BITSAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria Overview

Age
Between 21 to 25 years of age as on 1st October 2019.
Qualification
Minimum aggregate of 75% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology (whichever taken in BITSAT) or 12th exam of 10+2 system.
Reservation
Purely merit-based.
Exceptions
First rank students of all the central and state boards in India for 2019.

BITSAT Eligibility Criteria 2019

  • Eligibility Criteria: Candidates who want to fill the Application form must satisfy BITSAT Eligibility, laid by the BITS university. If any candidate does not satisfy any of the BITSAT Eligibility criteria 2019, then he/she won't be given admission to BITS institutes. 

  • BITSAT 2019 Brochure: The Brochure for the exam is available on the official website. Students can learn more about BITSAT Eligibility on the official website as well.

  • BITSAT Exam Dates 2019: After checking their eligibility, the candidates must check the important dates and events related to BITSAT 2019.

Note: BITSAT 2019 Admit card will be issued to only those candidates who fulfil BITSAT Eligibility.

There is no age limit for BITSAT 2019 exam.

Qualifying Exam

 Candidates need to have passed their 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects and adequate proficiency in English.

Minimum Marks in Qualifying Exam

Candidates need to have passed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in their 10+2 or equivalent exam, for admission to B.Tech programme. However, candidates need to have passed in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in their 10+2 or equivalent exam, for admission to B.Pharm programme. However, candidates with PCM can also apply for the Pharmacy programme. Candidates need to have adequate proficiency in English.

Passing Status

 Candidates who are appearing in their 10+2 or equivalent exam in 2019 or have passed their qualifying exam in 2018 will be eligible for BITSAT 2019. In case, a candidate has taken more than one attempt in their 10+2 or equivalent exam, then only his or her latest performance will be considered, provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/ courses prescribed. Those candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam in 2017 or earlier will NOT be eligible for BITSAT 2019.

NOTE: Candidates studying in any of the BITS campuses will not be eligible to appear in the entrance exam.


Course-Based BITSAT Eligibility Criteria 2019

BITSAT Eligibility based on each course varies and it is given below in the table.

Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English.

 B.Pharm

Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and adequate proficiency in English. However, candidates with PCM may also apply for Pharmacy program.

  • Minimum Marks: A candidate who is willing to apply for BITSAT 2019 should have minimum aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects (if he/she has taken Mathematics in BITSAT) or minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subject (if he/she has taken Biology in BITSAT) in 12th examination. In addition to that, a candidate must score a minimum of 60% marks in all of the subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology.

  • Eligibility Section: Candidates who are appearing for 12th examination in 2018 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2017 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT 2019 Test. If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in 12th class or its equivalent, then only latest performance will be considered. But provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/courses prescribed.

  • Ineligible Candidate: If a candidate has passed the 12th examination in 2016 or earlier are not eligible to appear in BITSAT 2019.

  • Admission procedure: Admissions procedure will be made purely on merit. The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT 2019.

Direct Admission:

  • BITS offer direct admission to the candidate who scores the first rank in the Central/State Board Examination.

  • First rank students of all the central and state boards in India for the 2019 will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT 2019 score. This is as per the BITSAT Eligibility mentioned above.

BITSAT Eligibility 2019 Important notes

  • Admission process:  The admission process is based on the merit list only i.e BITSAT 2019 is a purely merit-based examination and has 0% reservation.

  • Eligibility: Students who appeared for the supplementary in their 12th standard are eligible to appear for BITSAT 2019 only if the attempt has been for all the prescribed subjects. Students who are currently studying in any of the BITS colleges are not eligible to appear for the test. Candidates who satisfy BITSAT Eligibility Criteria 2019 can fill the BITSAT 2019 Application Form.

  • Age limit: BITSAT Eligibility prescribed age for students is between 21 to 25 years as on 1st October 2019.

  • Mark basis: Candidates will be selected only on the basis of merit in the BITSAT 2019 but the eligibility for admission is subject to fulfilment of the conditions regarding the 12th marks. Candidates who get 1st rank get direct admission, provided they produce proof of getting the first rank.

  • Conditions: Candidates those presently studying in BITS at any of the campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT 2019 Exam. And Candidates who have passed the 12th examination in 2016 or earlier are not eligible to apply in BITSAT 2019.

BITSAT 2017 Eligibility is:

  • Candidates should have passed their 10+2 examination with a minimum of 75% marks from any recognised board.
  • Eligibility Criteria for B.E. (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Tech.): Candidates should have passed their 12th standard examination from the Central or State Board. Candidates must have passed Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in Class 12 and scored an aggregate of 75% in these subjects. Candidates should have secured minimum 60% marks in each subject mentioned above. Candidates need to be proficient in English.
  • Eligibility Criteria for B.Pharm (Hons.): Candidates should have passed their 12th standard examination from the Central or State Board.   • Eligibility regarding supplementary examination: Students who appeared for the supplementary examination in their 12th are eligible to appear for BITSAT only if the attempt has been for all the prescribed subjects.
  • Eligibility regarding students who are part of BITS: Students who are currently studying in any of the BITS colleges are not eligible to appear for the test.

The M.Sc. programs are a 4-year integrated program after 12th. There is no intermediate B.Sc. degree awarded for BITSAT 2017.

Candidates can write BITSAT 2017 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 10+2.

However, they will be eligible to apply only for the B. Pharm program. They will not be eligible for any other first-degree program by BITS .

I passed 12th in 2016. I didn’t get 75% aggregate in PCM .Am I eligible if I repeat some of the subjects to get the required 75% marks?

  • If you are repeating 12th exam, you should do it for the all the subjects as required by the board to pass 12th again.
  • If you take improvement exams in PCM/PCB only, you are not eligible.
