The Roorkee College was the 1st engineering college in British India when established in 1847. It was renamed the Thomason College of Civil Engineering, in 1854,  and was given the status of university in 1948. It became the 1st Engineering University of Independent India in 1949. The University of Roorkee ranked as the best technological institutions in the world. In 1996 the IITR celebrated its 150th year of existence. The University of Roorkee was declared as an institute of national importance and became the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. 

IIT Roorkee offers Undergraduate courses in 10 disciplines in architecture, science and engineering and 55 postgraduate courses in engineering, architecture, and applied science. All departments and research centres provide the doctoral facility. IIT Roorkee has 3 campuses.

IIT Roorkee Admission 

IIT Roorkee admission is based on National Level examination which is conducted offline. IIT Roorkee PG and UG admission are initiated by filling up the online application form with the correct details. IIT Roorkee M.Tech admission is based on the eligibility and valid test score of the GATE examination. 

IIT Roorkee Ph.D admission 2021 is based on GATE / GPAT / JRF / NET score and eligibility. MBA admission is based on a valid CAT score along with eligibility criteria.

Admission to the courses is based on strict eligibility criteria, if the student fails to fulfil they are not allowed to apply for the courses offered by the IIT Roorkee. IIT Roorkee B.Tech Eligibility

IIT Roorkee offers a Bachelor in Technology program in Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical, Electronics & Communication, Polymer Science to name a few. It is a 4-year program with 8 semesters. Students have to undergo an internship while pursuing the program. IIT Roorkee B.Tech fees are INR 8,00,000/- for 1st year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate should have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognised board.
  • The candidate must have scored a valid score in the JEE Mains and JEE Advanced  examination

IIT Roorkee M.Tech Eligibility

The institute offers a Masters in Technology program in Hydro and Renewable Energy, Paper Technology, Water Resources Development & Management, Production & Industrial, as specializations to name a few.  IIT Roorkee M.Tech fees are INR20,000/-.

IIT Roorkee Cut Off

IIT Roorkee cut off 2021 will release after the results of JEE, GATE, JAM, CAT examination. The cut-off is released every academic year after the results for the above-mentioned exam are out for admission courses. IIT Roorkee B.Tech cut-off rank is 255. IIT Roorkee JAM cut off the rank is 1,457 for 2020. IIT Roorkee M.tech cut off will be released after the GATE result.

The JEE Advanced cut-off is decided based on:

  • The number of candidates appeared for the examination.
  • Level of Difficulty of the examination.

IIT Roorkee Result

IIT Roorkee releases admission results every year after the CAT, GATE, JAM, JEE Mains and JEE Advanced examination for MBA, M.Tech, M.Sc, B.Tech courses, respectively. Students can check the exam result on the official websites. Students who scored good percentile will receive a call from their choice of the institute for further rounds for admission to various courses.

IIT Roorkee campus is made upon 356 acres of land and provides all the facilities to its students and staff members. IIT Roorkee has 3 campuses in Saharanpur, Greater Noida and Roorkee. Class timing varies but they hey over by 6 pm every day except on Wednesday on which it gets over at 4 pm. But there is enough free time available You can go play sports in the evening, do yoga, jog etc. Or you can join cultural and hobbies clubs Quality of teaching is decent. Professors are experienced. Overall experience is quite nice


CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS

Clubs for music, art, dance, dramatics, robotics, astronomy etc available. Students enjoy bring part of them. Magazine groups also get common, and people are active and enthusiastic about it. Many festivals are also organised every year for tech, cultural, sports etc activities. College life is very good

They are well-qualified and have done several pieces of research not only in India but in foreign too. Teaching methodology is nice some teachers teach through powerpoint while some prefer writing on board. Classes usually start at 8:00 am and ends up at 6:00 pm with several breaks in between. Life is busy and you won't get how time passes.

The competitive academic environment and co-curricular activities in IIT, Roorkee keep the students on their toes. There are clubs like student club, Hobbies club,  U.G. club,  P.G. club, Alaknanda club and the Jawahar clubhouse. Indoor sports facilities are available like seven Billiards & Snooker Tables, Carrom boards, Chess boards, Table Tennis facilities and a Football table. The hobbies club also has sections devoted to pursuits like star-gazing, philately and numismatics, and robotics. The clubs also have reading rooms with a plethora of newspapers and light magazines. Each of the clubs has a TV room with a seating capacity of a hundred-odd people providing a great atmosphere.

A lot of opportunities for international exposure. DAAD and other foreign exchange partnerships exist. Various foreign Language courses are avilable. Average cost incurred on a foreign exchange program is minmal.

Student diversity and tolerance with regards to gender, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics and economic status is observed. Student/Dorm parties are not very public. Alcohol use at campus is prohibited.
