GATE exam eligibility criteria 2023 for PwD candidates have been released by the conducting body, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. According to the guidelines, only candidates with benchmark disability above 40 per cent and candidates with physical limitations in writing the exam will be allowed a scribe. Candidates must submit a certificate per appendix-A to avail of this facility. 

Furthermore, candidates with dyslexia will also be provided with a scribe once the candidate have submitted their proper dyslexic certificate to the authorities. In case a PwD or dyslexic candidates have a disability that limits their writing speed and does not opt for a scribe might be provided an extra time of one hour to complete their exam.

  • Candidates must have finished their undergraduate engineering or technology degree or be in their last year (duration of the course should be at least 4 years)

GATE Exam Eligibility Criteria 2023 Documents Required

Candidates must supply specific papers to support their eligibility while applying to GATE 2023. It should be mentioned that when completing the application form, the GATE eligibility requirements certificates must be uploaded. The following are some key details about the eligibility documents that applicants must upload:

  • Candidates must submit the degree certificate, provisional degree certificate, course completion certificate, or membership certificate issued by the specified authorities if they pass the aforementioned qualifying examinations in 2023 or before.
  • A candidate must upload their Provisional Certificate Letter (as issued by the Head of the Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Department) or a copy of the marks card for Section A of AMIE, etc. if they intend to meet the eligibility requirements in 2023 or later.
  • Candidates who fall under the PwD (Persons with Disabilities) category must upload a PwD certificate from a reputable source. No of the type of handicap, only applicants who have at least 40% impairment will receive a fee reduction. When applying for admission at the designated institute, candidates must also present the certificate.
  • Candidates who have unfinished business (failed subjects) in any of the qualifying examination subjects must upload a copy of their final-year mark sheet from the institution where they plan to take their qualifying examination. It must be emphasised that the mark sheet downloaded from the internet will never be acceptable.
  • Candidates who fall under the SC/ST category must attach a legitimate document as proof to receive a discount on the application fee. Only certificates issued by recognised authorities will be taken into consideration for a grant.
  • To hire a scribe, candidates who are dyslexic will need to produce a certificate from the appropriate authorities attesting to their condition.

GATE Exam Eligibility Criteria 2023 for M.Tech

Candidates who have passed the GATE exam will be given admission to M.Tech programmes at various IITs, NITs, IIITs, and select CFTIs. For GATE 2023, there won't be a unique counselling procedure. Candidates will need to submit individual applications for each counselling process. Candidates must complete GATE 2023 registration through COAP, which will be done separately, to be admitted to M.Tech programmes at IITs. Candidates must submit an application through Centralized Counselling for M.Tech to be considered for admission to NITs, IITs, and select CFTIs (CCMT).

Applicants who have passed the 10+2 board exam and are pursuing the 3rd year of graduation can apply for GATE 2022.

What is GATE Eligibility Certificate?
