NTA will release the JEE Main 2020 April result on the official website tentatively on September 18, 2020.

Candidates will be able to download and check their JEE Main scores by logging in and using their application number and date of birth or password. Since the exam is conducted in various shifts, the raw marks will be converted into percentile scores using the normalization process which is done by NTA, the conducting body.

JEE Main 2020 Results

  • All India Ranks (AIRs): Along with JEE Main 2020 Results, the All India Ranks and scorecards will be uploaded online on the official website.
  • To view and access JEE Main 2020 Result, visit the website, enter Roll No. and DOB (dd/mm/yyyy). The result will be published in the form of a scorecard which will have all the details including the category wise cutoff marks.

Important Note: JEE Main Results will be compiled on the basis of final answer key declared. Students cannot raise any objections to the score they have obtained, for the marks on the scorecard will be final. No communication regarding this will be entertained.

JEE Main 2020 Result

  • The Result will also show whether the candidate is qualified for the next level or not i.e. JEE Advanced Exam. All India Rank will be used for admission through the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)/Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) to NITs/ IIITs/ CFTIs/SFIs/ Others.
  • Candidate should score a minimum of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) in class 12th or be in top 20 percentile in 12th board exam to qualify for admission to IITs/ NITs/ IIITs or CFTIs. Class 12th marks are not considered for calculating normalized scores.
  • Merit list for admission under DASA category will be prepared separately by NTA on the basis of rank obtained in JEE Main.
  • Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will be responsible for JEE Main and JEE Advanced Counselling process for year 2020.
  • Evaluation of multiple-choice questions of B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Planning will be carried out using final answer keys and the marks obtained by a candidate will be considered further for computation of the result of January JEE Main 2020.

JEE Main 2020 Scorecard

  • You will have to download the scorecard from the official website to be allowed to participate in the counselling.
  • The scorecard of the candidate will also feature the All India Rank (AIR) and category rank (if applicable).
  • The conducting authority NTA will also release the JEE Main Rank list for B.Tech admissions.
  • The category-wise JEE Main 2020 cut-off (expected) is as listed below:

Detail Description

Important changes for JEE Main 2020 Results

  • Candidate's Class XII score will not be considered for normalization of the score 

  • For admissions to IITs/NITs/IIITs/CFTIs, the candidate must obtain a minimum score of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) or must be in the top 20 percentile in Class XII results.

  • Only the top 2,50,000 All India Rank holders of JEE Main 2020 will be eligible to write JEE Advanced 2020. The number has been increased by 10,000.

Contents of Scorecard

The result/scorecard will indicate the total marks obtained, All India Rank (AIR), state rank, category-wise rank (if applicable), cut off and eligibility for JEE Advanced 2020.

The JEE Main 2020 scorecard must be downloaded and printed for further use. It will be required for the counselling procedure and should be retained until the admissions are done.

Candidates will be able to view the OMR sheets after results are declared.

How to Check JEE Main 2020 Results?

To check the JEE Main Result one has to visit the official website. The result viewing portal will appear similar to the image presented below.

Enter your JEE Main Roll Number and DOB (mm/dd/yyyy) and access your results.

Follow the steps below to check JEE Main 2020 Results and download the scorecard:

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of JEE Main.
  • Step 2: Search and navigate to JEE Main 2020 Results option and click.
  • Step 3: Enter Roll Number and DOB on the login page. 
  • Step 4: Verify and submit the details to access JEE Main Result 2020.
  • Step 5: Save and download the scorecard for further reference.

JEE Main 2020 Score Card/Rank Card Sample

On the JEE Main scorecard candidate’s personal details like the following will be displayed.

  • Roll Number
  • Name
  • DOB
  • Name of his/her father

  • State code of eligibility

The marks obtained in an individual subject, as well as the total marks obtained in JEE Main 2020, will also be displayed. The eligibility/ cut off scores for JEE Advanced will be displayed as per the category.

  • The scorecard will not be sent via post/email/SMS to the candidate. It can be only accessed online.
  • The rank card is the most important document to be carried for JEE Main Counselling.
  • The scorecard will have the All India Rank, category wise rank, total marks obtained, candidate’s name and Roll Number.

Forgot Roll Number?

  • JEE Main Admit Card will have the candidate's roll number.
  • If the application number is not accessible then the candidate can retrieve it from the mail that was sent on registered email after the completion of registration.
  • In case, the candidate has lost both the application number and password, he/she can retrieve them using Forgot Password/ Forgot Application Number at jeemain.nic.in.

JEE Main Statistics

  • JEE Main 2020 was successfully conducted in the month of January, for which almost 9,21,261 candidates registered for January 2020 JEE Main Exam.
  • Out of these registered candidates, a total of 8,69,010 candidates appeared for the exam. 
  • There were 570 examination centres across the country and abroad. 
  • A total number of 536 Observers, 213 City- Coordinators and 19 Regional Coordinators were deployed at these centres to oversee the smooth and fair conduct of the examination.
  • The B.E. / B.Tech. was conducted in a total of 6 shifts from 7th to 9th January 2020.

