The result for the March session for JEE Main 2021 was announced on March 24, 2021. The exam for April session got postponed due to the spike in COVID-19 cases. The application process for the May 2021 session of JEE Main has also been delayed due to the same reason. JEE Main March 2021 Result Highlights

Candidates check their JEE Main 2021 result by logging in and using their application number and date of birth or password. Since the exam is conducted in various shifts, the raw marks are converted into percentile scores using the normalization process which is done by NTA, the conducting body.

To view and access the JEE Main 2021 Result, visit the website, and enter your Roll No. and DOB (dd/mm/yyyy). The result will be given in the form of a scorecard, that will have all the details including the category-wise cut off marks.

Important Note: JEE Main Results is compiled based on the final answer key declared. Students cannot raise any objections to the score they have obtained, as the marks published on the scorecard will be final. No requests for revaluation of the result will be entertained.

  • The result will also show whether the candidate is qualified for the next level i.e. JEE Advanced Exam, or not. All India Rank will be used for admission through the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)/ Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) to NITs/ IIITs/ CFTIs/SFIs/ Others.
  • Candidate should score a minimum of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) in class 12th, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th board exam to qualify for admission to IITs/ NITs/ IIITs or CFTIs. Class 12th marks are not considered while calculating the normalized scores.
  • Merit list for admission under the DASA category will be prepared separately by NTA based on rank obtained in JEE Main 2021.
  • Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will be responsible for JEE Main and JEE Advanced Counselling process for the year, 2021.
  • Evaluation of multiple-choice questions of B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Planning will be carried out using final answer keys and the marks obtained by a candidate will be considered further for computation of the result of JEE Main 2021.

To check the JEE Main Result one has to visit the official website. The result viewing portal will appear similar to the image presented below.

Enter your JEE Main Roll Number and DOB (mm/dd/yyyy) and access your results.

JEE Main 2021 Score Card/Rank Card Sample

Important changes for JEE Main 2021 Results
  • Candidate's Class XII score will not be considered for normalization of the score
  • For admissions to IITs/NITs/IIITs/CFTIs, the candidate must obtain a minimum score of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) or must be in the top 20 percentile in Class XII results.
  • Only the top 2,50,000 All India Rank holders of JEE Main 2021 will be eligible to write JEE Advanced 2021. The number has been increased by 10,000.
Contents of Scorecard The result/scorecard will indicate the total marks obtained, All India Rank (AIR), state rank, category-wise rank (if applicable), cut off, and eligibility for JEE Advanced 2021.
The JEE Main 2021 scorecard must be downloaded and printed for further use. It will be required for the counselling procedure and should be retained until the admissions are done.

The JEE Main 2021 rank list will be released after the announcement of the result for the April session. The candidate's percentile score will be considered while preparation of the merit list. NTA will derive the "normalized scores" of candidates to conclude the JEE Main Rank List 2021.

How to calculate the JEE Main 2021 Percentile Score?

The following formula is employed to calculate the percentile score in JEE Main 2021.

(Total no. of students who attained the same marks as the candidate in the same session) x 100 / (Total no. of candidates who appeared in that session)

The candidate with the highest score achieves 100 percentile.

Detailed normalization process for JEE Main 2021 Result

This list is prepared for all the sessions of JEE main 2021.

  1. Percentile calculation (to 7 decimal places) is done, to reduce the chances of a tie.
  2. A final merit list is prepared based on these scores.
  3. A final list of students is compiled, in which, only the best score attained in an academic year is considered.
  4. Seat allotment is done accordingly.

The students are advised to attempt more than one session and try to clear the exam with their best score in the first attempt itself.

Tie-Breaker Rule for JEE Main 2021 Result

Several lakhs of students attempt the JEE Main 2021 exam every year. The situation of the tie is not uncommon. In case of a tie, i.e. when two or more candidates obtain equal marks, inter-merit of such candidates shall be decided in the order mentioned below:

Resolution of marks obtained in Mathematics:

  • The candidate obtaining higher marks will be given a better rank.

Resolution of marks obtained in Physics:

  • The candidate obtaining higher marks will be given a better rank.

Resolution by finding the ratio of positive marks and negative marks:

  • Candidates having the higher absolute value of the ratio will be given a better rank. If the resolution is not possible after this criterion, candidates will be given the same rank.

