JoSAA counselling 2024 registration and choice filling process will commence after the JEE Advanced 2024 result declaration. The qualified candidates must register and fill in their choices before the last date to participate in the seat allotment process. JoSAA 2024 seat allotment list will be released round-wise on the official website at josaa.nic.in. Shortlisted candidates must confirm their seats and report to the allotted institutes.

JoSAA 2024 seat matrix and a list of participating institutes will be released on the official website. JoSAA counselling 2024 is used to admit qualified candidates to NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and IITs. JoSAA is a government body that conducts the counselling process for JEE Main 2024 and JEE Advanced 2024.

The authorities will also publish the round-wise JoSAA 2024 cutoff on the official website. CSAB, on the other hand, offers additional super-round JoSAA counselling 2024 when NIT+System has open seats. JoSAA 2024 Counselling Highlights

JoSAA 2024 counselling registration and choice filling process will commence from the third week of Jun 2024. The Joint Seat Allocation process for admission to 114 institutions in India is known as JoSAA or The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling.

JoSAA 2024 counselling is provided by JoSAA, a body the Ministry of Education established to oversee and control the counselling procedure. A single platform is used for admission to every academic programme these Participating Institutes offer.

  • JoSAA will hold six rounds of counselling for admission to the best IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. However, if there are open seats in NIT+System, further super-round counselling is undertaken through CSAB.
  • While JEE Advanced 2024 scores will be utilised for seat allocation at IITs, JEE Main 2024 scores will be used for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Investigate JEE Advanced Counselling 2024.
  • JoSAA is slated to handle the counselling for 114 academic institutions in India for the academic year. These include 33 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs), 26 IIITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, and 23 IITs. 
  • The counselling authority, JoSAA, comprises officials from JAB and CSAB and is in charge of the JoSAA 2024 counselling process.

JoSAA 2024 Counselling Process

Students who pass the JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2024 exams will be eligible for JoSAA counselling. For participation in the counselling, students must register and fill out options in an online format. JoSAA counselling process is mentioned below.

Step 1: JoSAA Counselling 2024 Registration

  • Candidates have to visit the website for JoSAA 2024 counselling registration.
  • Candidates can complete the form by providing JEE Main registration number and password.
  • Modification of details and passwords can take place at this level.

Step 2: Online Choice Filling and Locking

  • Program Selection: After successfully registering for JoSAA 2024 counselling, candidates must select the institute type, name, and academic program.
  • After filling in the above information, click the "Choice filling and locking" option.
  • Now select the college and the course by filling in as many preferences as possible.
  • Then click on the "Save" button.
  • Candidates are given ten days to fill out and lock their choices.

Step 3: Allotment of Mock Seats

JoSAA Mock seat allocation is based on the options candidates enter in the form. It is not the final allocation, but they will learn whether candidates can acquire anything with the current choices. Following the announcement of the final allotment, another option filling chance is provided.

  • Candidates can understand and change their submitted choices based on the JoSAA mock seat allocation 2024.

  • Candidates should be aware that they cannot change their selections after being locked, and the last date for choice filling and locking has passed.

Step 4: The Result of the Seat Allocation will be Announced

  • The JoSAA 2024 seat allotment result will be announced on the official website by the JoSAA 2024 counselling authority.
  • To monitor the seat assignment status of JoSAA counselling 2024, students must log in using their application number and password.
  • Accepting the given seat without agreeing to participate in the next round, accepting with the intent to participate in the next round, or rejecting the allotted seat without agreeing to participate in the following round counselling is available to students.

Step 5: Fee Payment and Seat Acceptance

  • Students assigned a seat must obtain a copy of their seat assignment letter.
  • Students must check in with their application number and password to download their seat allotment letter.
  • Students must pay INR 35,000 as seat acceptance fees after downloading the JoSAA 2024 allotment letter (Rs15,000 for reserved category).

Step 6: Reporting to the Allotted College

  • Lastly, candidates must report to the college allotted to them on the assigned date and time slot.
  • They must carry original certificates and documents for completing the admission procedure.

Step 7: Admission Confirmation

  • Finally, students must report to the designated institute for admission confirmation.
  • The seat allotment letter will state the deadline for reporting to the assigned institute.
  • Students must report to the designated institute within the given deadlines; otherwise, their admission will be withdrawn.

