SECTION A: READING SKILLS

This section will have two unseen passages of a total length of 700-750 words. The arrangement within the reading section is as follows:

  • A factual passage of 300-350 words with eight Objective Type Questions (including Multiple Choice Questions). (8 Marks)
  • A Discursive passage of 350-400 words with four Short Answer Type Questions to test inference, evaluation, and analysis, and four Objective Type Questions ( including Multiple Choice Questions) to test vocabulary. (12 Marks)

SECTION B: WRITING AND GRAMMAR

Formal letter to the editor in about 100-150 words. The questions will be thematically based on the prescribed books. (8 Marks)
Writing a short story based on a given outline or cue/s in about 150-200 words. (10 Marks)

The Grammar syllabus will include the following areas in class X.

  • Tenses
  • Modals
  • Subject-verb concord
  • Reporting : (i) Commands and requests (ii) Statements (iii) Questions
  • Determiners
  • Prepositions

The above items may be tested through the test types given below:

  • Gap filling with one or two words to test Prepositions, Articles, Conjunctions, and Tense
  • Editing or omission. (4 Marks)
  • Sentences- Reordering or Sentence Transformation in Context. (4 Marks)

SECTION C

LITERATURE: TEXTBOOKS AND SUPPLEMENTARY READING TEXT:30

  • One out of two extracts from prose/poetry/drama for reference to context. Four Objective Type Questions (including MCQs): Two questions of one mark each on global comprehension and two questions of 1 mark each on interpretation. (4 Marks)
  • Five Short Answer type Questions to be answered in 30-40 words each from First Flight and Footprints Without Feet to test local and global comprehension of theme and ideas (three from First Flight and two from Footprints with Feet) (2x5 = 10 Marks)
  • One out of two Long Answer-type Questions from First Flight is to be answered in about 100-150 words to assess creativity, imagination, and extrapolation beyond the text and across the texts.  (8 Marks)
  • One out of two long answer questions from the book ‘Footprints without Feet’ on theme or plot involving interpretation, extrapolation beyond the text, and inference or character sketch to be answered in about 100-150 words. (8 Marks)

Political Science (4 marks)

  • Project Work -3 Marks (word limitation -200 words) and Viva-voce on project work -1 mark.

  • Experience after visiting a Gram Panchayat
  • Experience after visiting a Nagar Panchayat
  • Conditions for good democracy
  • Duties of an M.L.A.
  • Any of the following tourist spots in Tripura – i) Rudrasagar, ii) Sipahijala, iii) Matabari, and iv) Unakoti.

Geography (6 marks)

  • Project Work -4 marks (word limitation -250 words) and Viva-voce on project work -2 marks.

Any topic to be selected from the following:

  • Rubber plantation in Tripura

Economics (4 marks)

  • Project Work -3 marks (word limit -200 words) and Viva-voce on project work - 1 mark.

  • Educational & Health Development – Its necessities.
  • Producing Sectors of an economy – Primary, Secondary & Tertiary Sectors.
  • World Trade Organisation ( W.T.O).
  • The exploitation of consumers–a Case study.

N.B: Any kind of Exercise Books may be used for Project Works in all Subjects. Exercise Books must be written by the candidates through their handwriting. Computerized, downloaded, typed, photocopies, etc. are not permitted. In the case of diagrams/sketches, downloaded pictures, photocopies, and paper cuttings may be accepted.

Word limitations:

  • Questions for 1 (one) mark: within 1 complete sentence
  • Questions for 3 (three) marks: within 50 words
  • Questions for 5 (five) marks:  within 100 words.