Resolution by marks obtained in Aptitude Test in Paper-II (B.Arch./B.Planning):

  • Candidates obtaining higher marks will be given a better rank.

Resolution of marks obtained in Drawing Test in Paper-II (B.Arch./B.Planning):

  • Candidates obtaining higher marks will be given a better rank.

Resolution by finding the ratio of positive marks and negative marks:

JEE Main 2021 Answer Key

  • After the successful conduction of the exam, NTA will release JEE Main 2021 Answer Keys and Question Papers attempted by the candidate on NTA's website. Candidates can check these on OR
  • Visit the official website and using “JEE Main Login”, candidates will be able to check JEE Main 2021 Answer Keys once the same has been released.
  • The time and date to challenge answer keys will be notified after the answer keys have been released. The payment for the above-mentioned process can be made using a credit card, debit card, net banking, or any UPI.
  • The challenge fee once paid will not be refunded. NTA's decision on the challenges will be final and no further communication will be entertained and once subject experts examine all the challenges received then a final answer key will be displayed and declared.

JEE Main 2021 Counselling

  • The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will administrate the JEE Main Counselling and Seat Allotment.
  • The counselling for supernumerary seats in the technical institutes of the North East region and Union Territories will be administrated by CSAB NEUT.
  • Central Seat Allocation Board will administrate the counselling for 17 Self Financing Technical Institutes (SFTIs).
  • A maximum of six rounds of counselling will be conducted.
  • The qualified candidates will be called for the counselling rounds in order of rank obtained in the JEE Main 2021 Rank list.
  • A total of 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs, and 28 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) will participate in the counselling.

  • You will be granted admission to a college based on category, AIR in JEE Main 2021 rank list, reservation norms, choice filling, and vacancies.
  • You will get the seat allotment letter via SMS/E-mail from JoSAA a few days after filling their choice.

JEE Main 2021 Score and Result Important Points

  • All the candidates have to download their score/rank cards from the JEE (Main) official website only.
  • This score will have the actual marks obtained in Paper-I of JEE Main 2021 along with the status of those who qualify to appear for JEE (Advanced) – 2021 provided and the rank shall have separate All India Rank(AIR) and All India category rank.

1. Do I need to apply to the participating colleges separately?

Ans. No, the whole process of seat allocation and admissions in all the participating colleges (23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs, and 28 GFTIs) will be administrated by JoSAA through a centralized JEE Main Counselling.

2. Is it possible to apply for the next session after the result is declared?

Ans. Yes, the candidates can apply for the next session shortly after the result for the previous session has been announced. NTA will open the application window for a short period of time. The candidates can also choose to apply for all the sessions at once.

3. How will NTA prepare the IIT JEE Main Rank/Merit List?

Ans. Like every other year, JEE Main Score will be used to award All India Ranks (AIR) to candidates and State Merit Lists will be prepared based on seats allocated to NITs, IIITs and other Central and State Government funded institutes.

4. Which board conducts the counselling for SFTIs and NEUTs?

Ans. Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) conducts counselling for SFTIs and NEUTs. JoSAA will administrate the centralized JEE Main Counselling for IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

5. How will the normalization of marks happen in JEE Main 2021?

Ans. The normalization criteria are as follows:

  • Marks obtained in Class XII will not be considered in normalization.
  • Applicants who have obtained 75% marks (65% for reserved category candidates) in Class XII will qualify for JEE Advanced.
  • Or, if the candidate is one among the top 20 percentile holders in their state board, will qualify for JEE Main Counselling.
  • The normalized score will be calculated as: the number of candidates in the group with aggregate marks less than the candidate divided by the total number of candidates & multiplied by 100.

6. How can I check my JEE Main result without the application number?

Ans. The candidates need their application number and password to access the JEE Main scorecard. If the credentials have been misplaced, there are a few ways to retrieve them. The candidates can check the mail which was sent by the NTA at the time of registration. They can also reset their credentials by clicking on the "forgot application number" link given on the same page.

7. How to retrieve Application No. or Password to check the JEE Main 2021 result?

  • JEE Main Admit Card will have the candidate's roll number.
  • If the application number is not accessible then the candidate can retrieve it from the mail that was sent to the registered email after the completion of registration.

8. Which score will be considered when the conducting authorities are preparing the JEE Main 2021 Merit List?

Ans. The candidate will get the opportunity to appear for more than one session per academic year.