JoSAA Counselling 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The following criteria requirements must be met for applicants to JoSAA counselling 2024 admission:

  • JEE Advanced 2024 eligibility for IIT academic programs [excluding preparatory courses. They must meet the requirements below to attend counselling for the B.E. or B.Tech. Program:
  • A ranking in JEE Main 2024 Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech. programs at NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs: Completing the Class 12 (or equivalent) test with Physics and Mathematics as required courses with one of the Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or Technical Vocational topics.

OR

Candidates must meet the requirements listed below to apply for counselling for the architecture program:

  • To be eligible for programs at NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and other GFTIs, candidates must earn a rank in JEE Main Paper 2 for B. Arch with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. 
  • Candidates must achieve a rank in JEE Main Paper 2 for B. Arch with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics to be eligible for programs at NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and other GFTIs. 

JoSAA Rank List 2024

The conducting authority will announce JoSAA 2024 rank list. The list will be prepared based on the candidate's valid scores in the JEE Main 2024 examination or JEE Advanced. Only those candidates who feature in the JoSAA rank list will be eligible to participate in the counselling process.

JoSAA Counselling 2024 Documents Required

The following set of original documents, as well as a set of self-attested photocopies, must be brought by candidates to the reporting centre. The following order must be used to arrange the papers. The Reporting Centre will keep copies of the papers after they have been verified and return the originals. The JoSAA portal (Business Rules) has the format of the necessary documents available.

Documents Required for NITs/ IIITs/ GFTIs

The following are the documents required for NITs/IIITs/GFTIs.

  • Three passport-size photos are exact replicas of those uploaded for the Class XII performance check during JEE Main 2024 Registration (Check Format).
  • Letter of temporary seat allocation
  • Candidate commitment (Verify Format)
  • Proof of seat acceptance fee payment made via State Bank of India's (SBI) online net banking, SBI's exclusive debit cards, and SBI's E-Challan [Rs. 15,000 for SC/ST/PwD; Rs. 35,000 for everyone else]
  • Photo ID card (issued by a government agency; last school attended; Class XII admission card)
  • admit card for the 2024 JEE (Main)
  • JEE (Main) scorecard for 2024
  • Proof of birthdate (Class X grade report)
  • Board results for class XII (or a comparable grade). A qualifying examination certificate calculates the pass certificate's "State code of eligibility," if one is available.
  • Passports are required for Indian nationals who passed the qualifying exam in Nepal, Bhutan, or another country. The state code will be based on the permanent address listed in the passport.
  • Candidates who received their SSC through the National Open School must bring documentation of the location of the final exam centre to ascertain the state code.
  • a medical certificate in the format described in JoSAA Business Rules Annexure 8
  • If applicable, a category certificate (OBC-NCL/SC/ST) (Check Format)
  • PWD Certificate, if necessary 
  • OCI documentation or a PIO card, where appropriate

JoSAA Counselling Final Seat Allotment and Rank List Announcement 2024

After two rounds of mock seat allotment, the final seat allotment of JoSAA 2024 will be held in 6 rounds. After mock allotment, candidates will be given ample time to change their preferences if they wish to. JoSAA seat allotment is done based on the JEE Main/JEE Advanced 2024 rank; the choices entered for the course and college, and the number of vacant seats in the institutes.

  • After submitting the choices, the results and the dates to pay the JoSAA counselling fees will be announced.
  • The candidates should download the provisional allotment letter on the official website, and the acceptance fee should be paid within the specified date.
  • Post which candidates must visit the Reporting Center (RC) for the document verification per the JoSAA counselling schedule 2024.

JoSAA Counselling: Withdraw Option

Candidates can check for JoSAA 2024 seat allotment results on the official website. The candidates will then have the option to:

  • Freeze: Can be used when the candidate is satisfied with an allotment and would like to be admitted to the allocated institute or college.
  • Float: Can be used when the candidate wants to continue with the allotted seat but would also participate in the next round of JoSAA counselling 2024 to get a better seat.
  • Slide: It is similar to float except for the candidate who wishes to explore better choices in the same institute.
  • Withdraw: Can be used when the candidate is dissatisfied with seat allotment and wants to leave the JoSAA counselling process 2024.

JoSAA Counselling Seat Allotment for IIT's 2024

To understand JoSAA counselling or register for JoSAA counselling, look at the rules followed by the IITs for the seat allotment of candidates belonging to specific categories mentioned below.

For Defence Service [DS] Candidates

1. Dereservation of Unfilled Category Seats 

Two seats will be allotted to the defense service candidates. Such candidates will be included in their birth category and the DS category. The candidate must be in Common Rank List (CRL).

