WBJEE Reservation 2024

The WBJEE 2024 reservation policy is a part of the admission process for undergraduate courses at colleges and universities in West Bengal. This policy aims to reserve a specific percentage of seats for students from a few categories to help them get admission to their desired colleges.

It also ensures that students with disabilities receive reservations based on their level of disability.

Documents Required for WBJEE Reservation 2024

Students appearing for the WBJEE exams must upload certain documents while registering to be eligible for admission. Outlined below are the documents required and their specifications mandated by the authorities.

• Recent coloured passport-sized photograph (4 to 100 KB)
• Signature (1 to 30 KB)
• Left-hand thumb impression (1 to 30 KB)
• WBJEE 2021 Admit card/ registration certificate/ mark sheet of 10th standard/birth certificate (50 to 300 KB)
• Domicile certificate (50 to 300 KB)
• SC/ST/OBC­A/OBC­B certificate (50 to 300 KB)
• PwD certificate (50 to 300 KB)
• Income certificate (50 to 300 KB)

Important Points for WBJEE 2024 Reservation

To claim the reservation quota for WBJEE 2024, students need to keep the following points in mind:

• The availability of reserved seats depends on the rules of the type of institute.
• Seats are available for specific categories of students, such as SC, ST, OBC, PWD, TFW, EWS and wards of Defense Personnel.
• The reservation only applies to Indian citizens domiciled in West Bengal.
• Students claiming reservation must provide valid certificates issued by competent authorities.
• The information will be corrected if a candidate cannot present a valid certificate according to the applicable rules. However, the candidate may be reconsidered in the next round of WBJEE counseling 2024.

Q. Is a student from a state other than West Bengal eligible for writing WBJEE and getting admission into Jadavpur University?

Ans. Yes, students from other states can apply for WBJEE and get admission into Jadavpur University. However, they must fulfill all the eligibility criteria stated by the conducting body and the WBJEE colleges.

WBJEE Reservation 2024: Category Wise

The WBJEE Reservation 2024 policy for students belonging to the reserved categories in WBJEE is determined by the policies followed by the participating institutions. While some universities follow their reservation policy, the state-run colleges follow the State's caste-wise WBJEE reservation policy. 

The reservation policy enforced by the State Government applies to universities that receive full or partial funding from the State. The details of the WBJEE category-wise reservation per the state government are mentioned in the table below.

WBJEE 2024 Reservation: General-EWS 

For General category students, 10% of seats in state government-run institutions are reserved under the EWS quota, provided they fulfill certain requirements. According to WBJEE Reservation 2024, the annual family income must not exceed INR 8 LPA from all sources, and students must produce an Income and Asset Certificate from a competent authority. 

The EWS certificate can be issued by any one of the following authorities: 

• District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate
• Sub-Divisional Officers, District Welfare Officer (in Kolkata), and Ex-officio JD, BCW & TD for Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

WBJEE 2024 Reservation: OBC-NCL

For OBC-NCL students, 10% of OBC-A seats and 7% of OBC-B seats in UG programs at colleges in West Bengal are reserved for Non-Creamy Layer category students who fulfill certain requirements.

OBC students from the Creamy Layer cannot apply under this category, and students must produce/upload a valid OBC certificate issued by a competent authority. 

The following authorities can issue OBC-A (NCL) and OBC-B (NCL) certificates: 

• Sub-Divisional Officers for all districts except Kolkata
• District Welfare Officer, Kolkata & Ex-Officio Joint Director, B.C.W. Dept. in case of Kolkata Municipal Area.

WBJEE Reservation 2024 for SC and ST students

Under the WBJEE Reservation 2024 policy, 22% of seats are reserved for Scheduled caste students and 6% for Scheduled Tribe students. Students applying under this category must upload valid Caste/Tribe Certificates. The following authorities must issue the certificates: 

• Sub-Divisional Officers for all districts except Kolkata
• District Welfare Officer, Kolkata & Ex-Officio Joint Director, B.C.W. Dept. in case of Kolkata Municipal Area.

WBJEE Reservation for PwD students

The WBJEE 2024 Reservation policy allows 3% reservation of seats for PwD students. According to state policy, reservation is given to the following students in the PwD category with 40% disability. The disabilities covered under this provision are as follows: 

• Locomotor disability
• Visual impairment
• Hearing impairment
• Speech & language disability.
• Intellectual disabilities
• Mental illness
• Neurological conditions.
• Blood disorders. 
• Multiple disabilities, including deafblindness.

To avail of PWD reservation, students must produce valid certificates issued by the constituent member of the Medical Disability Certification Board.

WBJEE Reservation 2024 for Defence Category

For the Defence category, 13 seats are reserved for wards of Defence Personnel. Students must apply to the Rajya Sainik Board (RSB), Home Department, Government of West Bengal, to be eligible for the quota. 

The WBJEE will publish a separate list of Defence quota students based on recommendations received from RSB. Students must secure a General Merit Rank (GMR) in WBJEE 2024 to be considered for the quota.

Q. Can students from other states apply for WBJEE reservation?

Ans. No, WBJEE reservation is applicable for students who are domiciled in West Bengal. Students from other states will be applying as general candidates.

WBJEE Reservation 2024 for JEE Main Qualified Students

Up to 10% of the approved seats in all Self-Financed Engineering & Technology Colleges of West Bengal are reserved for students who have been merit listed in JEE Main 2024, as per the WBJEE Reservation 2024. 

• During the e-counseling process, the board will strictly consider the merit and preference of the institution mentioned by the students for seat allotment. 
• The eligibility criteria and other requirements for various courses under WBJEE for different degree level courses shall apply to JEE Main merit listed students. However, students are not required to be domiciled in West Bengal.

WBJEE 2024 Management Quota

The WBJEE management quota applies to Self Financing Colleges of the State offering B.E. /B.Tech. / B. Pharm / B. Arch. Courses and courses running on a self-financing basis under the University Institute of Technology, Burdwan University.

Under management quota, at most 10% of sanctioned seats may be admitted directly by the institution management. Candidates do not need to be domiciled in West Bengal.
