How to Calculate GATE Negative Marking?
If you appear for the GATE 2026 exam, you need to be aware of negative markings for certain questions. The steps to calculate the GATE negative marking are as follows:
- Once the answer keys are available, you must download them.
- Check for the answers, and mark the correct answer and the incorrect answers.
- Now deduct the incorrect answer marks from the correct answers.

GATE 2026 Marking Scheme
The GATE marking scheme for the papers are variant. The GATE exam total marks is 100, which is the GATE maximum marks. The question paper will carry questions from General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics, and Core subjects for AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PE, PI, TF, XE and BM subjects.
However, there will be no engineering mathematics questions for AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, XH, and XL subjects.
