IIT Bombay Overview

IIT Bombay is a technical and research university located in Powai, Mumbai. It is an autonomous public university and one of the most reputed institutes. IIT Bombay Admission

Admission to various courses of IIT Bombay is through different entrance exams. For undergraduate courses in engineering, candidates need to clear JEE advanced. For postgraduate courses, entrance exams like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering for M. Tech and Ph.D. and the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. are required.   • The candidate should have passed the 10+2 examination from the recognized board.

IIT Bombay Ph.D. Eligibility

  • The candidate should have passed postgraduate with 60%.
  • They should have cleared the written entrance exam and interview or should have scored well on GATE. The score of the gate or written exam has a vital weightage.
  • A 4-year bachelor's degree is the minimum qualification required for engineering students.

IIT Bombay M.Sc. Eligibility

  • The candidate must have done their graduation from a recognized university with a minimum of 60%.

IIT Bombay Cut-Off

IIT Bombay Result

Every year, IIT Bombay publishes entrance and re-examination results. The orientation and registration program for IIT Bombay B. Tech students take place in November. For various internal exams, candidates can gain access to the result as per the instructions given by the department. Other than this, the results of various entrance exams are available on the institute's official website. 

IIT Bombay Infrastructure

  • IIT Bombay is spread across 545 acres of land and have more than 500 building on its campus.
  • There are 18 hostels for the students, which provide all the facilities that they might need at any given point in time.
  • There are also 2 Schools inside the IIT campus for the wards of students and staff. One of them is Kendriya Vidyalaya, and the other is the IIT Campus school.

IIT Bombay Placement

IIT Bombay has a dedicated placement cell that serves as a link between businesses and students. The placement committee administers the Placement Common Aptitude Test (PCAT). The purpose of PCAT is to replace the individual recruitment tests that companies currently use. Every year, over 200 companies come to campus for campus placement.

IIT Bombay released the placement report for the year 2021. According to the report, 83.58 percent of students were placed. There were a total of 1207 students who were placed. A CTC of INR 17.91 LPA was offered on average. During the IIT Bombay Placements 2021, engineering and technology played a dominant role. Uber offered a maximum salary of 2.05 CPA per annum. How are the placements at IIT Bombay?

 When it comes to placements, the college has a very high performance, with an increase in companies visiting the campus every year to recruit students. Almost 1700 job offers were made during the previous placement session, and 83 percent of students were placed. 45 international bids from various countries were received. The average CTC provided was INR 25 LPA. UBER made the highest offer of 2 CPA.

How to apply for admission at IIT Bombay?

Admission to various courses at IITB is based on the student's performance in the respective common test and interviews. For example, admission to M.Tech is via GATE, B.Tech via JEE, MSc via Test & Interview, and so on.

What are the various scholarships available for Ph.D. scholars?

  • The sports facilities in the campus are great with indoor basketball, volleyball and badminton courts, 6 lawn tennis courts and athletics, football and cricket grunds.
  • For the cultural scene, the Students Activity Centre (SAC) houses the Open Air Theatre most famous for the concerts during Mood Indigo, IIT Bombay's cultural festival.
  • College life in general is awesome.

  • Girls hostel is really nice, being newly constructed. The boys hostels are old buildings and so bit worn down. Mess food is in general good with different cuisines served throughout the week at differernt meals. Every hostel has all-night  canteen with affordable food.
  • Classrooms and labs are well equipped with AC.

IT Companies like Google, Microsoft come on campus to hire students. The average salary is about INR 20Lpa. around 80% students get placed every year. IIT Bombay has one of the best alumni networks as compared to any university in the world.
