Choice of College

After enrollment, the candidates will have to submit their choices for colleges and courses/programs. The institutions and courses must be chosen by the candidates according to their liking as it will be considered in the seat assignment session. The final allotment, however, is merit-based.

Dual Reporting in JoSAA 2021 Counseling

This means the candidate will have to report to the center twice under JoSAA 2021. It will only be applicable if the allotment has been upgraded at some rounds of counseling. If the candidates were first allocated a seat at the NITs and it got upgraded to IITs or any other institute then the candidates will have to report for IITs as well as the NIT rounds.

In simple words, if the seat of a candidate is changed from IIT to NIT+system and vice versa, then he/she has to report at both of the reporting centers one after the other to make sure that his/her admission is confirmed. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the candidature of the applicant.

The opening and closing rank will be announced after seat allotment result. Candidates can check the previous year's JoSAA opening and closing rank to attain an idea about how the rank this year will be.

After the registration process is completed, the counselling process starts. The registration for JoSAA counselling started on October 6, 2021.

JoSAA conducted the seat allotment in two formats, once as a mock allocation and the second time as a final seat allocation. The mock seat allocation is done to let the candidates have an idea about the colleges that accept their scores in JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. After the mock allotment, candidates will be allowed to make changes to their choices of colleges/courses. This process is held in two rounds do that the candidates can refine their college/course choice so that they can get the best one during the final seat allotment process.

The final seat allotment will be conducted in a total of 6 rounds for admission through JoSAA 2021. The seat allotment dates are as follows:
