NIT Calicut is located about 22 kilometres north-east of Calicut City. The National Institute of Technology Act 2007, which gained the President of India's assent on June 5, 2007, established the institute as a Technical Institution of National Importance. It's a residential campus with modest facilities and excellent road, rail, and air connections. The institute's mission is to build high-quality technical education and staff by establishing fundamental engineering concepts, technical and management skills, creative research capabilities, and exemplary professional conduct. More than 50 courses in engineering, management, architecture, and science are available at the institute. These courses are available for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees.

NIT Calicut admission for 2022 for B.Tech commences after the results of JEE Main. The candidate needs to apply and qualify in JEE Main for B.Tech and B.Arch degree programmes GATE for the M.Tech course and a valid score in CAT for admissions in MBA.


NIT Calicut has different eligibility criteria for different courses. Students are required to qualify for the same to be able to apply for their desired choice of courses. The eligibility criteria for the courses are mentioned below:

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech

  • The candidates must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 75% marks from a recognized board or institute, cumulative in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths.
  • Candidates must have a valid score in JEE Mains.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech

  • The candidate should have completed a B.Tech degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • Candidates must have a valid score in GATE.

Eligibility Criteria for MBA

  • The candidate should have graduated with a full-time Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for reserved category).

There is a selection from the campus. Cs branch has the highest number of recruiters and also other non-Cs branches like Ece and EEE are also at par with CS. Many companies like JP Morgan delloite Goldman Sach ABB Electric Microsoft Cisco Oracle Reliance comes for placement. The alumni network is pretty strong and is very helpful in case of a referral for an internship. There is on campus internships and but for off-campus internship, u only will get limited help from the training and placement cell.

The course fees for B.Tech at National Institute of Technology Calicut [NITC] is around 1.2-1.4 lacs. The NIT, Calicut has an Institute-run TnP department ( Training and Placement) department which conducts a year-long placement drive for students in their final year. Various key companies such as Oracle, Goldman-Sachs, Microsoft have hired a considerable number of students from Computer Science and other circuit branches for high salaries ranging from 25L to 50L in the past. Core branches such as CS, EEE, EC, and Mech usually have a high placement percentage with CS at the top with a placement percentage of over 90%. The average salary of IT companies would be around 7-10L while core companies such as MRF, LnT offer salaries from 5-8L. Non-core companies such as Byjus, Times, etc also hire students for Sales, Marketing, Creative profiles as well. The institute also has a good alumni wherein all students are required to join in their graduating year.
