What is the TNEA Exam?

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) is conducted by Anna University for admissions to undergraduate level courses available at various engineering colleges of the state. The candidates for admission to engineering colleges will be selected based on their performance in their class 12 board or equivalent exam from a recognized board. The written test for admission into the course has been scrapped by TNEA authorities.

The candidates who have satisfied TNEA 2021 eligibility criteria will be required to complete their admission online by logging to the official website with the process of counselling and submission of their documents. TNEA is the key through which a lot of engineering students get enrolled in the engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu. Their admission happens through single-window counselling. TNEA 2021 Exam Dates

Actual TNEA 2021 Important Dates have been released. Since there was no entrance exam conducted for the year 2021, the admission procedure is slightly different. The admissions will be given based on the aggregate marks obtained by the candidate in class 12. Interested applicants should register themselves for the selection process by going to the TNEA 2021 Exam's official website. The last date for the TNEA 2021 Application is May 31, 2021. After that, candidates will need to upload the necessary documents on the portal then TNEA authorities will release a rank list of the students. According to that rank list, students will be called for the TNEA 2021 Counselling.

TNEA 2021 Eligibility

Candidates who will be taking TNEA 2021 Exam have to satisfy the TNEA 2021 Eligibility Criteria before registering for the exam. The TNEA 2021 Eligibility Criteria depends upon multiple aspects like nativity of the candidate, minimum educational qualification of the candidate, and age of the candidate. There TNEA 2021 Eligibility Criteria differs according to the different streams or branches. Candidates applying for the TNEA should check whether they satisfy the eligibility criteria or not. TNEA 2021 Eligibility criteria are as follows:

TNEA 2021 For Domicile

Candidates who are citizens of India and have completed their 10+2 or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution can apply for the TNEA. The candidate must either be a resident of Tamil Nadu or must have been a resident of Tamil Nadu for at least 5 years continuously to be eligible to apply for the examination. In either case, the candidate has to produce a nativity certificate as proof.

Children/wards of Central Government employees can also apply for TNEA provided that their parents show the certificate which can prove that they are living in Tamil Nadu for the last five years. Candidates who are children of All India Service Tamil Nadu Cadre Officers are also eligible for TNEA.

TNEA 2021 Educational Qualification

Candidates who are interested in appearing for TNEA should have completed their 10+2 from a recognized board of India with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Candidates belonging to general category should have achieved 50% marks, OBC category students should have achieved 45% marks and SC/ST should have achieved 40% marks.

TNEA 2021 Age Limit

As per the TNEA, the lower age limit to apply for the examination is 18 years and the upper age limit is 25 years. The candidate is considered eligible for the programs offered through the TNEA only if he/she has an age within the aforementioned range.

TNEA 2021 Syllabus

The TNEA 2021 Exam is an entrance test that allows students to get admission into undergraduate engineering courses in different colleges of the state of Tamil Nadu. The TNEA 2021 Syllabus is similar to other entrance examinations conducted for engineering admission.

The application form for the TNEA 2021 Exam will be released in the first week of May, 2021, by the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai on the official website. The candidates will be able to fill the application form till the last week of May or first week of June, 2021. After successfully registering for the TNEA 2021 Exam, candidates will be sent a random number via SMS on their registered mobile number by the TNEA Exam Authorities. TNEA 2021 Online Registration

The TNEA 2021 Application process consists of various steps, each of which must be completed in order to complete the TNEA 2021 application process.

  • You will have to register yourself first. TNEA 2021 Selection Process

The TNEA 2021 selection process consists of various steps. Candidates must follow all the steps thoroughly. The TNEA 2021 first step is that the TNEA 2021 aspirants must first meet all the eligibility criteria. Then they must proceed towards the application form and the registration process.

TNEA 2021 Result

Anna University which is the conducting authority of the TNEA 2021 Exam will publish the result. The TNEA 2021 Result will be declared on the official website. The result will be declared in the form of rank list and will only be available online. The marks obtained by the candidate in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry is reduced to a base of 200. The Chemistry and Physics marks will be combined and will be reduced to 100 whereas the Mathematics which will be of 100 marks total has the most weightage.

The list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidate in 10+2. Candidates will be allotted the colleges in the TNEA 2021 counselling. For this purpose, candidates have to submit INR 5000 for General candidates and INR 2500 for SC/ST candidates.

The TNEA 2021 Counselling process has various steps. They are as follows-

  • All candidates who have registered for the TNEA 2021 must pay the counselling fees which is different for different categories. The candidates belonging to the General and OBC category must pay INR 500, candidates belonging to SC/ST category must pay INR 250, and for other reserved category INR 100.
  • After the fee payment, the candidates must submit all their personal details like nationality, nativity, category, etc.
  • The candidates after this will be given a random ten-digit number to help when the candidates who have reached a tie and have exhausted the tie-breaking rules of TNEA 2021.

There is no specified age limit for TNEA programs. However, for the marine engineering course, a candidate must be less than 25 years old.

If for some reason candidate is not able to attend the TNEA Counselling session then he/she has the permission to send his/her parents on his/her behalf in which candidate will need to authorise the parents. If the candidate cannot attend nor can he/she attend the TNEA Counselling, then he/she may attend the further rounds of TNEA Counselling but the candidate will have to get admission based on the seats available for that particular round of TNEA Counselling.

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2017 is conducted by Anna University. TNEA is conducted every year by the University for to undergraduate level courses available at various engineering colleges of the State. The candidates for admission to engineering colleges will be selected on the basis of their performance in class 12 board or equivalent exam. The candidates will be required to complete their admission with the process of Counselling and submission of their documents.

TNEA is the key through which more than 1.5 lakh Engineering students get enrolled in the engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu. Their admission happens through a single window counselling. The courses offered through TNEA are B.Tech and B.E. These courses occur for 4 academic years, which constitutes of 8 semesters. There is also a Sandwich course, B.E., which occurs for 5 academic years. It constitutes of 10 semesters.

The common Application form of TNEA seeks admission to the University Departments and the Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and for the seats surrendered by Self–Financing Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu under Unified Single Window Admission System for Indian Nationals.
