A total of 100 marks is set for the English exam under Karnataka 2nd PUC which is allocated into different categories such as Reading Skills (Textual & Non-textual), Grammar, and Writing Skills. The exam pattern of English is given below.

Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam Pattern 2024 for Physics

From the Karnataka 2nd PUC Physics blueprint, it can be seen that about 35% of the total marks are allotted to knowledge, 29% to understanding, 20% to application, and 16% to HOTS. The Physics paper will be conducted for 100 marks out of which 70 marks are for theory and 30 marks are for internal assessment.

As per the Karnataka 2nd PUC exam pattern 2024, the Mathematics question Paper would be of 5 parts A, B, C, D, and E. All these sections are compulsory and the students should attempt questions from all parts.

• Part A: 20 compulsory questions each carrying 1 mark, 5 Fill in the blanks, and 5 Very Short Answer questions of 1 mark each.
• Part B: 6 questions to be answered out of 11 questions each carrying 2 marks
• Part C: 6 questions to be answered out of 11 questions each carrying 3 marks
• Part D: 4 questions to be answered out of 8 questions each carrying 5 marks
• Part E: 2 questions to be answered with a choice, (a) and (b) of 6 marks and 4 marks respectively.

Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam Pattern 2024: Changes Introduced

The Karnataka government has updated the 2nd PUC exam pattern for the academic year 2023-24. As per the official notification, 20 marks will be considered internal marks for the subjects not having the practical exams. The respective teachers must record this.

• Based on the first and second unit tests and mid-term exams, 10 points will be given for internal evaluation.
• The school authorities will review the best of two marks from these examinations, which will be averaged to 10 points. 
• The remaining marks will be based on the project and assignments. The marks distribution is given below. 
• five marks for projects and writing
• three marks for presentation 
• Two marks for viva voce.
• The 20 internal marks are applicable for subjects like Maths, business studies, economics, languages, and other core subjects. 
• In comparison, subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, electronics, computer science, home science, and others will follow the (70+30) marking scheme. 
• This marking scheme applies to the regular students appearing for the Karnataka 2nd PUC exam 2024. 
• Repeaters and those students registered as private candidates will have to answer a 100-mark question paper.

Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam Pattern 2024: Passing Marks Criteria & Grading Scheme

Candidates have to pass all the subjects to qualify. According to the updated Karnataka 2nd PUC exam pattern, the 2nd PUC total marks are based on the factors like:

• Students must obtain at least 35 marks (out of 100) to be considered "Passed" in a subject.
• There are no overall passing marks; students are only required to score the minimum marks (35) in each subject individually.

The board has also set a grading process on a scale of 1 to 10 which depends on the candidate's performance. The grading process is illustrated in the table below.
