National Institute of Technology, [NIT] Warangal was previously known as Regional Engineering College. It was established in the year 1959. The first chain of NIT's in the country, foundation stone was laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on October 10, 1959.

Registration of the society of this college was completed on November 10, 1959. In the year 1972 college affiliation change from Osmania University to Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University. Again in 1976 affiliation change from JNTU to Kakatiya university. The College was further granted the status of Deemed University.

NIT Warangal admission can be done online with different processes for different courses. Candidate has to visit the official website for the admission process. NIT Warangal offers 08 Undergraduate, 29 Postgraduate and Doctorate programs.

It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education [AICTE], Ministry of Human Resource and Development [MHRD] and University Grant Commission [UGC]. Accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC] and National Institutional Research Framework [NIRF]. It is one of the top-ranked colleges in India, it offers quality education in the field of Engineering, Science, Arts, Computer Application and many more.

The college was honored with the status Institute of National Importance on 15th of August, 2007. NIT Warangal ranks 25th among top engineering colleges and overall ranking is 78 in India by NIRF in 2018, it was also ranked 15 among top engineering colleges in India by The Week in 2017, the Institute was ranked 11th among the technical institutes in the country by Outlook Survey in 2015 and it is at the top at NIT's level.

NIT Students Welfare:

Institute has different associations for the benefit of each student which are CSEA [Computer Science and Engineering], ECEA [Electronics and Communication Engineering Association] and MEA[ Mechanical Engineering Association].

National Institute of Technology has various clubs that benefit students in achieving a good position beyond academics. Clubs include DND [Dance and Dramatics], Music Clubs, Photography Club, Quiz Club, Value Education Club, Literary, Media Club, Painting Club, Nature Club, LAN Radio Club, Spic-Macay Heritage Club, and Debating Club.

On behalf of the welfare of students, the currier institute motivates students to do epic projects work which will not only help them but can also help other people. Some of the EPIC Projects are Mechanical BROOM, Pest Spray Detection, Healthy Heart, Low-Cost Water Filter, Mechanised Weed REmoveer, Portable Interactive Medical Treatment Assistive Kit and many more.

FISA [Forum for International Student Affairs] steps in National Institute of Technology for the welfare of international students and to provide them better facilities or to provide them with proper help. FISA, an infant club at the institute serves as a platform to showcase the talent of the foreign students and show that they are also a part of everyone else. Various sports are held so that they can communicate with more number of people and they will feel better on campus.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers [IEEE] purpose of this branch is to promote research among the students and provide a platform to showcase and improve their interests and talents. To join IEEE students have to follow the details given in the official website.

NIT Warangal has NCC [National Cadet Corps] that aims at inculcating a sense of patriotism and national pride in students. Also, it will help in physical fitness and also promotes all-round personality in the students. Adequate facilities exist in the Institute for regular parades firing, training obstacle course and organizing camps. It offers 1 credit course in I and II semesters of the B.Tech.

NSS [National Social Sevice] that aims at creating social awareness and also imparts human values in students. Its activities include protection of the environment and social services. It also offers 1 credit course in I and II semesters of the B.Tech.

Institue has also SC/ST Cell to safeguard the interests of the SC/ST students and employees of the Institute as per instruction of the Ministry of Human Resource Management. Many different cells are organized as Women's Protection Cell, OBC Cell, Minority Cell,  Differently Abled People Cell.

Annual Technical Festival Technozion is held Institute for 3 days. Its provide a platform for students across the globe to assemble, interact, share and gain knowledge in various fields of science and technology. From its inception in 2006, Technozion has grown in strength and numbers and is now considered to be amongst the second biggest technical festivals in India.

National Institute of Technology provides students Council which motivate students to take part in society of campus and motivates and encourage students to become active in all the field.

NAD [National Academic Depository] as per the guidelines of Ministry of Human Resource and Development, all university students have to register in this.

