JEE Main 2025 Exam Day Guidelines: Instructions, Banned Items

The JEE Main exam strictly follows guidelines for a fair and smooth conduct of the exam. The JEE Main exam guidelines are available while downloading the admit card and the students must go through the instructions carefully to avoid any issues while reporting at the exam centre.

NTA has prescribed JEE Main 2025 exam day guidelines and instructions for session 1 and 2. Students must follow the guidelines as specified by NTA in the examination hall. They must carry a JEE Mains hall ticket and a valid ID proof to the JEE Main Exam Centre 2025. Importantly, students who have yet to register for session 2 through DigiLocker ID or ABC ID must report to the JEE Main exam centre an hour before the exam begins for verification.

JEE Main 2025 Exam Day Guidelines and Instructions for Session 1

Candidates appearing for the JEE Main exam session 2 must abide by these JEE Main Exam Day Guidelines 2025 and rules set by NTA throughout the exam. Furthermore, there are some added restrictions and regulations because of the pandemic.

In addition, students are advised to arrive at the examination centre on time with all the necessary documents. 

  • All the candidates must follow the JEE Main dress code 2025 on the day of the JEE Main 2025 exam. Shoes that have thick soles and garments with big buttons are not allowed.
  • Candidates need to maintain social distancing, and the conducting authority will carry out the exam in a contactless manner. 
  • Students must stay in the examination hall until the end time.
  • All the candidates are advised to download the admit card carefully and ensure the barcode is there on the hall ticket of JEE Mains. They need to read the instructions properly before appearing for the examination.
  • Students must check the exam venue before to be sure and avoid any confusion. If the examination centre was away from their residence, candidates were suggested to reach there a day before the exam.
  • Candidates are only allowed in the examination hall with an admit card and valid ID proof. The admit card and self-declaration (undertaking) downloaded from the NTA website and printed on A4 paper were to be carried to the exam centre.
  • They have to carry an additional photograph to paste into the attendance sheet. As mentioned earlier, anyone failing to produce those was not fit to attend the examination.
  • Extra or unnecessary baggage is not permitted inside the exam hall.

Q. Is a watch allowed in the JEE Mains examination hall?

Ans. As per JEE Mains instruction, candidates are not permitted to wear any watch or electronic device, including analogue, digital, or smartwatches, during the JEE Main exam 2025.

JEE Main 2025 Guidelines for PwD Candidates

PwD candidates are expected to bring their disability certificates in a prescribed format. The candidate must present a valid certificate to the frisking staff for allowing the use of a scribe. 

Following are the JEE Main 2025 exam day guidelines and instructions 2025 for session 2 in case of availing a scribe:

  • Candidates appearing from the PwD category have to mention their category, the type of disability they are facing, and the percentage of disability. They should carry proof of disability that is filled out while filling out the JEE Main examination. Failing to produce the necessary documents may result in disqualification.
  • Students with 40% or above will be entitled to a scribe's service. 
  • Along with the scribe, they must carry their Self Declaration (undertaking) regarding educational qualifications, passport-size photograph, valid government identity, and self-declaration (Undertaking).
  • PwD candidates have the freedom to choose their scribe/ reader.
  • PwD candidates are given 60 minutes extra as compensatory time. Candidates with 40% or above can avail of this facility, whether with a scribe or not. 

JEE Main Guidelines for Diabetic Candidates

An exception is made in the case of candidates who had diabetes. The following things to carry in JEE Main 2025 by the diabetic candidates: 

  • Fruits/ snacks if they need them.
  • Medicine for people with diabetes.
  • A clear/ transparent water bottle. 
  • Packed food like potato chips, chocolate, sandwiches, and other edibles are also not allowed.

Q. Is an analog watch allowed in JEE Main?

Ans. As per JEE Main exam hall instructions, students cannot wear analog watches in the exam centre.

Things to Carry for JEE Main 2025

NTA has provided clear instructions to all the students appearing for the JEE Main 2025 session exam. Candidates can check out the things to carry to the JEE Main exam centre 2025 below. 