2. Foreign Candidates

Foreign candidates will be considered under the general category. They must fulfill all the eligibility criteria of the General category, and they must be in the Common Rank List (CRL). Seats allocated to foreign candidates will have the provision of being supernumerary. Redundant seats will be 10% of the total number of seats available. Foreign candidates will not be considered for admission into NITs, IIITs, IIEST, and other GFTIs through JoSAA counselling 2024.

3. Preparatory Courses

  • If no other candidates in the CRL-PwD rank list have chosen it, spaces in the OPEN-PwD program will be given to applicants in the preparatory rank list.
  • If no further applicants in the OBC-NCL-PwD rank list choose it, the open OBC-NCL-PwD seats will be given to those in the preparatory OBC-NCL-PwD rank list.
  • If no more candidates in the SC-PwD rank list have chosen it, the open seats in the SC-PwD will be given to applicants in the preparatory rank list.
  • The ST-PwD preparation rank list will be used to allocate any open ST-PwD seats.
  • The SC preparatory rank list applicants will be given the remaining open SC seats.
  •  If no more applicants from the ST rank list have chosen it, the remaining open ST seats will be given to those in the ST preparatory rank list.
  • In every round of seat distribution, any remaining OBC category seats will be de-reserved and treated as OPEN seats.
  • The reserved seats in the SC/ST category will not be released.

JoSAA Counselling Mock Allotment 2024

Before the official seat allocation, the JoSAA 2024 mock allotment is held. JoSAA counselling 2024 first round mock allocation list will be declared in the fourth week of Jun 2024, and the second round mock allotment will be declared in the last week.

By using a mock allocation, candidates can learn their chances of getting into their preferred colleges depending on their rank and preferences. Once they know this, candidates might change their chosen colleges and courses. 

  • JoSAA 2024 Counselling will conduct two mock seat allotments for those eligible.
  • JoSAA 2024 Counselling will be done to give the students an idea of the actual counselling process.
  • JoSAA 2024 mock allotment 2024 will be released before the actual seat allotment. This will help candidates book seats in the desired participating institute.
  • If the colleges and courses allotted during mock allotment are unsatisfactory, the candidates can modify their order preferences accordingly.
  • Since the allotment is not final, candidates will be given enough time to change their preferences. 

Steps to Check JoSAA Counselling 2024 Mock Allotment

Candidates can follow the steps mentioned below to check mock allotment list for JoSAA 2024 counselling. 

  • Step 1: Candidates must visit the official website at josaa.nic.in.
  • Step 2: Click on the 'View Seat Allotment Result' link on the notification section.
  • Step 3: Candidates must enter their login credential such as the JEE Main 2024 application number, password, and security pin. 
  • Step 4:  Click on the 'Login' button. 
  • Step 5: JoSAA 2024 first round seat allocation result will be displayed on the screen. Candidates can download the same as PDF file for future references.

JoSAA Counselling 2024 Tie Breaker

When JoSAA counselling 2024, if multiple students of the same category have the same rank and the number of seats is filled, there is a provision for seats to be supernumerary. Admission to those students will be accomplished by extending the seats for that particular rank.

JoSAA 2024 Cut Off

JoSAA 2024 cutoff for each round will be released for IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. The cut off will be made available by the exam administrators independently for each participating institute and subject. Candidates must choose different details, including round, institute type, course name, and category, to check the JoSAA cutoff.

JoSAA Reporting Centres 2024

After completing the allocation process, the candidates must check their documentation at the JoSAA 2024 reporting centres. On the official website, the authorities publish a list of reporting centres of JoSAA 2024. Candidates can review the critical information regarding the JoSAA 2024 reporting centres here.

  • Candidates must physically appear for document verification at the JoSAA reporting centres in 2024.
  • All essential documentation must be carried by candidates in original form and as photocopies for verification.
  • Various JoSAA reporting centres will be available for IITs, GFTIs, IIITs, and NITs.
  • Candidates must report to the JoSAA 2024 reporting centres in accordance with the institutes they have been assigned. The NIT+ system (NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs) and IITs will have their institutions.
  • After the verification phase, candidates must finish the admissions process by appearing at the designated institute.
  • If a candidate's seat allotment changes from the NIT+ system to the IITs or vice versa, the candidate must report to the new institute. The assigned seat will be cancelled if candidates don't show up.
