UGC NET Registration 2025 (Closed): Registration, Application Form

The UGC NET registration 2025 notification has been released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The last date to register for UGC NET 2025 was extended to May 12, 2025. UGC NET 2025 registration can be done through the ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

The deadline for paying the application fee was extended to May 13, 2025. Candidates must pay the specified application fees to complete the UGC NET application form 2025 process. Moreover, the form correction link will also be activated on May 14 and 15, 2025.

Candidates who complete the online registration process will appear for the UGC NET June cycle. Selected candidates will be eligible for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/or assistant professor. The UGC NET 2025 for the June session will be conducted from June 25 to 29, 2025.

UGC NET Registration 2025 Process

Candidates can submit applications for UGC NET 2025 between April 16 and May 12, 2025, until 11:59 PM. The actions they must take to finish the NTA UGC NET application procedure are listed below.

  • Step 1: Candidates shall navigate to the website ugcnet.nta.ac.in. to register themselves for the UGC NET Exam.
  • Step 2: Next, they must locate and click on the 'Application form' link at the bottom of the homepage. A new page will open.
  • Step 3: Thereafter, choose 'New Registration' to initiate the registration process and fill in the necessary details.
  • Step 4: Candidates must provide all the required details, including the Candidate’s name, Mother’s Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Gender, and Identification Number, to complete the registration.
  • Step 5: Once registered, fill out the entire application form, which includes the candidate’s personal information, the purpose of the application, education details, security information, doctorate details, research, or any ex-service-related information.
  • Step 6: The candidate must then upload scanned copies of their passport-size photo (10-200 kb) and signature (4-30 kb) in JPEG format.
  • Step 7: Candidates shall pay the UGC NET application fee according to their category: General—INR 1,150; OBC/EWS—INR 600; SC/ST/PwD/Transgender—INR 325.
  • Step 8: They shall review the information provided, save the form, and submit it.
  • Step 9: Finally, the candidate must download the confirmation page for their records.

UGC NET Registrations 2025: Application Fees

UGC NET registration fee payment can be made through SBI, Canara Bank, ICICI Bank, or HDFC Bank. The modes of payment accepted are Net Banking, Debit/credit cards, and UPI Transactions. The candidate should keep proof of the fee paid. Candidates are required to pay the fees mentioned below according to their sub-division.

  • Provide a copy of the Board/University Certificate displaying details such as name, mother's name, father's name, etc.

UGC NET Registration 2025: Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be under 30 years old to be eligible for NTA NET JRF. However, there is no age restriction for seeking to be an Assistant Professor; reserved category applicants, however, are entitled to apply with a five-year age relaxation.

Indian citizenship is a crucial qualifying condition for the UGC NET exam, limiting participation to only Indian residents. However, Indian nationals living overseas may still apply by providing the necessary papers to confirm their status.

Candidates must have completed their post-graduation studies at an institution recognised by the UGC. Candidates from the reserved category are excused from the UGC NET exam, and those who passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) before the specified date are granted a five per cent relaxation in their educational requirements.
