What are the Uses of a Rank Predictor?

Many candidates do not see the point of rank predictor and dismiss it as a waste of time. But, they do not know that these calculators will be of great help and will save them a lot of time after the announcement of the official results and the ranks.

JEE Main Marks vs Rank

Till 2016, a candidate’s All India Rank calculation was carried out using a normalization score. 60% marks weightage was given to the score and 40% weightage to the percentage obtained in 12th boards. From 2017, a candidate’s score alone is considered in calculating his/her rank. Similarly, the 2021 All India Rank will be distinctly calculated based on the 2021 score/result.

From 2021, this exam will be conducted four times a year, which will change how the scoring works this year. The best of the four scores obtained will be considered in awarding the final All India Rank. In previous exams, they were conducted twice. The table below shows the ranks for equivalent marks as per 2020 data for the January exam:

JEE Main 2021 Results

JEE Main 2021 Counselling

The JEE Main counselling process will be managed by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The counselling process will tentatively commence between June or July 2021, after the declaration of results. The candidates scoring equal or more than the set cut off will have their names in the 2021 All-India Rank list which will be released in the middle of June 2021.
