GATE COAP 2025 offers for round 3 have started on May 29, 2025 (10:00 AM). During the GATE counselling 2025, candidates can accept, wait, reject or freeze their allocated seats by Jun 01, 2025 (6 PM). The process comprises at least five main rounds, depending on the seat availability and acceptance rate of the candidates.
The registration window was closed by IISc Bangalore on May 15, 2025. About GATE COAP 2025
IIT Kanpur announced the official notification for the GATE COAP 2025 exam on the official website. As the name suggests, the Common Offer Acceptance Portal or ‘COAP’ provides the aspirants with a common platform to pursue M.Tech from the participating educational institutes or attain employment in one of the participating Public Sector Units (PSUs).
Furthermore, COAP refers to the Common Offer Acceptance Portal. The applicants should be aware that GATE COAP is not a site for M.Tech admission applications, but rather a shared window where the participating institutions and PSUs publish their offers. For admission to the M.Tech programs at each IIT, candidates must submit separate applications.

GATE COAP 2025 result for round 3 has been declared on May 29, 2025 (10:00 IST). Candidates can accept and freeze, retain and wait, or reject and wait on the options that are available to candidates till Jun 01, 2025 (6:00 PM). It's worth noting that during seat allocation, if a candidate has already applied for retention and waitlisted on the same, they will not be able to do so again.

GATE COAP 2025 Seat Acceptance Process for Main Rounds
There are three options while filling out the counselling choices on the GATE COAP 2025 platform. They are elaborated on in detail for the reference of the candidates. Candidates assigned seats in GATE COAP 2025 must choose between accepting and freezing their positions or rejecting and waiting for the next available seat.
Option 1: Accept and Freeze
- The candidate chooses this option if they are ready to accept the offers made to them and do not want to be upgraded to higher preferences in subsequent rounds.
- In the succeeding rounds, candidates who choose this option will not be offered admission.
- The candidate must click the submit button to verify that their choice has been submitted after selecting the "Accept and Freeze" option. The candidate should then go to the admission portal for the relevant academic institute and follow the instructions on the webpage there.
Option 2: Retain and Wait
- Candidates who plan to officially accept one of the offers should choose this option if they want to be considered for an upgrade to their higher preferences, if any, in the next round of offers.
- Candidates who choose this option won't be considered for the other offers in the current round that were turned down.
- However, the current "Retain and Wait" offer will be withdrawn if a better-preferred offer is made in the following round. An applicant may select "Retain and Wait" just twice for the same offer (same institute and same programme).
- The applicant will be considered for any additional higher preferences in the upcoming round(s) of admission available at the participating academic Institutes.
- The candidate should click submit to confirm the submission of the decision after selecting the "Retain and Wait" option.
Option 3: Reject and Wait
- If the candidate is unwilling to accept any of the offers of admission in the current round, they should choose this option.
- The candidate will be considered for any further higher preferences in the upcoming round(s) of admission granted by any academic Institutes taking part. Please be aware that because you declined this offer, it won't be made again in the subsequent rounds.
- The candidate should click submit to confirm the submission of the decision after selecting the "Reject and Wait" option.
Steps to Check GATE COAP 2025 Seat Allotment Result
Applicants who want to accept the seats offered through GATE COAP 2025 must finish the admissions procedure by enrolling on the institute portal, paying the required fees, and submitting the required documentation.

- Step 1: Candidates must visit GATE COAP 2025 web portal, and click on the 'Login' button on the homepage.
- Step 2: Enter the user ID and password generated after registration.
- Step 3: Find the 'Seat Allotment' tab and click on it.
- Step 4: View all the institutes applied for.
- Step 5: Access the list of candidates who have chosen those institutes to give admissions or jobs to. (It must be noted that the allotment list is prepared, keeping in mind the scores attained by the candidates in GATE. GATE COAP aims to find the most worthy candidates for occupying the M.Tech seats in the participating institutions. To ensure that it is done fairly, certain guidelines have been proposed by the conducting authorities that the candidates must abide by such as follows.
- The candidates must not forget to click on the ‘Submit’ button after making their choices. An unsuccessful submission counts as the candidate's absence from that particular round.
- The candidate must not forget to visit the corresponding organization’s official website and check admission-related formalities that need to be done after acceptance of the offer.
- The candidates need to attend every round of seat allotment till they ‘Accept and Freeze’ an offer. If the candidate has given a higher preference beforehand, then the candidate will also be considered for that particular opportunity, if it comes in the subsequent rounds. However, the candidate will not be allowed to participate in any of the further rounds of offer acceptance.