JEE Main 2020 Answer Key

  • After the successful conduction of the exam, NTA will release JEE Main 2020 Answer Keys and Question Papers attempted by the candidate on NTA's website. Candidates can check these on www.nta.ac.in OR www.jeemain.nic.in.
  • Visit the official website and using “JEE Main Login”, candidates will be able to check JEE Main 2020 Answer Keys once the same has been released.
  • The time and date to challenge answer keys will be notified after the answer keys have been released. The payment for the above-mentioned process can be made using a credit/debit card/ net banking/ Paytm or UPI.
  • The challenge fee once paid will not be refunded. NTA's decision on the challenges will be final and no further communication will be entertained and once subject experts examine all the challenge received then a final answer key will be displayed and declared.

JEE Main 2020 Counselling

  • The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will administrate the JEE Main Counselling and Seat Allotment.
  • The counselling for supernumerary seats in the technical institutes of North East region and Union Territories will be administrated by CSAB NEUT.
  • Central Seat Allocation Board will administrate the counselling for 17 Self Financing Technical Institutes (SFTIs).
  • A maximum of six rounds of counselling will be conducted.
  • The qualified candidates will be called for the counselling rounds in order of rank obtained in the JEE Main 2020 Rank list. 
  • A total of 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and 28 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) will participate in the counselling.

JEE Main 2020 Seat Allotment

  • You will be granted admission to a college on the basis of category, AIR in JEE Main 2020 rank list, reservation norms, choice filling, and vacancies. 
  • You will get the seat allotment letter via SMS/E-mail from JoSAA a few days after filling their choice.

  • All the candidates have to download their score/rank cards from the JEE (Main) official website only. 
  • This score will have the actual marks obtained in Paper-I of JEE Main 2020 along with the status of those who qualify to appear for JEE (Advanced) – 2020 provided and the rank shall have separate All India Rank(AIR) and All India category rank.
  • Note: Only the All India Rank (AIR) is used for admissions through the Central Seat Allocation Board to NITs/IIITs/CFTIs/SFIs/Others, while other ranks are just for information purpose.

Rank Tie-Breaker Rule for JEE Main 2020:

In case of a tie, i.e. when two or more candidates obtain equal marks, inter-merit of such candidates shall be decided in the order mentioned below:

Resolution of marks obtained in Mathematics: 

  • Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.

Resolution of marks obtained in Physics: 

  • Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.

Resolution by finding the ratio of positive marks and negative marks: 

  • Candidate having the higher absolute value of the ratio will be given better rank. If the resolution is not possible after this criterion, candidates will be given the same rank.

Resolution by marks obtained in Aptitude Test in Paper-II (B.Arch./B.Planning):

  • Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.

Resolution of marks obtained in Drawing Test in Paper-II (B.Arch./B.Planning):

  • Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.

Resolution by finding the ratio of positive marks and negative marks: 

  • Candidate having the higher absolute value of the ratio will be given better rank. If the resolution is not possible after this criterion, candidates will be given the same rank.

Q. When will declare results for JEE Main CBT?

Ans. NTA will release the Results for JEE Main 2020 January session in the Last week of January 2020. JEE Main 2020 April session Results will be declared in the first week of May 2020.

Q. Do I need to apply to the participating colleges separately?

Ans. No. The whole process of seat allocation and admissions in all the participating colleges (23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and 28 GFTIs) will be administrated by JoSAA through a centralized JEE Main Counselling.

Ans. Follow the steps below to download the scorecard:

Q. How will prepare JEE Main Rank/Merit List?

Ans. Like every other year, JEE Main Score will be used to award All India Ranks (AIR) to candidates and State Merit Lists will be prepared on the basis of seats allocated to NITs, IIITs and other Central and State Government funded institutes.

Q. Which Board conducts the counselling for SFTIs and NEUTs?

Ans. Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) conducts the counselling for SFTIs and NEUTs. JoSAA will administrate the centralized JEE Main Counselling for IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.

Q. How will normalization of marks happen in JEE Main 2020?

Ans. The normalization criteria are as follows:

  • Marks obtained in Class XII will not be considered in normalization.
  • Applicants who have obtained 75% marks (65% for reserved category candidates) in Class XII will qualify for JEE Advanced.
  • Or, if the candidate is one among the top 20 percentile holders in their state board, will qualify for JEE Main Counselling.
  • The normalized score will be calculated as: the number of candidates in the group with aggregate marks less than the candidate divided by the total number of candidates & multiplied by 100.

The cutoff for all the categories for JEE MAIN is as follows:

  • For General category (GM), the minimum score required was 81.
  • For OBC Category, the minimum candidate score required was 32
  • For SC and ST categories, the minimum score required was 32 and 27 respectively.