NIT Warangal has multiple number of more facilities for the welfare of students, which are basically Centre for Advanced Material [CAM], Centre for Automation and Instrumentation, Centre for Innovation and Incubation, multiple number of conference halls, Engineering and Maintenance Unit, Post Office, Guest House is provided in the campus, Shopping Complex and for each sport an individual sport room is provided with playground and other need immunities.

Insitute provides sports facilities to maintain the health of every candidate connected to institute society. Some of the outdoor games with every required facility are Cricket, Kabaddi, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Weight Lifting, Athletics, Tennis, Football, Kho-Kho, Throwball, and Hockey.

Central Library is fully computerized. Software used by the institute library in Windows XP environment. The Central Library supports the teaching and research programs of the Institute and provides facilities for general reading and disseminates information according to the requirement of the users. It is housed in a separate building with a plinth area of 4000 Sq. Mts.  It has around 1,79,797 books, back volumes, technical pamphlets, standards, CD-ROMs, Video Cassettes, e-books, etc. The total cost of the books is Rs. 8.81 Crores and it receives 110 Journals, 90 Indian and 20 Foreign at a cost of Rs. 5.91 lakhs.

Institute provide dispensary with one visiting doctor and two part-time doctors, who are assisted by supporting staff, nurses pharmacists, etc. For emergency condition institute has its permanent 24 hours ambulance facility. Institute provides transportations system for those who are willing to travel from college bus.

National Institute of Technology Warangal is provided by 2 canteens- one New NIT Canteen and other Staff Canteen with superior quality of food served in them.

For students who are interested in clubs like Music club, photography club, dance club art and cultural club, drama club can join in these clubs which we can improve our skills as well as we can have some fun. And there are so many fests which are popularly known Technozion and spring spree.NITW is not only good academics it also has sports. And life in this NITW is more enjoyable and we can have better future .

  • In each semesters there are four exams and one seminar.
  • The last six months of this course will be based on project in the industry related to electronic or photonics.
  • Students are always engaged with projects under the departmental professors.

B.Tech

  • Student must have completed 10+2 with at least 45% aggregate with PCM or PCB as subjects from a recognized university.
  • The student must have a valid rank in JEE Main.

MBA

  • Candidates must have completed Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized university.
  • Aspiring students must have a valid score in CAT/ MAT.

Ph.D

  • The candidates are admitted to the program through notification, released by NIT Warangal. Eligibility criteria, mode of admission and other details are subjected to the notification and may change from time to time.

MCA

  •  NIMCET is NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, a National Level Test conducted by NITs for admission into MCA program. The admission to the MCA program into NITs is based on the Rank obtained in NIMCET.

  • Student must have completed B.Sc from a recognized university.

National Institute of Technology Hostel Details:

 University facilities include hostel both for boys and girls separately. Hostel provides a wide range of facilities to ensure that students enjoy a vibrant campus life, while simultaneously accommodating a large number of students. Each hostel is well maintained with staff working overtime to ensure that students live comfortably inside the building premises. The hostel buildings are located close to the canteens as well as the administrative block.

The hostels have 24 hours water supply power backup available. A parking lot is located outside each hostel for the convenience of students. 24*7 securities, including lady guards in the girl's hostel, will be provided with. Common room with television is provided for the entertainment of students. Facilities for playing carrom chess are also available. Movies or sports matches can be projected on a large screen as per the choice of students.

Badminton court, TT rooms ensure that hostellers keep in touch with sports of their interest. Availability of daily newspapers is an added luxury. On request of candidate personal newspaper and magazines can be also be provided.

There are two Government non-vegetarian messes in the men’s hostels. These messes are operated on no profit no loss basis and cater to the taste of students from all regions of the country. There are mess representatives nominated from the students and a mess warden to supervise the smooth running of the messes.

There are three Institute Food Courts that are running on a contract basis known as IFC A, IFC B, IFC C, for the men hostels and Priyadharshini Mess for Ladies in the Ladies hostel premises.
