What is the TNEA Exam?

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) is conducted by Anna University for admissions to undergraduate level courses available at various engineering colleges of the state. The candidates for admission to engineering colleges will be selected based on their performance in their class 12 board or equivalent exam from a recognized board. The written test for admission into the course has been scrapped by TNEA authorities.

The candidates who have satisfied TNEA 2020 eligibility criteria will be required to complete their admission online by logging to the official website with the process of counseling and submission of their documents. TNEA is the key through which a lot of engineering students get enrolled in the engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu. Their admission happens through single-window counseling. The authorities believe that this process provides transparency to a great extent. The TNEA Exam is arranged each year for admission into undergraduate engineering programs in the state of Tamil Nadu. Applicants wanting to pursue their engineering undergraduate degree in any of the colleges participating will have to appear for the TNEA Exam. The score obtained by the candidate in the TNEA Exam and his/her 12th standard/HSC score will be considered when giving admission into one of the programs. Applicants can register for the TNEA Exam on the official website after checking their eligibility.

  • The courses offered through TNEA are B.Tech and B.E. These courses consist of 4 academic years, which are divided into 8 semesters.
  • There is also an integrated course, B.E., which consists of 5 academic years. It is divided into 10 semesters.
  • The common application form of TNEA seeks admission to the university departments and the constituent colleges of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and for the seats surrendered by Self–Financing Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu under Unified Single Window Admission System for Indian Nationals.
