Birsa Institute of Technology was established in 1949 at Patna as a Mechanical and Electrical Engineering College. In 1950, it was shifted to Sindri. Earlier the institute was affiliated with Ranchi University and was known as the Bihar Institute of Technology.
At present, the college is affiliated with Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh. It is a fully residential campus with 25 hostels that provides accommodation to the students as well as faculties, both teaching, and non-teaching. The BITS Sindri admission is based on merit.

The BIT Sindri College Alumni Association offers BIT scholarships of INR 4,000 and INR 3,000 to the toppers of each branch, each year. The BITSAA Bermo Scholarship which is an amount of INR 10,000 per annum is provided to two economically weak students of the first year.
The overall batch topper from the Production Engineering department is provided Sri S S Sahay Award which amounts to INR 10,000 per annum, It is instituted by Dr. B S Sahay. The final year general topper is provided the Late Padma Bhushan P.S.Sharan award instituted by his family members. An amount of INR 10,000 is provided for the same.
One girl student from any branch, preferably financially weak, is provided the Ramsakhi Devi Scholarship which is an amount of INR 10,000. NG Mitra Award which is an amount of 10,000 is provided to one student of any branch who is financially handicapped.
The S.R Sharma Scholarship of INR 1,000 per month is provided to one financially weak student of the Electronics branch.

I AM NOT DONE ANY INTERNSHIP. THE AVERAGE SALARY IS INR 4.5 LAKH PER ANNUM AND THE HIGHEST SALARY IS INR 10 LAKH PER ANNUM. ALUMNI NETWORK IS GOOD IN PSU'S AND ALL OVER THE WORLD.
