JEE Main 2023 Counselling Process
Before JEE Main counselling date 2023, there will be two mock rounds so that the candidates get clarity on the actual JEE Main counselling 2023. The process involves various steps such as JEE Main registration, selection of colleges and courses, paying the JEE Main counselling fees, choice-locking, etc. A detailed description of each step is given below.
Step 1: JEE Main Counselling Registration
- Candidates will be required to visit the official website of JoSAA.
- Log in to the page using the roll number.
- The registration form for JoSAA will be displayed on the screen.
- Read the instructions carefully before clicking on "I Accept".
- Then fill out the registration form with the appropriate information.
- Click on the "Declaration".
- Now, click the "Submit" button.
- Read the instructions carefully and click on "Confirm Registration".
Step 2: Online Choice Filling and Locking
- After successfully registering for the counselling, candidates will be asked to select the institute type, name, and academic program.
- After filling in the above information, click on the "Choice filling and locking" option.
- Now select the college and the course by filling in as many preferences as possible.
- Then click on the "Save" button.
- The students are advised to be careful while locking their choices, as these cannot be changed after submission
Step 3: JoSAA 2023 Seat Allotment
- Candidates will be granted admission to a college based on category, AIR in JEE Main 2023 rank list, reservation norms, choice filling, and vacancies.
- Candidates will get the seat allotment letter via SMS/E-mail from JoSAA a few days after completing their choice.
- Candidates are advised to download the seat allotment letter.
Step 4: Fee Payment and Seat Acceptance
- Pay the acceptance fees to confirm the seat allotment.
- Fee payment can be made by Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking.
- Candidates are advised to download the Fee payment slip, which serves as proof of fee payment to be produced on JEE Main counselling 2023 date.
- After all the steps have been completed, the candidates will get a provisional admission letter at the end of the counselling process.
Candidates can, however, employ float, freeze, slide, and withdraw if they are dissatisfied with their assigned seat.
- Float: This option is available to candidates who want to keep their assigned seats or upgrade them.
- Freeze: Candidates who are content with their assigned seats and do not wish to engage in additional rounds of counselling can choose the 'Freeze' option.
- Slide: Candidates can choose the 'Slide' option to take the assigned seat and upgrade their programme at the same college/institute.
- Withdraw: Candidates who have already taken a seat but wish to withdraw their acceptance can report to the designated institute before the final round of JEE Main 2023 seat allocation.

Step 5: Reporting to the Allotted College
- Lastly, candidates must report to the college allotted to them on the assigned date and time slot.
- They must carry original certificates and documents to complete the admission procedure.
Step 6: Final reporting to the allotted institute
This is the final step of JEE Main 2023 counselling. Candidates must report to the allotted institute and pay the balance fees within the prescribed timeline.

Reservation in JEE Main Counselling 2023
JEE Main counselling 2023 will follow the Reservation Rules laid by the Government for the admission process. Candidates will be assigned All India Ranks (AIR) as per their respective categorical reservation policy.
JEE Main Special Round Counselling 2023
JEE Main counselling 2023 includes the CSAB provides centralised counselling for the following four categories.
- CSAB Special Round is open to all NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs in India.
- CSAB SFTI (Self-Financing Technical Institutes): For 12 self-financing technical institutes
- CSAB NEUT: For extra seats in NITs for Union Territories and several AICTE-approved institutes in the North East and Union Territories (NEUT). Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar, and Lakshadweep are among the 12 North East and Union Territories for which the CSAB will conduct counselling.
- CSAB Supernumerary: For the Union Territories (UTs) of Andaman & Nicobar, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep & Khandvi's supernumerary round of counselling.
After JoSAA 2023 seat distribution process is completed, the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) will conduct two special rounds of JEE Main counselling 2023.
- For seats that remain unfilled after seven rounds of JoSAA counselling, CSAB special rounds are held.
- Candidates with a valid JEE Main 2023 score can participate in the counselling round.
- Registration for CSAB 2023 special round counselling will tentatively begin in the last week of Aug 2023.
JEE Main Eligibility for Admission to B.Arch
- Candidates appearing for B.Arch must have secured 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
- Candidates appearing for B.Plan must have secured 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
JEE Main Eligibility for Admission to NITs, IIITs & CFTIs

JEE Main Counselling 2023 - JoSAA
Candidates who have qualified for JEE Main but have not qualified for JEE Advanced can apply for colleges like NITs, IITs, and GFTIs. The candidates can register at their preferred college, and the seat will be allotted based on the rank scored, category, and seat availability. After the seats have been allocated, the candidates can proceed with document verification and fee payment.
JEE Main Counselling 2023- CSAB NEUT and CSAB SFTI
JEE Main 2023 counselling for CSAB NEUT and CSAB SFTI will be similar to that of JoSAA.
- CSAB NEUT Counselling 2023: CSAB NEUT is conducted by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) to fill out the supernumerary seats in the North East Region and Union Territories.
- CSAB SFTI Counselling 2023: CSAB SFTI is conducted for candidates in Self Financing Technical Institutes. A total of 34 institutes participate, and the seat allocation is based on the order of preference filled by the candidates based on JEE Main All India Rank (AIR) in Paper I and Paper II, respectively.

If a candidate has accepted a seat of an NIT in the previous round and his seat is upgraded to an IIT in the next round, then he will have to report at the reporting centre of the IIT and accept the seat even if he has reported at the NIT, otherwise, he will lose both the seats. As the process involves two reporting it is called dual reporting.