  • Students must carry the JEE admit card 2025 and a government-issued valid photo ID proof.
  • Candidates can carry any one of the following ID proofs for verification such as a school ID card, PAN card, driving licence, voter ID, passport, or Aadhaar card.
  • They should carry additional photographs as they need to paste them on the attendance sheet. 
  • PwD students must carry a PwD certificate. 
  • The printout of the duly filled self-declaration form downloaded from the NTA official website should also be submitted on the day of the entrance test.
  • They must carry a blue or black ballpoint pen and a transparent bottle.
  • A scribble pad will be provided to the candidates for calculation before leaving the exam hall; students must hand over the pad to the invigilator.
  • If a student is diabetic then they are allowed to carry sugar tablets or fruits to the exam hall. 

JEE Main Exam Banned Items 2025

A few items are prohibited from the JEE Main examination hall. However, candidates found with the following items will not be approved to appear in the examination. 

  • Gadgets: Any candidate found carrying electronic devices like a calculator, electronic watch/ smartwatch, or mobile phone will be prevented from entering the examination hall.
  • Stationery: If candidates are found bringing any stationery like paper, geometry box, or pencil box, they will be banned from the exam. There is an exception for students appearing for B.Arch.
  • Personal belongings like purses, handbags, earphones, and microphones are prohibited inside the examination hall.
  • Cameras, tape recorders, and metallic items like metal bands and kara are strictly prohibited.
  • Any snackable items, like tea, coffee, chips and other food items are prohibited in the examination hall. However, there is an exception for diabetes candidates. 

NTA Guidelines for JEE Main 2025 Examination

As per the norms of the NTA, students must adhere to the exam day guidelines. Candidates can refer to the specific set of instructions for the JEE Main exam, as well as the JEE Main rules and regulations 2025 for session 2 for the examination centers, below. 

JEE Main Instructions 2025

  • All the examination centres implement proper safety measures.
  • Before and after each shift, the centre must disinfect the keyboards, chairs, and tables, including doors and windows.
  • Gaps between two seats are maintained as per Government of India guidelines.
  • Each examination room has its hand sanitiser for students and employees.
  • Each admit card had a barcode. After reaching the examination centre, candidates will be able to find the barcode reader. Candidates have to scan their barcodes and then will direct them to their respective labs.
  • Rough sheets will be provided to the candidates from the examination centre; those will be kept on the desk by the teachers/ invigilator before starting the exam to ensure hygiene. 
  • Candidates are advised to reach the examination centre before the mentioned time to avoid crowding. Maintaining social distancing is very important.
  • All the centres will ensure proper social norms. 

Q. What to carry for JEE Mains 2025?

Ans. As per JEE Main instructions students can carry a transparent ball pen, photo ID, admit card, and transparent water bottle. 

JEE Main Hall Instructions

  • Candidates are advised to fill out the admit card properly only after reading the necessary instructions.
  • Each candidate should report to the examination hall before the time allotted to avoid confusion.
  • Students with physical disabilities bringing their scribe should bring all necessary documents mentioned by NTA.
  • Each candidate should carry 50 ml of hand sanitiser.
  • During entry, candidates should maintain at least six feet of distance between each other. 
  • Candidates should sanitize their hands with the sanitiser provided in the examination hall. 
  • The test takers will be requested to remove their masks and use the mask provided at the centre. The centre will supply each candidate with a fresh mask before entering the examination hall. 
  • Candidates are advised not to bring any banned items to the examination hall.

  • In case of any rough work, the centre will provide the candidate with four A4 sizes of the rough sheet. Invigilators will keep it on their desks before the examination starts. If any candidate requires an extra sheet, they will have to ask for a paper, and the invigilator will provide it. 
  • Each seating area and examination hall will be thoroughly sanitised before the examination starts. 
  • Before pasting the photograph on the attendance sheet, candidates have to sanitise their hands properly and only then proceed.
