NIT Delhi Overview

NIT Delhi was established in the year 2010 by an act of parliament and has been declared as an Institute of National importance. It is an autonomous institute that aims to produce human resources with more creative, competitive, and innovative qualities with high intellect and ethical values.

The institute is approved by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development [MHRD], Govt. of India. NIT Admission offers Under Graduate Programmes, Post Graduate Programmes, Doctorate Programmes. NIT Delhi is one of the 30 NITs set up by the Government of India. It is one of the top-ranked colleges in India. It offers quality education in the field of Engineering. The admission of the institute is done through the Central Seat Allocation Board.

NIT Delhi Facilities:

NIT Delhi provides facilities like a computer center, central library, laboratories, audiovisual enabled classrooms, sports centre, canteen and hostel.

Computer Centre:

  • The NIT Delhi Computer Centre was established in 2014 to cater to the computational requirements of the Institute and is equipped with the latest Technological Resources.
  • The Computer Centre maintains and manages the WiFi facility through rack-mounted blade servers in the campus having High-speed fibre backbone, managed by Layer 4 Switches providing 500 Mbps [1:1] bandwidth Speed.
  • These networking facilities are also extended to Hostel and Residential areas of the campus.

Central Library:

  • The NIT Delhi Central Library was established in the year 2012.
  • All the faculty members, students, and staff of NIT Delhi are entitled to access all the library facilities and services.
  • It has a very good reading room with proper ventilation and natural lighting facility.
  • The library has a rich collection in the field of Engineering and Science & Technology including mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Polymer Science, and Environmental Sciences and also in the field of Humanities and Social Science including English and Economics.

C-DAC:

  • The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing [C-DAC] unveiled the world's most compact supercomputing system named Param Shavak which has the following Features.

    • Powered with 2 multicore CPUs each with a minimum of 12 cores
    • 2 accelerator cards
    • 3 Tera-Flops peak computing power with 8 TB of storage

The Placement Office is responsible for campus placement at NIT Delhi. NIT placement has the following features:

  • The Training and Placement Officer, the Placement Office staff, and the student coordinators handle various necessary tasks in the office like inviting companies, scheduling & executing placement-related activities and carrying out all official communication with recruiters and with students.
  • The Placement Office is well equipped with excellent infrastructure to support every stage of the placement process.
  • The facilities include seminar halls to conduct workshops and preplacement talks, tele-interview room, videoconferencing facilities, fully computerized and air-conditioned office, infrastructure to support online and written screening tests.

National Institute of Technology Delhi Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates seeking admission at NIT Delhi have to check their eligibility before applying for the course. The Eligibility Criteria for the courses are mentioned below:

  • The student must have a valid score in JEE Main.
  • The student must have completed 10+2 with PCM as subjects with at least 75% aggregate from a recognized university.
 M.Tech
  • The student must have a valid score in GATE.
  • The student must have completed a Bachelor's degree with at least 60% aggregate from a recognized university.
PhD
  • The Student must have completed a Master's degree with at least 60% aggregate from a recognized university.

National Institute of Technology Delhi Admission Procedure:

The NIT Delhi admission is done online on the official website. Admission for B.Tech programmes is made on the basis of the performance in the Joint Entrance Examination [JEE] for the Indian Nationals. The intake in each B.Tech programme has been increased to the strength of 60 students. Admissions to 50% of the seats are made amongst the students of Delhi & Chandigarh and the remaining 50% seats are made on the basis of All India ranking of the aspiring applicants.

The intake in each M.Tech programme is 15 students. Admissions to the M.Tech Programmes are made on the basis of performance in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering [GATE].


National Institute of Technology Delhi Hostel Details:

NIT Delhi has many facilities on campus. NIT Delhi facilities include hostels. There are separate NIT Delhi hostels for both boys and girls. There are five hostels, of which, three are for boys and two for girls. The boys' hostel is located inside the campus but the girls' hostel is placed outside the campus at Rohini, Delhi. All the hostels are well furnished. The hostels provide mess facilities to the students. The hostel also provides facilities like RO filtered drinking water, geysers, and water heaters, recreational common room, and sports facilities.

Academis at NIT Delhi is well organised and rigorous. Regular classes are organised and a student is supposed to have a maximum attendance of 75%. Based on the topics taught by the faculty assignment and tests are given to the students ar regular periods. Courses are updated and maximum choices are available for ECE,CSE and EEE branch students. Faculty at NIT Delhi are well qualified and latest methods are used to make the classroom session more interactive. Professor are available most of the times and ready to help student with any issues.

Social Atmosphere

There is no discremination done on the basis of gender, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics and economic status. Campus atmosphere is good and pleasent.

Consumption of alcohol,tobacco,drugs is strictly prohibited and failure leads to restication. No bar is available near campus but NITD has couple of restaurent to group up.
