TANCET 2020 Results

The TANCET results 2020 will be released by Anna University. The candidates can download the scorecard which is important in the TANCET counselling process. If the candidate has lost his/ her scorecard then, they can apply for the duplicate scorecard by paying INR 100/- through Demand Draft. The TANCET scorecard includes the normalized score and total score.

After the TANCET 2020 results are declared, the examination authority will prepare the TANCET merit list recognizing the candidates who have scored the highest marks.

TANCET Results 2020

Result Availability: Anna University will announce the TANCET 2020 results on March 12, 2020. 

Enter Credentials: Candidates need to enter the credentials like user ID and password to check the results on the official website.

Mark Sheet: Applicants can download their TANCET 2020 Scorecard from March 23, 2020 onwards.

Merit List: Candidates can view their marks obtained in the TANCET exam and their rank; once they access the TANCET 2020 result. Marks obtained by candidates will be normalized as per the given formula and procedure to arrive at TANCET scores. After this merit ranking for candidates will be generated.

Cut-off Marks: Candidates qualifying TANCET 2020 cut-off set by Anna University, Chennai will be eligible for the admission process in various colleges in Tamil Nadu. Authority of Anna University declares TANCET cut-off for 2020. A candidate will have high chances of getting admission into the selected institutes if they score above TANCET 2020 cutoff.

Admission through TANCET Result 2020

A candidate who clears the TANCET 2020 cut off (which will officially be released after TANCET results) will be considered for the admissions into the M.Tech/M.E degree courses. These courses are offered by Anna University Departments, University Colleges of Engineering, Regional Centres of Anna University.

In addition to this, Government-assisted Engineering Colleges, finance Colleges and Arts & Science Colleges (Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges including Institutions) in Tamilnadu, SRM University and other Financing Engineering Colleges also consider TANCET 2020 scores for their M.Tech admissions. 

Calculation of TANCET 2020 Scores

Candidates will be evaluated on the Raw Scores (Marks scored by a candidate in TANCET 2020) and Normalized Scores obtained. Both scores will be calculated as follows:

Raw Score - Marks scored by a candidate in Part-1 + Part-2 + Part-3 in TANCET 2020.

Part 1 consists of Engineering Mathematics, Part 2 consists of basic engineering & Science and Part 3 is for different Disciplines.

Normalized Score - The Mean marks of Raw Scores for different disciplines may vary. To minimize this eventually, TANCET examination authority will use the following formula for calculating normalized score: 40 + (10/S)(R-M)

where S is for standard deviation, M is for mean marks, R is for raw marks.

TANCET 2020 Merit List Details

TANCET 2020 Merit list, for candidates who clear TANCET 2020 cutoff marks and for those aspirants who have cleared GATE exam; will be prepared by Anna University, Chennai.

Anna University prepares 3 separate merit lists for admission through TANCET 2020. The merit lists will be for GATE exam qualifiers, TANCET 2020 candidates, and sponsored category candidates.

GATE Exam Category Merit List:

For these Candidates (Engineering/Technology), GATE Score will be taken into account for preparing the merit list. 

Those candidates who are appearing for Engineering Science and Life Science paper, a merit list will be prepared based on a Candidate's GATE 2020 score.

Also, the Usual Merit List is prepared for GATE (Technology /Engineering) and GATE (Engineering Science XE, Life Science XL)

TANCET 2020 Category Merit List:

Merit List will be generated based on TANCET scores, which are secured by candidates in TANCET 2020.

Sponsored Category Merit List:

A small number of seats are made available to candidates employed and sponsored by Governmental organizations, Government aided educational institutions and registered professional architects with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience.

A candidate who is from the sponsored category can get admission only to the University Departments of Anna University, Chennai. Merit list will be prepared based on TANCET 2020.

TANCET 2020 Cut-off

TANCET cut-off score is the minimum marks a candidate must obtain to qualify for TANCET 2020.

The cut-off for TANCET 2020 exam will be different every year.

TANCET 2020 cut off score is based on many factors such as: 

  • The total number of candidates appearing in TANCET 2020 Examination.
  • The total number of candidates who passed the examination.
  • The difficulty level of the question paper.
  • The total number of seats.

Hello Tharini,

The marks scored depends on the cutoff marks for the different colleges. For which college you have to apply depends on the cutoff marks of that college and marks secured by you.

If the hall ticket is lost after the test, a duplicate hall ticket can be
obtained on payment of 100/- in the form of a Demand Draft, with a written
request to The Secretary, TANCET, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025,
indicating the Registration No. / Application No. and the name of the Examination
Centre.
