IIT Jodhpur was set up in 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The institute got its stature as an autonomous institute of national importance in 2011 after the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act 2012. The IIT Jodhpur campus covers an area of 852 acres.

In 2024, NIRF ranked IIT Jodhpur 28th in the engineering category. Admission to B.Tech at IIT Jodhpur are based on JEE (Advanced) score and JoSAA counselling, whereas admission to M.Tech courses are based on the GATE scores. IIT Jodhpur also offers an MBA program, and admission to this course is based on CAT scores.

IIT Jodhpur provides both summer internships and placements. According to the IIT Jodhpur B.Tech Placement Report 2024, 380+ job offers were created. The institute was also able to place around 92% of the students enrolled. Moreover, the highest and average package for the MBA batch stood at INR 24.81 LPA and INR 11.77 LPA, respectively.

IIT Jodhpur Admission

IIT Jodhpur admission 2025 is ongoing. Admission to various courses offered by the institute is entrance-based. Entrance exams like JEE Advanced, GATE, IIT JAM, and CAT are accepted for admission. The admission criteria for some of the popular IIT Jodhpur courses are given below:

• B.Tech: Candidates must have completed 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology. Selection is based on JEE Advanced exam and JoSAA counselling.
• M.Tech: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant stream. For selection, candidates must perform well in the GATE exam and participate in COAP counselling.
• M.Sc: Applicants need to have completed graduation with at least 55% marks. Valid scores in the IIT JAM exam and participation in JOAPS counselling are required for selection.
• MBA: Applicants must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.00 CGPA on a 10-point scale or equivalent. Selection is based on valid CAT scores, work exprerience, gender diversity, and personal interview.
