Vishwavidyalaya is a semi-residential institution. Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya Facilities:

The bushy green refreshing campus of GGU spans an area of approximately 655 acres and is located 5 km away from Bilaspur Town. River Arpa known as the Lifeline of Bilaspur runs parallel to the GGU campus. GGU later transformed into Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya which is a Central University of India established under the Central Universities Act 2009. The Vishwavidyalaya campus is spread over an area of approx. 655 acres. The campus is located 5 Km away from the main town. A garland of ornamental trees and ponds crows the site. The fee will be submitted by the student at the time of Admission. Refundable Caution Money is covered in the fee for the 1st Semester. The students will pay caution once only. The fee structure for some of the courses are given below:

  • The course fee for BA is INR 6150/- per annum.
  • For the MA course, the course fee is INR 6,550/- per annum.
  • The fee structure for B.Tech is INR 28,850/- per annum.
  • M.Tech course fee is about INR 32,850/- per annum.

Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya Hostel Details:

In view of the confined hostel facilities available, the applicants must know that the privilege of admission to a course of a study in the UTD would not automatically authorise one for allocation of hostel comfort and that the application of the students for hostel allotment will be granted if seats in the hostel is nb available. The following are the facilities provided by the university:

  • There are 2 hostels in GGU, each for boys and girls separately.
  • The hostels at GGU provide accommodation for 700 boys and 500 girls.
  • The Vishwavidyalaya faculty member is the Warden at the hostel as well and supervises each hostel.
  • Students studying in the UTD seeking hostel accommodation will be required to apply in the prescribed application form.
  • The first priority is given to those who were admitted during the previous academic session and have yet to complete the course at GGU.
  • The second priority is given to those admitted to a full-time program and coming from outside Bilaspur.
  • Hostel residents at GGU are expected to follow the rules and regulations prescribed for them as well as all the requirements of corporate life.
  • Failure to observe discipline or violation of rules may make a student liable for disciplinary action which may result in the withdrawal of Hostel Facilities.
  • The hostels at the GGU campus are Swami Vivekanand Boys' Hostel, Boys' Hostel Type-IV, Forestry Boys' Hostel, and Girls' Hostel.

  • Daily Routine is from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. in which 12 p. m. -1p. m. or 1 p. m.- 2 p. m. for lunch as per time table decided for classes and lab. They are either in 1st half or 2nd half.
  • Three internal exams for subjects are taken i.e two class tests and one mid-semester exam . After that end sem exam after 4-5 month of schedule studies . Projects are in 4th year that are compulsory (Minor and Major in 7th and 8th sem) , or you can do in 2nd and 3rd yr by making ur own group and choose the faculty .
  • Quality of teaching in Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya is good , and the method too , mostly teachers focus on gate syllabus and they refer IIT and IISC's lectures.
  • Overall Experience is nice because I got what I wanted (chemical engineering) and less fees, government university and time and material for GATE .

  • There are students societies which is made every year by having elections in college , rather than there are various clubs for extra curricular such as cultural etc.
  • The main Festivals in Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya is Technical fest every year in our B.tech department, rather than various sports and cultural programs organized by societies every year.
  • In general, life in GGU is good. There are a lot of memories ( final year ), a lot of pressure for studies , jobs and for higher studies .

  • Classes are conducted from Monday to Friday(Saturday and Sunday is holiday). The class timings are from 9am to 5pm or 10am to 6pm. There is an hour break from 1pm to 2pm for lunch. The classes are conducted in either first half or the second half. The classes are conducted regularly. There are 4 to 5 lectures everyday. The labs are conducted batch wise, so the students do not have to attend labs everyday of the week.
  • The quality of teaching is high and all the teachers are good. The students are taught in a language they understand. The teachers are cooperative.
  • According to the college syllabus, the students need to focus a lot on 2nd and 3rd-year subjects because these subjects are important for GATE. The students can join coaching if they want for GATE, CAT.
  • There is no such stress on projects until final year. So the students can utilize their time in preparing for competitive exams.
  • Overall experience in college is okay. The students will get to learn a lot, not only in academics but also in other aspects.

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS
  • The student societies include Udaan, Abhinartan, Urchins, Tarang. Udaan is the college magazine, that has many boards like the technical board, english board, hindi board, marketing board, photography board. All these boards work together on the college magazine.
  • Abhinartan is the college dance group that includes some of the awesome dancers from college. Urchins is the college dramatics group. It includes some of the best actors. This group performs street plays to create awareness among college students. Tarang is the music group. It includes singers and musicians.
  • To become a part of these groups, auditions are held every year. The student can participate in the auditions and showcase their talent and become a part of of these clubs.
  • There are festivals on campus as well. Technical festival "Equilibrio" is celebrated every year in the month of January or February. It includes many technical events and cultural events as well. The students can participate in the events and workshops that are held during this festival. These events and workshops help students gain practical knowledge at the industrial level. They get to learn something that is not taught in the class. Many fun events are also conducted.
  • Sports week is also conducted. Students from all courses participate in sports. If the students are good at some particular sport they should definitely participate. Students are also given opportunity to play for the university in other colleges.
  • Life in college is fine. You can have great time with friends. The campus is covered with trees. The weather is fine during July-February. After February it gets really hot. The rainfall is quite frequent in the months of July,August and September. The campus looks beautiful during the spring and the rainy season. You can enjoy the greenery in the campus. The college has three lakes and a temple too.
  • Couples getting frisky in college campus can lead to notice to parents after a couple of warnings.

Admission Procedure/General Instructions


1. Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur invites applications for admission to the various courses for the academic session 2016-17 through Vishwavidyalaya Entrance Test (VET).
2. There are two modes of submission of application forms i.e. ONLINE and OFFLINE for Indian Nationals. For Foreign Nationals policy of admission is attached separately.
3. Before submitting application forms read the instructions carefully. Mere appearance in the Vishwavidyalaya Entrance Test (VET) or inclusion of name in the merit list does not entitle a candidate to be considered for admission to a course unless he/she fulfils the prescribed
eligibility conditions for that course.
4. ONLINE Mode- A candidate may submit his/her application form online by visiting university
website in and by clicking on link “Online/Offline Application to admission 2016-17” on or before 28.04.2016.
5. While visiting university website admissions, click Online Application Form/New Registration, fill up the information required and choose options for payment mode online or through Bank Challan. If candidate wants to submit test fee through Bank Challan then take a print out of challan generated online and deposit the requisite fee in any branch of
State Bank of India.
