Introduction to NMAT 2019:

  • About: NMAT is an entrance exam conducted by GMAC (The Graduate Management Admission Council) once a year for candidates who aspire to become MBA graduates or want to pursue any management graduate degree in India. It is a national level computer based entrance test for admissions to MBA or other management degree programmes. NMAT is being accepted in some of the major universities across India such as SVKM's, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, MISB Bocconi, Mumbai, ICFAI Business School (IBS), Hyderabad and other locations, Alliance University, Bangalore to name a few.

NMAT Exam Dates:

  • Application Availability: The Application date for NMAT available on 3rd July 2019. Candidates have to submit the application before 3rd October 2019.

NMAT 2019 Eligibility:

  • As per the Institutions Requirements: It is the responsibility of the test taker to understand the eligibility requirements of all the universities and schools to which he/she is interested in applying before registering for NMAT by GMAC™ exam. If the test taker registers for the test and then determine that he/she is ineligible for admission to the desired program, no test fee refund will be made. For the eligibility requirements, test takers are advised to check the websites of each university and school where they plan to apply.
  • Registration Fee: All test takers who complete the Test Registration process pay the test fee within the time specified and follow the published NMAT by GMAC™exam terms and conditions may sit for the NMAT by GMAC™exam.


NMAT Admit Card:

  • Website: The candidates can download the admit cards from the official website.

  • Discrepancy: Once the admit card is downloaded from the website, the candidate must clarify if the details are correct. Any discrepancies have to be rectified before the exam date from the concerned authority.

NMAT 2019 Result

  • Website: The results are uploaded on the official website and can be accessed by the candidate by logging on to the link provided 

  • Shortlisting: After the result is announced, the shortlisted candidates are called for the consequent rounds of group discussion and personal interview.

NMAT 2019 Registration

  • Availability: The application process for NMAT 2019 begins from 3rd July 2019 till 3rd October 2019 on the official website.

NMAT 2019 Exam pattern:

  • Number of Questions: The number of questions in the exam is 120 which has to be answered within a span of 120 minutes.

  • Sections: The exam has three sections which are Language skills, Quantitative aptitude, and logical reasoning skills.

Q: Is the exam conducted in offline mode?

No. NMAT is conducted in online mode only.

Q: What is the exam pattern?

NMAT question paper consists of 120 objective type questions and is divided into three sections.

Q: What is the marking scheme?

For every correct answer, the candidate will be awarded one mark and there is no negative marking.

Q: Can a candidate switch between sections during the exam?

No. A candidate cannot switch between the sections during the exam. A certain period of time is allotted for answering all three sections. Once the allotted time is completed, the answers in that section cannot be edited.

Q: Can the section order be chosen by candidates?

Yes. Candidates can choose the order of the sections.

Q: Is working experience considered as a criterion?

Candidates with a working experience of minimum two years will have high chances of getting admission into the college.

Q: What is the minimum qualification required?

Candidates should have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate in their full-time Bachelor's Degree. Candidates who completed their Bachelor's Degree through distance education will be not be considered eligible to apply for the job.

Q: What is the qualification required for MBA in Pharmaceutical Management?

Applicants should have a minimum of four-year certification in MBBS, Pharmacy, Life Science, BDS, BHMS, Science, BAMS, B.Sc or M.Sc in Biotechnology, B.Tech in Bio-Tech or Bio-Medical Degree. 

Q: Are international students eligible to apply for NMAT?

Yes. International students are also eligible to apply for the exam.

Q: What is the qualification required for International students?

Students must have a Bachelor's degree with an aggregate of minimum 50% and they must also have a GMAT score of 600 or above. Students with more than two years of work experience are favored.

Q: What are the criteria considered for shortlisting the candidates?

Shortlisting of the candidates is done based on their performance in NMAT 2019, group discussion, and personal interview.

NMAT 2019 Eligibility Summary:

  • Age Factor: There is no age limit for candidates applying for NMAT 2019 Exam.

  • Eligibility for NMAT 2019 for MBA/MBA banking: The Candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3/4) in any discipline from a recognized University, Candidates with a work experience of more than 2 years in a Pharmaceutical Company are also eligible to apply for the NMAT exam. Also, Candidates appearing for the final year Bachelor’s degree program are also eligible to apply for NMAT 2019. International candidates who have more than 2 years of post qualification experience will be preferred. Candidates applying must have an aggregate minimum of 50%. Candidates holding a post-graduate degree in Economics, Psychology, Sociology are also eligible to apply for NMAT 2019 Examination.

  • Eligibility for NMAT 2019 for EMBACandidates are required to have full-time graduation from a UGC recognized University to be eligible for NMAT. They are also required to have a minimum work experience of 5 years as an executive to be eligible for NMAT.

The eligibility criteria for the MBA program in NMIMS is a graduate (3yrs / 4yrs. Work experience is not mandatory but definitely has a weight. To secure an admission the first step is to write NMAT by GMAC. There are 3 attempts and the best score would be sent to the institution. After this, the interview and gdpi would be scheduled for which you will have to travel to Mumbai. The typical cut off for the course is 208 and there are sectional cut-offs as well which vary every year. However, their range is around 85-90 percentile

  • The entrance exam for NMIMS Hyderabad is through NMAT conducted by GMAC. The admission process is as follows:

          3.) Personal Interview

  • The NMAT test is pretty simple, it tests you on quants, LRDI and Verbal.
  • For the case discussion round, you are given a case study in which you are supposed to discuss the underlying problems in the case and bring out solutions.
  • For the PI round they ask you questions on your personality and particularly on the field, you are in.

No, one cannot add balance time of one section to the other.

If a test taker completes answering and reviewing a section before the allotted section time expires, he/she may choose either to revise the section or move to the next section, but the balance time cannot be added on to the next section timing.
