Bachelor of Engineering [BE], batch of 2021

Dialy routine is excellent. Students have the freedom to choose time table suiting them. Projects and assignments are minimum allowing students to work in their own interest. Teachers are good but not that good. They teach as they wish.

Waves the cultural fest is the main festival. Clubs on campus are not worth. They just exist for outings and other bullshit stuff. They hardly do any work.

B.E hons Electronics and Instrumentation, batch of 2018

Students are supposed to attend 4 lectures and lab sessions a day. We have zero attendance policy. You can decide whether to attend a lecture or to invest your time in other productive work for career development. The student even has the flexibility to adjust his/her own timetable and choose instructor also. Apart from compulsory courses, student has to complete 3 humanities and 4 disciplinary electives and 5 open electives (courses of any other branch/department if you are interested).

We have clubs like a Dance club, Drama club, cricket club, Basketball club, Nirmaan, Abhigyaan, Udaan and Divya.

  • The quality and method of teaching are those followed by MIT and other top universities of the world.
  • My experience till now is awesome.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Mathematics), batch of 2020

  • Birla Institute of Technology and Science, [BITS ] South Goa has unique academic structure, wherein you get to choose your own class timings and faculty of your choice. The class hours are not very hectic so you have ample of time to nurture your hobbies and interests. You also get options to devote that time to learn some technically productive skills. The relative grading system and continuous evaluation maintain regularity in subject. Overall, this unique academic structure is a big advantage to students of BITS.

  • There are a large number of Clubs and Departments on campus, which are completely run by students. There are also NGOs operated by college students. Nearly all major activity groups are present, Dance, Music, Drama, Mime etc. There are number of Departments which coordinate and have their own feild of work. Students can definitely find Dept/Club working in their field of interest.
  • Birla Institute of Technology and Science, [BITS] South Goa Campus organizes reputed campus fest over the year. Waves (Cultural), Quark(Tech), Spree(Sports) and other InterHostel events as well. Number of students come from other colleges to perform or participate in these events. The reputation of these fests is growing rapidly.
  • The college life is really awesome and you will never regret choosing BITS Pilani Goa Campus.

  • Clubs are pretty good and Sports infrastructure is not that great and especially what frustrates a BITSGian and a cricket fanatic is that we cannot play in our own cricket ground since it is maintained by the BCCI.
  • Student diversity is, in fact, great earlier one ethnic group used to dominate the campus but slowly the situation is changing and sex ratio is around 1:7.

  • We unlike the other elite colleges in India do not follow mid sem and final exams schedule here and this is what irritates me the most because when we are done with one set of exams the other set of exams will be waiting around the corner and statistically there wouldn't be gap more than 1 month between the exams and in between we need to organise our festivals and that becomes hectic for an average student most of the time.
  • Quality of teaching is good in some courses at BITS and frankly, it is not that great in electronics-related courses and hopefully, it would change in the future.

Academic Overview:

Offered at the first tier, these degrees have nomenclature like B.E. (Hons.), B.Pharm. (Hons.), M.M.S (Master of Management Studies), M.Sc. (Hons.), M.Sc. (Tech.), and M.A. (Hons.). These are level wise equivalent degrees. They are considered to be integrated degrees for two reasons: (i) the degree program includes several cross disciplinary common coursessuch as basic math and science and, (ii) no intermediate degree, like, B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons.), B.A., B.A. (Hons), etc. is awarded. These degrees are modular in structure and academic requirements are spelt out in terms of the number of courses studied rather than the number of years. All our programmes are designed in a way to facilitate completion within eight semesters. Our flexible academic policy gives students the option to complete their degree both at a faster pace (finishing it earlier than 8 semesters) as well as at a slower pace to finish it in later than 8 semesters.

The pursuit of excellence requires a transparent and honest approach. At BITS Pilani, we have always believed this to be true and are one of the few top institutes in India to favour a ‘Merit Only’ based admission policy.
